help and advice

SUrgeon has just been and he said the infection is under control.

He Will keep me on intravenous anti biotics for another few days then send me out with opal ones.

I Have this dislike of my Stim now as what if it gets infected on holiday.

I just want it out.

Mark56 03-19-2012 08:56 AM

Doubtful Stim is at fault

Stim is preserved ultra bio clean, the infection had to result from the care, or lack thereof asociated with the implant, That bizarre opening of the thoracic wound is dead on for infection having sneaked in as hands or equipment or environment having not been sufficiently sterile. If is psychologically easy to transfer the distaste to a culprit you can easily label, but then what if it is not the harbinger of infection at all? What if the scrub down of all in theatre had some fault? What if one of them had been infected with a bio-infection unknowingly and it made its way into your body. Hospital is full of infection just because of the patients who there are gathered?

A friend of mine caught staph as result of a difficult cage fusion open wound surgery, which like mine took all day long in the theatre. Mine was sterile, one reason OR place are so COLD. My friend caught staph and was in ICU for over a month, people thinking he might die.

If infection is under control, if Felix is still in place, and if Felix is known to work, why not give Felix a chance to live and bring restoration to your life?

I am SO PRAYING FOR YOU AND TOM,
God bring healing in your body,
Mark56:hug:

I Have decided to stick by Felix and hope this infection clears. I really do.think the infection came from my back. Remember my post saying it was *****? I think this passed through to my battery.site. I was uold by a doctor last week that it looked fine Pfft
..

Stick with Felix!!

As Mark said, it was probably hospital conditions and not the implant itself that was cause of infection. I remember one time when I had a cervical fusion that I left the hospital with a staph infection on my arm and I know it was from one of the nurses re-doing my IV drip without any gloves on. And it's supposed to be one of the best rated hospitals in my city! Infections can come from anything, even an unwashed bed railing, or dirty hands.

I hope that once this infection is cleared up that you get the relief you need from Felix :hug:

Everyone said it beautifully, Karen.....let the poor little guy, Felix, have a chance to work for you. It sounds like you are finally in good hands and that the infection is on it's way out.

I am still stunned at how this all came about. Totally not fair to you
We all started getting huge red flags back when you shared the picture of your incision. It seemed as tho no one on your medical team would listen to you when you said it didn't feel right. You even showed it to the pharmacist and he poo-pooed it.
You have been thru the mill and I hope this is all far behind you when you are ready to go on vacation. Where are you going? Boy, that will sure be a much needed time away!

We care so much, Karen. Thank you for keeping us updated every step of the way. It's almost as if we were 'there' right along with you.

Hi Karen,

I'm really happy you are doing better, it's very scary when it happens but when you look at the way Mark just portrayed it doesn't seem so bad. I think it's easier said than done if you know what I mean. I think give Felix a chance and please God all will be well

Love and God bless
