What's on your plate?

Voted this morning...because we are old we can vote absentee ballot. Then went to Applebee's for lunch. It rained most of the night and is raining again now...great for my new grass...so glad I got the lawn cut yesterday when it was nice but cool.

My dear friend has decided to go for the chemo and experimental drugs, knowing that she can quit it anytime she so chooses. Today she got a port put in and says she is glad that's over with. I just pray that she doesn't suffer needlessly....we all know what pancreatic cancer does. :(:(

She said her husband loves my chili and wants the recipe so her daughter can make it for him. How to tell her it has a quart of homemade tomato juice in it. :o

I was shocked to see a baby owl sitting on our porch railing yesterday! It sat there for the longest time and I did get some pictures of it...don't know how to post them here but one is on my facebook wall. I feed the birds but I think owls eat critters.......?????

Addy 04-30-2012 04:55 PM

Waves at Alffee :) - when I saw your owl pic on Facebook, I thought of Lara and how she might want to see it... so now, I'm going to try a little experiment to see if it shows here:

http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...86004938_n.jpg

OH YAY.... it worked! and here is how you do it:
  • Right Click on the photo on Facebook
  • Click "Copy Image Location"
  • Its now "saved" so go to Neurotalk and click the little photo icon above.
  • Click Paste and VOILA the picture will show up here!

I've had Grand-Addy here since Saturday... and she'll be here until Friday... I've been napping and going to bed with her at night so that I'm not a tired Addy-Gramma! Its not been the greatest weather but we did manage a day of no rain and a visit to the ocean yesterday! I love being a Gramma - I let her walk in the water and get all sandy and wet :D

My work life has improved greatly which has made life so much easier. The job itself can be exhausting but the rewards and the time off to be with family make it all worth it.

Wren 04-30-2012 05:26 PM

oooooooooooooooohhh ... I wish I had an owl. :p

Alffe 04-30-2012 06:03 PM

Alffe 05-01-2012 05:59 AM

Lara 05-01-2012 06:09 AM

:) too funny! You should have tried DVORAK. When in the USA I stayed with a friend who used only DVORAK keyboard, so I had to translate it key to key. Ahh, the memories. I guess I was clever once. It was a lesson in the learning I tell you.

Addy, I love you. Hug you in real life again would be a wish.

That is the most beautiful photo. Get owls here that wake me up from time to time with their strange sounds. To find one on my patio? No way. Not in daylight.

So special. Thanks so much!

Abbie 05-01-2012 12:39 PM

Rain...rain... oh and did I mention rain.

Then we are supposed to have temperatures near 90 for the next 3 days.

Oh... and I'll go sometime later today and let my brother's dogs out again...3 little ankle biters. Hopefully, I'll get a little break in the rain. Luckily for me, my voice sounds somewhat like my brothers that the dogs all run for the door when I call them. I don't mind doing this but I sure hope they get home by Saturday.

Other than this... I think I'll take a nap... nothing else to do or want to do.

:rain:Abbie

I tried posting a picture Addy and I don't get the same drop down "menu" that you do. I remember Curious  tried and tried to teach me how to post a picture to no avail. *grin Thank you again...Mr.Alffe keeps looking for the baby owl but he/she is long gone! I still giggle Gramma, about being sandy and wet!!

Had lunch with Barbo today and an old neighbor friend of ours. Looking forward to Cynco de Mayo in the park on Saturday..Mango on a stick and corn on the cobb....my favorites!

Addy 05-03-2012 07:16 PM

Well, Alffe, I imagine you're using a different operating system than I am... in other words, different computers and internet connections ... so, I tell you what... next time you would like a photo posted over here in NT (for Lara ;)), post it to FaceBook and let me know to transfer it over here!

I'm a bit under the weather today.... recouping from having Grand-Addy here with me for 4 days... can you say love?!!! She's the best happy pill I've ever taken!!

Abbie 05-03-2012 08:15 PM

My plate has holes in it from the sidewalks I've walked down......can't find one without holes.

I can't win for losing...oh well, guess it's meant to be this way. Or as my mom says... ya get what ya deserve.

:thud:
Abbie

Addy 05-03-2012 09:09 PM

No NO ((((Abbie)))) ... you did nothing to "deserve" the hardships you have endured :( .... please don't listen to that talk! You hear me!?!!!

:mf_swordfight: You are gonna win this battle, too, I know!

YOU ARE strong and courageous and you are HERE!

Alffe 05-05-2012 07:38 AM

Looking forward to Cinco de Maya celebration in the park today...great food and darling children dressed in shiny black shoes and pretty dresses.

Later going up to Vickers to see "We Need to Talk About Kevin". Looks chilling!

Still looking for the promised sun to come out..at least it isn't raining!
And the big moon won't make it's appearance here until 11:30 tonight...I'll never be able to stay up that late.

tamiloo 05-08-2012 01:13 PM

So sorry I've been away for been so busy taking care of my Olhipie, my Mom and a little for me.

Today I go visit my surgeon for my six month check...I can't believe its been that long. I do have some pain that can become pretty bad at times and some numbness in my pelvic area. I had a good fall afew days ago...hope all is well.

barbo 05-08-2012 01:16 PM

Tamiloo

You've been missed!

tamiloo 05-09-2012 09:20 AM

Well, the doc visit went well! Pelvic pain due to all the fusion I have going on all through my lumbar. The new fusion has bone growth of about one year post surgery. I do grow bone fast!!

Today, well just trying to catch up on the cleaning...the never ending story. Sure is pretty outside...might just get the Olhipie to get in his fancy new power-chair and take me for a walk.:winky:

FeelinGoofy 05-16-2012 04:13 PM

Rebecca and I will be driving to Florida tomorrow. She is staying there for the summer for mission work in Panama City. I'll be flying back home on Saturday.... looking forward to some quality time with my amazing daughter in the car :)

Addy 05-17-2012 12:48 PM

oh, that's wonderful news Goofy... and how exciting for Rebecca! You must be so proud! I hope that your drive home is peaceful... if you see butterflies on the side of the road, know that your angels are with you!

I've got a day off today and am still collecting pine cones - they are dropping like crazy this year so I've decided to cover my garden with them. Its a small patio garden that is very shaded by different types of greenery - bamboo, holly, and hostas and a few others that pop up every year .... I'm still able to add pops of colour which I'll likely do this coming weekend. La la la... I just do what I feels like doin'! Might grow some container vegetables for the fun of it, too.

Oh oh oh... and as soon as I start making a list in my head of other things to do... I do nothing...

FeelinGoofy 05-20-2012 08:45 AM

Got the kid to Florida. I stayed Friday night with the girls she is going to be rooming with... LOLOL i forgot what it was like to be young single and not afraid to act silly. I laughed so hard. These girls were quoting scriptures from the Bible in different voices. LOLOL then they recorded it on their telephone and sent it out to people. LOLOL ANYWAY it was fun and i'm excited for Rebecca. She is going to have a great summer....

Neuro said I was remarkable for what I've done.
And I think it's remarkable to keep walking.

Lara 05-23-2012 03:15 PM

 to all you remarkable people. ;)

Just a quick post to let you know that an opportunity has come up for me to move to a new place at last and my daughter's staying with me. It's 2 blocks from the beach and they're very small blocks. I'll finally get a little peace from all the dramas in this neighbourhood. Can't wait. So... hectic now getting moved by next Thursday. Sorry I've not been around. It'll take me time to get settled and back to being able to check in more regularly.

Burntmarshmallow 05-23-2012 05:49 PM
