muscle pain

my left upper arm is killing me. the muscle is throbbing like to cry and my pain meds that I am on is not working.

NurseNancy 06-24-2012 10:36 PM

what may help is some heat. i use my heating pad a lot for my muscle pain and it works for me.

remember 20 min's on 20 min's off. you can dry a muscle out if you use too much heat for too long a time.

if a position you're sitting in is causing pain try to change it up.
also if you know of a massage therapist that will also help.

Thanks Judy I am getting ready to put it on. I was just walking around with a bag of candy from the freezer on my arm lol. This is really so new to me to be hurting all over my body at any given time. My back has been the issues for so many years of my life.

Now my calf

Now I went out the other night and I had to go up and down steps and I park the car a block away so I had to walk back to the car. When I got home my calf were killing me so I thought it was just because I have not worked out my legs in a while and it would go away. It has been 2 days and I can hardly walk when I stand up because of how the back of my legs hurt so bad and bending them back and forth to walk is really hard. It will not stop.

Sound inflamed...maybe a little ice on it this time? Feel better.

Thanks Sally I didn't have any ice but I used the heating pad and it made it feel so much better. I am so new to this, it is not all the way gone but I can at least walk.

something else that is new to me is the hot sweating. I was having hot flashing because of menopause but now I get hot and then I just start sweating all over.

i can't remember if you have a definite dx (diagnosis) of MS.
if you do maybe your dr would consider giving you a handicapped sticker. it really helps to park closer to your destination. it saves energy and pain.

You should try Flexeril, it works like a charm. It is given to Fibro patients. I started it four days ago and have been pain free. I'm just worried though that when I stop on Thursday that my pain will return.

Mariel 07-03-2012 12:13 AM

Do you have to stop Flexeril, Carebear?

carebear01 07-03-2012 10:44 AM

Yes, my neuro wanted me on it for only one week. I guess you are not suppose to be on this for any more than three weeks. I'll have to read about it again. I have two more nights on it. I'll post back and let everyone know if my pain comes back.

I have a handicap plate already because I am disable from my back injuries. My neuro said MS put me in the hospital for the steriod infusion and then once my bp went up really really high she wanted to take it back because it was no way the steroids did that she said, I go to Jefferson Hospital MS ctr on the 16th. So in my chart is had MS and then she put in my chart she think it was something else but she don't know what because she test me for everything there was.
