Shoes that fit?

After seven months of trying to figure out what is going on with my foot, the docs have finally diagnosed me with RSD. I was given a prescription for Neurontin, and that has really helped the sensitivity (thank goodness), but nothing seems to help the swelling. My affected area is the ball of my foot, and the area on top right behind my toes. By 4pm, the swelling is crazy, even if I'm off my feet a good part of the day.

My problem is, with the swelling in the front part of my foot, I can't get a shoe on. I've been using an orthopedic boot whenever I leave the house partially because I can't get a shoe on, but also because it helps me avoid walking on the swollen and painful ball of the foot.

I finally discovered Teva sandals fit because the toe strap can be expanded so far. But I live in snow country. What shoe can I possibly wear once cold weather comes that will fit? Anybody have any ideas?

Shoes

Have you tried a pair of 'UGGS'? They are made very large and are soft boots inside and out. Very cute too...black ones will go with anything :) I live in Washington State and during the winter there are times that I have to force myself to put a shoe on...and everytime I pick the UGGS because they are the most comfy and best looking. I have CRPS in my Right foot as well and have the same problem. I hate only being able to were one shoe! I hope this helps!

Great idea! Thanks! I hear they're pricey, but I'll take a look around. I appreciate it!

That's True

That's true, they are a bit pricey but well worth it! And they'll last forever. You might want to try looking for a pair online...like Amazon, or Ebay. Also, usually if you buy them online even at Nordstrom (where I got mine) you get them at a somewhat reduced price :)

I have CRPS in my foot; especially the big toe.

What I found most comfortable is New Balance athletic shoes that are "BOTH" longer and wider than I normally would wear. That reduces pressure on sensitive areas of the foot. For example pre-CRPS I would take a size 10-D. Now I buy a size 10.5-E.

I buy the ones with an open toe box and fabric on the top (running shoe) instead of leather.

It helps a lot but of course is only one thing in the cocktail of things we try to get relief.

Good luck!

no tie sneaks?

I don't have the RSD in my feet but in my left hand/arm. Although I still have aloot of function I still can't tie my own shoes (buttons and zippers are tough too) I have a pair of sneakers that slip on but not very comfy. Anyone have any other comfy sneakers that don't tie?? I have UGG boots and they are great and so very comfy!

I have RSD in both feet. I cannot walk bare footed as texture of rugs hurt and temp of hard floors hurt so my wife bought me memory foam open backed slippers for inside and moccasins 3 sizes larger for outside. and I need to wear sneakers 3 sizes to big as well..

My daughter can only wear TOMS, she loves them and they are really soft.

NEW BALANCE, with proper sizing!

Dansko clogs (mules so nothing is on my heel). I have the RSD in my heel and arch mostly. It also goes up the back of my leg (think Achilles area). I cannot handle to rest my feet on the bed or anything else. I cannot wear any shoe that goes over my heel. :(. I live in AZ so I can get away with the
Mules All year.

Love my teva sandals! In winter I wear clogs because they are wider. Also bass makes some great boots that are wide
