More Injections today
Hi guys,
My pain doc did some more nerve blocks this morning and boy has it made a difference. I don't feel as stiff or as rigid, more comfortable in my own skin. It just shows he's getting the right spot and for the surgeons to refuse to remove the problem to give back that freedom is archaic, cave man like, yes it is in an awkward place and yes I do think it won't be easy, even my pain doc is flabbergasted when he can see results like this. I do however feel extremely tired, my body has been fighting this battle way too long, it's no wonder and I've been pretty much asleep since the surgery. I'm getting sore too at he injection points. After the surgery he came up to tell me that he wants to write to the Insurance Company to see if they'll fund another SCS, i did ring them the other day, I hope so and I've no idea why he thinks they won't, he told me some time agopp they only fund one SCS because they are so expensive. Yes this is wonderful fantastic technology but it's like Irelands Celtic Tiger, there's no need for it, except for greed, if they were putting most off it back into research and maybe they are then I'll take most of it back! So I've to see him Wednesday, he maintains I'm good at letters, Mark is the only person I know that's good at letters, he could've just been nice to me! I introduced a young woman like myself to the forum today she was in the bed beside me, I do hope she says hi, I thinks like the rest of us, has loads to offer and could do with some support, for years all she's had is her family and friends and we know the strength in that but sometimes you need people who just share and know your pain. Time for more sleepies, Later alligators, :grouphug: Sinéad xxxx :) :) |
Blessed Sinéad
How could I possibly sign off for today seeing you had posted. I pray your DO'K who must be good with letters will persuade insurance for your behalf. Would that I might be in a position to share my mind with the insurance on your behalf; however, your physician can certainly do the job.
You have the strength of the Lord through my prayers for sure my dear friend. Hugs a bunch, Until the alligator comes again, Mark56:hug:z |
My injections yesterday
Hi guys,
After those nerve blocks, I feel looser in the centre of where some of my pain was, I think it will be just a little break but it definitely feels better. My hips are still hurting and unfortunately there is still some pain in my leg but that might because I haven't used it properly in a long time, it's not sciatica pain. I'm hoping my Insurance company will approve another SCS please say a prayer for me and a good letter from my Dr Thanks Until the alligators come again! Later crocodiles Sinéad :) |
Hi Sinead
Do I take it from your post that you are in hospital having an op or having the injections. It's great that they worked for you. I've never been lucky with those injections. I do hope you have success with the insurance company re the SCS. Still don't understand why they wouldn't give it to you. I've had a lot of surgeries over the years which has been expensive some within six months of each other and they were covered. One cost 100k€ so why not the SCS??? Please God they will. When do you get out of hospital? Jackie  |
That's definitely positive news x x. Yayyy

Hi guys
Hi guys,
I was only in for a few hours, nerve blocks, out again home to bed to rest. Jackie which company are you with? I don't understand either but I'm going to find out one way or the other and please God it will work out. Love to all Sinéad xxx :) |
Sinead I've sent you a pm ok

Hope the nerve blocks are successful for you, and keep blocking the pain! I've the injections several times over the years, with mixed results. I think it all depends on whether or not the doc finds the right spot, which I guess can be kind of dicey at times. I'll be praying that you continue to find relief!
Jan |
Hi Jan
I think you're right it does depend if he Dr hits the right spot and I've too have had many mixed results but this time he knows where my problem areas are because I can't find a surgeon to remove the scar tissue causing the problem because it's wrapped around the S1 nerve root and is awkward to get to, one surgeon would only give me a 2 % success rate and said it would probably grow back anyway within a matter of months so not really worth the risk, but in saying that, it obviously isn't hard for a needle to get to.
We are going to reapply to Insurance company next week to get my second SCS in and I'm praying that they will agree. How are you getting on, tell me all, I hate talking about me all the time! Nice chatting to you and please let me know about you. Sinéad :) :) xxx |
Sinéad...
Adding my prayers!
I hope your appt goes well on Wednesday and that you will be on your way to your new SCS. I know how much this means to you and it would sure mean the world to us to see you get the relief that you desperately need! Rae :smileypray::smileypray::smileypray: |
Rae
Hi Rae,
Thanks for the prayers I need them I can tell you and to have it done sooner rather than later instead of waiting for ages on the public system. I'll let you know on Wednesday how it all goes but that's just writing the letter and making it sound good. It could take another 2 weeks to get a reply. How ate you these days? Take care Sinéad :) :) |

Thanks for the updates regarding the SCS, and nerve root problem as well. Too bad the odds are so bad with the scarring returning. I know, often in many areas when scar tissue is removed, it frequently returns and sometimes even worse. Many prayers coming your way, (Gerry) |
Hi all
Hi guys,
I have that app this evening with my pain dr to write a letter seeking approval for another SCS, please God they will agree and hopefully I'll know within two weeks or so. As you know I had some nerve blocks on Saturday and so far I'm still feeling the benefits but boy am I still feeling wrecked, I only had sedation but it always effects me like this for at least a week, in a way I'm way too tired to travel to Dublin for this app even if it is only an hour away! My hips and left leg hurt like hell. Pauli is finishing work a little earlier so he can drive me. I'll let yee know later. Anyone any news? How are yee getting on, please do tell.... Chat later Sinéad xxx :) |
Sinéad...... Sure hope & pray the trip to Dublin for the letter of approval comes thru with a real positive for the SCS.
Since you asked; will tell.....lately, when getting up in the a.m., the legs really ache and walking very painful. It seems like things are getting worse in this area and of course, causes worry. As we know, sometimes not easy to keep a smile. But, try so hubby's day is not all gloom. Prayin, (Gerry) p.s. I am so proud that hubby showed me how to get the dash above the "e" in your name. As previously mentioned, his dad was from County Cork. |
Hi Gerry
Thank you for your lovely message! Ivd no news of today really, it's a waiting game now. Well done on the e fada (é) it should work for all the vowels á é í ó ú
Good to hear your hubby is an Irishman, you'll both be very welcome to Cork someday, they have a beautiful accent and some of the most amazing countryside you'll wonder why did he ever leave. I'll chat tomorrow cause I'm tired. Love to all Sinéad :) |
((((((((((((((( Sinéad )))))))))) Just checking to see how you're doing today. Are the nerve blocks working their magic for you? I hope and pray so....take care!

Hi Jan, Ger and mis amigos otro
Hi guys,
I meant to say Ger, I'm sorry to hear about your legs am, have to admit mine are the same and I need to get up to move my legs and hips, that seems to help but I think like your my pain can be worse in the mornings. Well Jan, after the nerve blocks the best day I had was Sunday, I even went over to my sister around the corner for a BBQ, I was there for a good while which can be difficult for me. I'm definitely feeling better from them but it's not enough if you know what I mean. How are your guys today? After two weeks of summer in Ireland, it's lashing rain but very humid. Chat soon Sinéad xxxx :) |
wish you well
May the roads rise with you,
And the wind be always at your back... judi Ionmhainean |
ah yes Typical!
After two weeks of summer in Ireland, it's lashing rain but very humid
Ah yes Sinead the good old Irish weather.....four seasons in one day is not unusual....AND getting the Winter in the Summer is also typical of our upside down weather.....maybe we should be renamed Australia :D :D Hope your feeling a bit better today Sinead and also that you hear very very soon about your SCS and that the insurance will cover this one too:hug: Take care Jackie  |
Old Irish blessing - interesting indeed
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand. Go n-éirí an bóthar leat Go raibh an ghaoth go brách ag do chúl Go lonraí an ghrian go te ar d'aghaidh Go dtite an bháisteach go mín ar do pháirceanna Agus go mbuailimid le chéile arís, Go gcoinní Dia i mbos A láimhe thú. Anyone know what it means? My Irish is not at all good but I can tell the translation is a bit off, the first line means, may you have a good journey! There are at least two more versus of this poem and it is Old style Irish. It sounds good though! Sinéad :) :) |
Ah, but my friend!

More's the liking to get you on Skype to teach me to speak the verse in the proper tongue!! Reading without the pronunciation leaves me wanting only a tad bit more! Do we need to travel there to learn the verse from ye in person? Prayin those blocks are helping you as what I received this morning is helping me. God be the guide to bring twin SCS units to remedy your needs and soon, Prayin, Mark56 for dear friend Sinéad:hug:zzzzzzz |
Hi Mark,
Okay so, over the weekend when we've more time I'll try to read it to you in native tongue but I must tell you my Irish is not good and my pronunciation has gotten very rusty. It's a very difficult language and isnt based on Latin or the Romantic Languages of say Spanish, Italian or French. If I were working I would ask one of the Lecturers in the Irish Languages to read it to you properly and if you remind me I'll do that anyway. Record it and put it up here if we're allowed but the translation is there its an Irish blessing it's not rude or anything. So what time do you wanna Skype this weekend, you decide and email me, be aware of the 8 hour time difference! I think I got between a 15-20% relief with nerve blocks which isn't bad but the other parts hurt, my hips, my left leg, the muscle cramps are rotten, like I've run a marathon each day. How are you getting on? Any news, scandal or gossip, how's Cleo, I hope she's okay. Has your summer arrived yet, we had almost two weeks of it and now it's gone, if we're lucky we'll get another few goods here and there, that's why I need a holiday to the US every year where I can get some sun into my bones but unfortunately until I return to work it will be local trips here and there. Good night my friend, I'm getting tired now. Sinéad xxxx :) :) |

What does Ionmhainean mean? Sinéad |
Sinéad .......Your Irish may be off; but it looks good in writing. We enjoy just seeing it in print.
Thank you so much. p.s. Hubby's dad only lived in Ireland for a year when he was a baby; then his Dad's family moved to Boston. Later moved to Chicago where his dad met and married an Irish lady.....Hubby's mother. Now... she being a Fitzgerald is how hubby got his middle name. How Irish is that???? (Gerry) |
Sinéad
Thank you for sharing that beautiful poetry....even in the midst of your pain and frustration....
You are a beautiful soul Rae  |
thanks
Thank you for completing the blessing, I have a little of it but did not know the entire thing.
According to one source, Ionmhainean is said to be the root of my surname, it means 'descended from the little beloved one' . Another author lists it as 'Ua Nemhanain' meaning 'no treasure or wealth' ( that sounds about right for me :) ), that individual was a Fennid/warrior in the 3ed century. I assume its just all folklore but I love the rich Irish culture and sagas. I don't know very much about it though and I think much of it was lost? We also came from Cork, Tullylease parish I think, but I don't know if that is still an actual name. I hope you are can find the pain relief you need, I'm not familiar with your condition but it sounds very painful. judi |
