The other two incision sites are clean .. this one is SO sore, I just don't know what to do with myself. Any ideas?
Wwent to see the Pharmacist and he didn't seem to think it was infected and just advised anti histamine tablets for the itching - not cream as it's still healing.

I'm not in the medical field but it doesn't look good to me either. Have you been rubbing it because of the itching? My itching was so bad my Dr had to give me a prescription Med to help control the itching. Hope you feel better soon.

OMG--that looks like it is infected. Have you gone back to the doctor yet? Also the back looks like there is an indentation in it. It doesn't come together. What happened??? I think I would seek medical advice--doesn't look good at all. Good luck :grouphug:

Well Karen

This graphic evidence does not mimic any of my forays into the OR with one exception, the infected one at the time of Trial Surgery before implant. Yours does not appear to be oozing, but is definitely red irritated looking site.

Only thing I can imagine is Tootle back to the doc and ask "What gives here, and why does it still hurt so?"

Prayin,
Mark56:hug::circlelove:

Saffy 03-06-2012 09:52 AM

Am waiting on a call from the doc.. I've had two incidents of complete paralysis in both legs and tingling in my upper arms .. She's calling the neuro surgeons to see what to do.

ginnie 03-06-2012 10:52 AM

Hi Saffy

The wound looks irratated. Itching usually is a sign of healing. However in your case, this red looking area doesn't look good to me eithor. There should be a reduction of the redness as you heal, not an increase. If this seems to be getting worse, or going in the wrong directon, have it looked at so you can have ease of mind. A quick trip to the surgeon wouldn't be a bad idea, or a phone call to the nurse, just to be on the safe side. ginnie

fionab 03-06-2012 11:48 AM

Does look like inflammation. I have a body that is very slow to heal so for me seeing something this red has me think of inflammation right off the bat. My dr. told me an incision can become redder as it heals as there's more blood being sent to the area in order to help it heal. But agree with all...doctor involvement is a must!

Rrae 03-06-2012 09:42 PM

Pain + redness = infection, from what I've been taught :Clever: but Fiona's feedback makes sense too.
Is there something you can put on this? Me too vote 'ask doctor pronto'

Emergency Room Now

Multiple total paralysis episodes, tingling in upper extremities = AMBULANCE TO HOSPITAL. The only total bilateral lower extremity paralysis I have experienced has been purposeful self induced management of pain spikes by OVER STIMULATING with the unit. Doc was wholly concerned when I reported this to him!!!! He warned me there are no white papers known, no revelations from manufacturers regarding the over stim effect and possible permanent damage.

I was Warned to be of great care regarding this issue.

You, dear Karen have not reported what I just wrote. Instead, you are experiencing spontaneity of this occurrence.

I wrote the word ambulance for a reason.

Please,

Go,

Mark56:hug: and worried half way around the globe!!

Mark56 03-06-2012 10:52 PM

Are you Gone Yet?

GO! Go! Go!!!

Saffy 03-07-2012 01:47 AM

Ringing doctor this morning as soon as they open. I've had tingling in my legs all night. No paralysis again ,but something not right all the same. X x will keep you informed

lynn1667 03-07-2012 08:57 AM

Thinking of you

I couldn't help but think about you all day yesterday. Glad to see that you are contacting the doctor this morning. Please keep us informed and I'm praying for you. We all have been through enough without problems occuring after surgery. Good Luck!!!!

My goodness....

GeeWhiz Karen! Things seemed to be going great when you first came out of surgery. I wonder what on earth went wrong. Like you really needed this to happen :(

You've got all of us standing in Faith on this.
Oh how I pray it is not something real serious....something that can easily be remmedied....

Saffy 03-08-2012 04:41 PM

I know .. I felt fab when I first came out. Started to feel a bit heavy legged and in the arms .. Almost fluey towards the end of the week. Today my back is SO sor ... Very swollen and sore where the laminectomy was done (I think) .. Would is sort of gaping like a mouth but not bleeding or anything. Will see how I am n the morning.

Had a lovely lazy day in bed and on full meds today, so the day passed in a blur and I didn't get too frustrated that I wasn't able to do anything.

Mark56 03-08-2012 11:23 PM

That you take due care......

is so very important to us all Saffy. May ALL of these matters which have caused you such pain and distress..... and worry, be gone from you so you may spend moments planning a next visit to the shore, or in the wood, savoring its sweet mouldy fragrance of new growth overcoming that which is gone to decay.

Flowers,
Mark56:hug:

Saffy 03-09-2012 02:24 AM

Off to see the nurse today as my incision site hs gone dark brown and an inch gap is gaping. Definitely looks worse than before.

Mark56 03-09-2012 09:34 AM

Yes

So glad you have already gone and returned home by now. Prayed for you.
Mark56:hug:

Saffy 03-09-2012 12:51 PM

Have been in bed all day. No energy to even raise my arms up to my head.

ginnie 03-09-2012 02:14 PM

Hi Saffy

Are you OK? Did you get to the doctor or nurse to take a look at the wound? If it is gapping open, that needs some attention. Let us know how you are doing. You can't have energy if you have an infection going on in this site. We care. ginnie

Rachel4444 03-15-2012 05:57 PM

Blimey Saffy, hope you are ok, thinking and praying for you :hug:

Mark56 03-15-2012 10:34 PM
