My son Danny's Colonoscopy has been scheduled

Wow, this weekend and then Monday the 4th are going to be busy.

I'm so glad I had already taken Monday and Tuesday as Vacation
Day's. Even though I would have been able to take a sick day.

I am know scheduled to take him for his colonoscopy. I had already
told him I would. It seems its scheduled for 1:30pm. I will be anxious
to see what they find.

Also it seems there is discussion as to whether they might do surgery
to remove the intestine. Or whatever it is that causes the problem.

Well we will finally have some answers.

He has needed this test for a while. He is getting way to skinny.

If you don''t remember he has ulceretis colitis for sure. We are not
sure how bad it has become. The new doctor has changed his med.
I have no idea what he is on now I cant get anyone to spell it.

HE also is on prescription Iron because his is so low. He also has
to wear a special outfit because his lead is so high were he works.

He says he finally feels lots better than he has most of the winter.

Dear Donna,

Does he know what he is doing (or eating) differently since the winter?

At any rate, I am happy that he is doing better and has surgery scheduled.

Dmom3005 05-29-2012 05:32 PM

The thing different is the iron he is taking.

Sounds like things will happen rather quickly? I hope he doesn't have to have surgery that would be hard on him.
Thanks for letting us know.

Blowing off steam

Ugh, My son still hasn't gotten his directions in the mall.

And I don't know what will happen if they don't arrive tomorrow.

I am going to be gone starting tomorrow through Sunday.

I don't know if they don't come either in my box or his.
If he will do as I suggest and go get them. Or cancel.

I am not liking this at all. Just irritated that they didn't
arrive as they should have.

Ugh.

bizi 05-31-2012 09:39 PM

maybe you could call and have them faxed to you if you have a fax machine?
bizi

Dmom3005 05-31-2012 09:57 PM

I can't call. Thanks to HIPPA. Ugh.

And I don't know if my fax will finally work for just this thing.

Stopid thing.

But good idea. I might try to figure it out.

Okay, things worked out. And he had his colonoscopy today.

It even worked out that my husband was home and took him.

I have always believed the lord works in mysterious ways.

He was laid off as was the whole team he worked with on Friday,
and the contractor.

Anyway, Danny was diagnosed with Crohn's today.

We will have to keep a close eye on him. He needs to do a few
things immediately. But one is to improve his mood.

And another is get a primary doctor.

Donna:grouphug::hug:

Mari 06-04-2012 05:55 PM

Donna,

'Sorry to hear about the diagnosis. The good news is that doctors know what to do now to treat it.

Ask your doctor about extra vitamins and minerals you may need:

Iron supplements (if you are anemic)

Calcium and vitamin D supplements to help keep your bones strong

Vitamin B12 to prevent anemia
I know he is on iron. Maybe his doctors will add Calcium and vit D. Does he drink milk? Some people's doctors recommend that they stop taking milk.
His mood will improve as he starts to feel better.

'Sending good thoughts and prayers.

Thanks mari

And yes, he is worried right now that its a death sentence.

And it will help that my husband is around more to help with
this. We have a really good friend thats son. Was diagnosed
last summer and was at death's door when they found it.

I suggested my husband call him, and get some clues what it
all means too. But his idea is to take my son down to meet
the man. Which is a good idea too. Because he will get him
back on the road to working on this.

But I appreciate all the help.

I personally have felt for a while this was what was going
on. And treating for ulceratis colitis was what was wrong.
That we had moved to something else now.

I am sorry he has chrohns...my girl friend has this and has had to have many surgeries to remove part of her bowel.
can be very scarey.

Dmom3005 06-07-2012 03:30 PM

Good news. No cancer.

But they are doing some kind of x-ray type test next Wednesday per
Danny to determine for sure if its Crohns or Ulceratis colitis.

They aren't positive now.

Hmmm, so we will see.

Dmom3005 06-13-2012 07:26 PM

Today he went for a test, that turned into two test.

I was pretty sure he wasn't going to enjoy the taste of this test.
But at least it wasn't hours and hours of this one.

But he got a scare, they informed him the one test could take 5 hours.

Well gosh, I think they do this everytime. But it didn't the 2 took 1 1/2 hours
together or maybe 2 hours.

But he kept telling them he couldn't stay that long because he had
to go to work. Well gosh, I'm not surprised.

I think he will not be so upset to do the colonospy next time.

I was pretty sure this was going to be the worse of the testing.

Heehee.

Dear Donna,

Cancer free is good news! :yahoo:

That the two tests today went well is good news also.
Your son did well by agreeing to the tests and going through with them. I am happy for you and for him.
I hope that today's tests provide useful information so that the doctors can help him get better.

Keep taking care of yourself. :heartthrob:

bobby

BlueMajo 06-14-2012 11:52 AM

YAY !!! even when I know Chron's can be a pain in the *** hehe, it is always better than cancer you know... so, I think these are awesome news !!!

Still hoping he wont have Chron's either

When will you have the results ?

bizi 06-19-2012 10:57 PM

have you heard any results from the testing?

Dmom3005 06-20-2012 12:26 PM

Well there is a letter that just arrived today.

Waiting for him to come open it. I'm guessing he just went to
work, instead of coming to open it. Ugh.

I'm debating opening it. I am not happy with him.

Donna:grouphug::hug:

Dmom3005 06-22-2012 08:49 PM

Okay, he came yesterday, I forgot to come reply.

Ugh, shows how I sometimes get in a place I just forget.

But it said, I believe unremarkable. Which to me means nothing
shows up. But I'm not sure. He said, also they had finally gotten
him on the phone a day before or so. And told him it was fine.

bizi 07-04-2012 09:08 AM

that means no chrones or ulcerative colitis? Does he have symptoms? could be a gluten intolerance or lactose????
bizi

Dmom3005 07-04-2012 07:59 PM

Honestly don't know.

I would guess since he is still on the Ulceritis medicine. Its definately
still that.

I'm guessing now he is lactose intolerant. He doesn't drink milk.

And watches what he eats with it. No salads either.

He has certain foods he can't eat.

Dear Donna,

That's good that he does not drink milk. Is there a way for him to meet with a dietician who can help him come up with food plans?

M

Dmom3005 07-05-2012 08:39 AM

Probably, but we are working day to day.

Right now we are still working to get a regular doctor.

I need to remind my husband to stop at the office and
do that while they are out getting the van battery.

It was on the list originally for today.

Thanks.

He is feeling lots better right now. Its almost like
he is in remission. But I wouldn't dare tell him that.

DiMarie 07-08-2012 11:26 AM

What good news Donna, Glad it is nothing serious, but sorry he has so many miserable symptoms.

Myself, dd and one ds are terrible lactose intolerant. The older I got the more it affected me. There is so much hidden lactose in processed products, hot dogs; even things like a small amount of cole slaw, or summer salads with mayo kill me. I guess it is the eggs. With the lactose intolerance the eggs aggrivate too.

Yet I can make chipped beef in cream sauce, on toast and I am not sure it is the heat kills the active sugar part, but I can tolerate it. But not Alfredo sauce?

Read about the hidden lactose in foods, I just kinda know what will flare and stay away from it. Especially if working and on the road.
Hope he feels better,
di

Dmom3005 07-08-2012 03:56 PM

Luckily he can have eggs. He eats lots of them.

Its one food he really enjoys. its how he eats them that matters.

So we are careful how they are cooked. Mainly they are scrambled.

Just like me he can't have many fried ones.

Donna:grouphug::hug:

BlueMajo 07-10-2012 04:41 AM

Let me share what kills me... (I have gastric ulcers since I was 18):

onion
lettuce
carrot
cucumber
milk

As silly as it may sound, it took me AGES to realize what was killing me... I thought it was chocolate, coffee, etc... and... voila ! it was the above... We have to listen to our bodies because to be honest, I never liked the above... (well, I love milk, I take it without lactose)

Take care of ds !
