Ampyra

I was just approved for taking Ampyra on Monday. To my surprise this morning I received my pills by UPS. I’ve been reading up on other people’s experience with the drug, and I am hopeful that it will improve my symptoms.

So, wish me luck. I’ll keep you all informed.

Well, I took my first pill nearly two hours ago, and I'm not cured yet!

Seriously, though, I'll bore you with my results when I have any.

Look forward to hearing more about your progress.

So far I don't feel much change. I think the Ampyra upsets my stomach a little bit. Not much, but I'm feeling a little nausea. That's not all bad. It'll cut down on snacking. 8)

Yesterday, day one, I felt kind of weak, so I decided not to push myself much. Today is pretty much the same as yesterday. I'll post again if I feel any change.

The improvement I felt was slow and subtle, but definitely there. Now, I can really tell if I've missed a dose. My legs feel heavy again.

Good luck to you Marion!

Any side effects, Sparky? How long have you been on A?

Sparky10 06-25-2012 12:40 PM

Been on it maybe a year and a half(?) No side effects for me.

I'm now on Ampyra, too. I started it last week. My neuro had me start at one per day for a week and then two per day after that. I'm still at the one per day dose.

I have felt better one day and then awful the next and have also noticed increased spasticity. I don't know if I'm subconsciously doing more on the days I feel better and then paying for it the next day or what.

Anyone else notice any of these things?

My neuro wants me to try this. I got some ppwk in the mail today and I suppose I'll have to wait for the patient financial assistance forms to get here. I hope it helps my walking.

SallyC 11-30-2012 08:34 PM

I've heard some good things about it. I hope it helps you too.

Hi Kitty, I tried it and I just happen to react to it. I was on it for awhile
but I started getting headaches and stomach problems. Took me off and
the problems went away. I was just one of those who had a problem with it.

I have heard a lot of good things about it. I filled out a lot of paper work
and was approved to get the med. for free.

I wish you well with it.

Jappy

I've been on it for several months and I do find that it helps. It is not a miracle, but I haven't had any bad side effects and it helps enough that I don't want to be without it.
