Full Moon and Passover Friday night

Hi,

Happy Passover :)

The full moon is at 3:20 pm East Coast Time Friday.
Passover starts at sundown or sunset Friday-- 7:28 pm and 38 seconds -- depending on how one counts.

Passover reminds me of my friend who passed a few years ago. If she were here, I might have been in her kitchen earlier keeping her company. She made her chicken soup with a clear broth. Seder guests had their pick of whether they wanted matzo balls that floated or balls that sunk to the bottom of the soup bowl.

that was funny about the sinking matzo balls. I used to make them light and fluffy and at times so light they would fall apart.

Happy Passover and Easter everyone.

I love this time of year.

Its my favorite time of year.

I was born the day before Easter one year 54 years ago. So its always
been one of my favorite holidays.

Today is Good Friday.

It is not Easter yet.

With today being Good Friday my spirits have been on the solemn side. Good Friday, per se, is not a yippee-do-da-day day.

It is important too. We would not have Easter at all, were it not for Good Friday! It is a critical passage to observe, if one is to put any sort of meaning into Easter... besides colored eggs and candy and whatnot. :o

i am non-observant but i still think about these things. for some reason this year it really affected me. so i guess i am observing in a personal kind of way.

Hi, Waves,

I was thinking of this too when I had to go out to a shop and saw tons of people buying junk. It felt odd to see people who will likely celebrate Easter but not observe Good Friday.
I think the Protestants are not much into Holy Thursday and Good Friday.

I observe no holidays. Hubby and I recognize our two b-days some years.

Bobby,

I do not remember what she did differently for the two types of balls --- probably because she changed techniques each year.
After searching for that picture last night, I decided I want some Mazo Ball soup. Maybe I can find it in a restaurant.

I sort of remember beating the egg and then putting the matzo meal gradually into the beaten egg until is almost falling apart but no doing it and then throwing it in boiling water to cook. after it is cooked i put it into chicken soup. it absorbs so much liquid. gee i should have made some. I think at the senior center they are having it on Monday. On friday we had an easter meal with salmon, fish on friday, but were promised a dessert cheesecake. it turned out to be a lollipop coated with chocolate and cheesecake in the center. it was delicious but i was disappointed. I wanted more. they even gave us jelly beans and chocolate kisses.....yummy.

Dear Bobby,
Thanks for the matzo ball technique. There is a deli one town away that will have it when I have a chance to get there.

You had Easter on Friday. That works. The desert on a stick thing is fashionable now. I think it is silly. I agree with you that actual cheesecake would have been nice.
