Anyone watching Longmire this summer?

I found this show by accident one night ( a rerun at 2am) and
really liked it.

It is onDemand from A & E on cable too.

I rather like Robert Taylor who plays the Sheriff, Walt Longmire.
Finally a rugged guy I can relate to at my age! ;) :p :o

All the cast is great, good writing, good direction, and outdoor locations enjoyable to watch. And, oh.... Longmire does NOT have a cell phone either! LOL A nice western for a change.

Episode 3 is rather a tear jerker... horses...and sadness...so have the Kleenex handy.

OH MY!!! Yes, I started watching it, too!!! It is a great show. And yes, I cried on episode 3!!

jprinz99 07-23-2012 10:09 AM

my husband and I love the show. Finally something we can both enjoy (and it's not like all the reality show garbage...)

we have the DVR programed to record whole season to make sure we don't miss an episode

mrsD 07-23-2012 10:39 AM

Oh, I am glad to see some others watching now too! The show is gaining momentum.

Last night's episode was fantastic.

I follow it on IMDB and it appears to have been renewed for next season! YAYYY!

I'll miss the last two episodes though with our long trip...DANG!

SallyC 07-25-2012 11:23 PM

ME TOO...Love it!

mrsD 05-25-2013 12:18 PM

Season two begins.... Monday night.

Longmire is back. First episode in Monday night on A &E...
check your area for time. (May 27th according to IMDB)

I love this show. ;)

Kitty 05-26-2013 04:06 PM

I just saw it advertised to begin Monday night on A&E. I'm planning to watch it.

mrsD 05-26-2013 04:25 PM

If you haven't seen the first season, they are rerunning it this weekend, and also on OnDemand on cable which ends on 5-27.

There is a story line they will be continuing this season, that started last season.

I really love this show. It is slow moving, very human, and I like Robert Taylor very much. It has been a long time since I found a "hero" type to enjoy on TV. So while there IS a crime to work out, and solve each episode, the method is very subtle and different from other current TV shows. It reminds me of the author, Tony Hillerman, who wrote American Indian crime stories in a similar manner. Hubby and I have read all his books, over the years, and now sadly he has passed away.

I am so glad they renewed the series for this season, as it started off very slowly.

Flightofbees 06-05-2013 03:59 PM

yeah watched it last year pretty good show...liked the ending with the guy getting handled up on by the mire in the basement
better than most shows out there

mrsD 06-05-2013 04:49 PM

So far the first two this 2nd season are very very good.

The first one started the season off with a "bang"...!

AllyC 06-08-2013 08:35 PM

I'm looking into it, it sounds interesting. I just finished Desperate Housewives (I know, I'm so late in watching it) and I don't really have a TV show right now that really really captivates me.

mrsD 05-09-2014 06:57 AM

Season 3

Season 3 begins Monday, June 2 on A&E For Longmire.

I am eager to continue with this show!

PamelaJune 05-09-2014 09:13 AM

Longmire

Loved series 1 and season 2 starts next week. Looking forward to it. Very much took me by surprise, not sure why, but def not what I expected it was going to be. Loving Justified as well...

Mari 05-14-2014 05:24 AM

Thanks for the recommendation. We can get that on Netflix.

Yes love that show. I was excited to see my Netflix finally got season 2 up. Won't start watching the 3rd tonight. Want to finish 2 first. I wonder if they will replay it through the week?

mrsD 06-03-2014 11:30 AM

The first episode this season was very good. Longmire just never disappoints me! ;)

mrsD 09-16-2014 08:45 AM

Well, I have returned to the real world and TV, and have discovered that Longmire has been cancelled by A&E! I missed the last 3 episodes and Comcast has no longer put missed episodes up for this season. The few other shows I watch onDemand are now posting a fee to watch!

I am so sick of TV anyway... I guess I will be boycotting most TV now! Cable is very expensive..and I refuse to pay for onDemand

Longmire had a huge audience but was dumped anyway.
There is a long discussion about this at IMDB forum for that program. sigh

jprinz99 09-17-2014 11:21 AM

finally get a really good series, made for actual adults. Good actors, good story lines, beutifully shot, loyal and growing following, etc.

No wonder they cancelled it - it isn't 'reality' TV and we arent the "right demographic".

I really, really hope another network picks it up. If anybody hears updates please clue us in.

Yes, my avatar is Weezie. She is 3 yrs old now. She was about 1 yr old when I took that photo.

More of her and our other black=Maya in my profile pictures.

Weezie has Bombay fur (I adopted her as unregistered)...which is different from other black cats. It is more shiney and has little underfur. Maya is a black tabby and her markings sometimes show. She is more typical and softer.

jprinz99 07-17-2015 11:12 AM

on the chance you hadn't heard- new season/episodes of Longmire will air this fall on Netflix (they picked up the show and said they will continue to make new episodes Yay!)

Lara 10-18-2015 04:14 AM

I remembered this thread.

I've just started watching it on Netflix and I am enjoying it.
I like his character. He has a heart of gold and he's honest and fair to boot. I wondered why Robert Taylor looked familiar, so I looked him up and found out where he came from. I remember him from The Matrix now. I can never hear any Australian accent at all. Lou Diamond Phillips is excellent as well. It's great viewing. I wouldn't have known about it if not for this older thread. :)

mrsD 10-18-2015 08:07 AM

Longmire, is my HERO! sigh....

I am not surprised you like him too, Lara.

Lara 10-21-2015 05:57 PM

I've really been enjoying all the music on this show.

example below. Season 4 Episode 5

Michigan by The Milk Carton Kids.

mrsD 10-22-2015 12:11 AM

I like the music too.

The whole Longmire production is first rate in
everything IMO. ;)

KnowNothingJon 01-22-2016 02:55 PM

I just finished episode one of season one after a half day of work. I think this is my go to show when time permits.

KnowNothingJon 01-24-2016 12:19 AM

Episode 4 season 1. Hooked like the two dead peeps at the start.

Lara 01-24-2016 01:44 AM

I forget where I got up to because I was watching it on Netflix or something and I cancelled that a while back. It was a huge cliffhanger ending. I gathered there were more to come and we just didn't have them here in Australia yet. I hope to see more of it one day soon.

Great you're enjoying it. I certainly did

KnowNothingJon 01-24-2016 09:54 PM

Henry to Longmire- Is that the reason you came here? To judge me?

Longmire- Well, not the only reason...

I am burning through episodes. We had a lazy winter day and I had headphones and a tablet going quite a bit.

KnowNothingJon 01-30-2016 01:05 PM

Knee deep in season three. Walt, Henry, I think I like them both equally. The story Henry tells Branch about how he and Walt csme to meet in 6th grade was brilliant.

If you enjoy Westerns, cop shows, detetctive shows, well done narratives that weave throughout seasons, Longmire. I'm not surprised AMC had their hand in starting this, though I am shocked they dropped the ball in npt continuing it. Kudos to Netflix for picking it up.

The writers understand nuance so well. I'd give examples, but frankly I don't want to spoil the ride. If you are looking for a new show, Walt for prez.

mrsD 01-30-2016 01:18 PM

It is fun to see you enjoying this so much. Longmire had really good reviews, but A & E cancelled it anyway. I don't have Netflix, so
I have only seen the first 2 seasons. Eventually I'll catch the rest.

I really like this show. The actors, scripts, and settings are so well done! TV is becoming a wasteland.

A new show this season, is Lucifer... which I just saw the first episode of. It may turn out very well I think. You might like it too.

Hubby and I both enjoy Supergirl...which is very well done also.

I find most TV today to be "too much"....Too much violence, gore, cruelty, etc.

PamelaJune 01-31-2016 04:51 AM

One of my favourites

Hoping, so hoping it continues. Fabulous program, but then I do like a lot of different shows as well. The Killing, Justified, Nashville and the list goes on.

Lara 03-13-2016 07:12 PM

Does anyone over there have any news about new episodes at all?

PamelaJune, I enjoyed Nashville as well. I wonder if they'll have new ones of that anytime soon. Have you watched Friday Night Lights (series not the movie)? That had Connie Briton (sp?) in it as well.

KnowNothingJon 03-13-2016 07:24 PM

I believe this summer or fall... I hope that is still good info. I really, really love Walt and Henry.

PamelaJune 03-17-2016 12:09 AM

I watched the entire Friday Night Lights" when it was out in Foxtel, not box sets, just each week. I loved it. Funnily enough I never saw the movie.
