chi machine

Anyone use a chi machine for neuropothy?

I have had a chi machine for years, have used it off and on, more off than not, lol.

When my neuropothy first appeared I started researching chi machine for it and found many chi machine sites claim it helps. There were also many reviews from people who say it helped. But ya never know if its real or not.

I have been using mine morning and night consistantly but Im not sure if its helping or not since I have done so many other things at the same time.

In theory it seems like it might help since chi machines circulate blood, and oxygen, especially to fee.

Anyone here use one?

IDK. Maybe it works for some, or seems to, and not for others. Maybe some who have tried it will be along.

Yup, I think it helped me , but the problem was their all too fast and vibrate , so the end result does no negate the gains ( I have EDS / HMS / Cranial settling ) you see

I was considering trying this last year before I took my bed, but mainly because it doesnt vibrate or move too fast, like most of these devices - it also has some positive reviews..

I have neuropathy in my feet and find that massaging helps relieve the prickling and cold feeling. I tried several others and this was by far the most effective. However after about a year the plastic became brittle and both feet broke off. Also the cloth cover was wearing out and unable to find a replacement.

Well the sun ancon is the only one with the figure 8 configuration of the fish and is patented...all other name brands just go back and forth, and as I understand it is the specific figure 8, like a fish, lol, that benefits.

I don't sell them or anything. Actually it was given to me by my mother in law years ago and has sat mostly unused until this neuropothy. She gave it to me cuz it claims to help lose weight, but ya, whatever, lol.

But I do believe it helps me, especially with the burning. Last night my toes were on FIRE and I used it and and hour later burning gone. Was it the chi? I believe so but its all a crap shoot, lol. But usually burning that bad lasts all night.

Jomar 08-01-2012 12:42 PM

I bought a chi machine last spring , I don't have PN, I have TOS/RSI/myofascial
discomfort. It seems to help for those , but I use other modalities too.
I like the energized feeling it gives and it does say they help to loosen up, detox and invigorate the body.

Stacy2012 08-27-2013 12:09 PM

Ok so I found this old post for a reason.

I had stopped using my chi machine last year when I developed a knee/back problem and then just forgot about it. You know how you get all busy trying to find what works for pain control for pn that you let some things go while trying new things.

Well last month, actually 2 weeks ago, things have been awful for me. The whole last 3 months its been dreadful and I have been depressed.

So I have again been trying new things and old ones and this chi machine is one of them. I dug it back out, because in theory it just makes sense that it would help IF circulation is a problem for PN in feet and burning.

The last 7 days, or more specifically nights, have been heaven.

Why?

I dunno. The new/old things I am doing:

Chi machine morning and night
Vitamin C

Is it one of these that is helping ? I dunno. Is it coincidence? I dunno. All I do know is the last 7 days have been heaven, sleeping 8 hours again, in my bed, not on the couch.

When I am done doing the chi machine I get the "tingle'' that it talks about but I notice my toes feel it too now, where as use to be only my right ones and only vaguely. Now both feet and all toes feel the rush of tingle when I shut off the machine.

Anyway, chi or not, I am praying it continues.

We looked at that machine and then someone turned us onto inferred lights. We purchased foot pads for my Mom and the results have been amazing. There is a lot of crap out there though so you have to be careful. *admin edit*. It increases circulation and increases N/O. My Mom has been very happy

Stacy2012 08-30-2013 12:31 PM

I had an infra red dome that went with my chi machine, I never used it much and gave it to my father in law who wanted it. After I gave it away is when I learned of all the things I SHOULD have been using it for.

I am loving my chi machine now. Especially on days I don't exercise, using this twice a day definately helps.

Sallysblooms 08-30-2013 01:54 PM

Stacy, I have talked about my Infrared dome before. I also have the FIR pad. Infrared heating pad. I LOVE both.:)

i saw alot of chi machines on the web including the original japanese one which sells for about $400. which brand do you have? i would like to try it but some brands i found on amazon were cheaply made & broke after about 6 months.
thanks!

Well as I said a few replies back:

I do believe the sun ancon is THE best, but I did not buy mine it was given to me and it is not cheap. The main difference is the figure 8 configuration and the speed.

If mine ever breaks I would get another sun ancon.

Sallysblooms 09-01-2013 06:04 PM

Have you looked at the dome and FIR infrared pad for circulation and healing. Feels so good.

Stacy2012 09-03-2013 04:42 PM

Heat is the LAST thing I could enjoy, lol but i know what you mean. Im so obsessed with trying to avoid heat of any kind to avoid a flare up.

superstar 09-17-2013 08:58 AM

Stacy,

Thanks to your post I have just bought a used Sun Ancon chi machine and it should be delivered early next week. I hope I find it as useful as you have done. I have neuropathy and see my neuro for the first time next week. I only have burning and numbness but no pain thankfully and just in legs all the way up to torso. Luckily my arms are fine at the moment and just hope it does not progress. I also have back ache, neck ache and frozen shoulder so that chi machine will be put to good use, in fact if it does as much as I have read it can do I will be a new woman LOL, thanks again.

Stacy2012 09-17-2013 09:46 AM

I sure pray you find relief with it!!!

Just a few notes about it:

The directions say start out at only 3 minutes. I laughed at that, thought it was stupid and jumped in at 10 minutes. 4 days later I had headaches, and flu like symptoms. Upon research I found out why. The chi machine is stimulating the lymph system which is GOOD, however, you can have a lot of toxins in your lymph system and too much too fast can give you flu like symptoms until they clear out. Matter of fact my neck glands got swollen once when I was using detox supplements and it was the chi that helped my over loaded lymph system to help clear out the toxins. So start out slow and drink lots of water to flush out toxins.

Also, if you have any back pain or knee pain, the directions say use a pillow under your knees. I have to do this. I have knee pain in my left knee so I wear my cloth knee brace to stabilize my knee and I use the pillow, doing this solved my knee problems.

Also, I use an exercise mat to lay on, keeps my lower back from hurting.

Geeze, I sound old don't I? lol

I have the old sun ancon, its 17 years old!!! So it does not have the nice new comfy cushion on it to protect ankles so I use a folded up towel. If you have a newer one, lucky you!! I want to get a new one just for that reason.

I have had mine for 17 years, used it off and on, never consistantly, never thought it was doing anything but kept it. I use it everyday, twice a day sometimes 3 times a day now, and I can't live without it. It has been a miracle for helping me through the night and stop flares. I also believe it really is doing what they say it does with the lymph system.

Good luck, let me know how it goes! I pray it is a blessing for you!

Stacy2012 09-17-2013 10:20 AM

Oh, I forgot, you know that "chi energy" they talk about? They say when you shut the machine off, to lay still for a few minutes and you will feel the "chi energy" go through your body from your feet to your head, like a tingle rush. Well, I never felt that when I first started, but after about 2 weeks I felt it, and now I feel it every time and its strong now!!

Now look, I know that can sound stupid. I am not sure I even believe in it, lol I am just saying, that it definately happens now, whatever it is, lol. Supposedly, if you don't feel it at first, it is because your "chi" is blocked. :D

Whatever the case, I now have a great, open, tingly, chi!!! lol

I also always follow the instructions of doing it on an empty stomach if I can, unless a flare happens I do it no matter what, and I always drink water before and after.

superstar 09-17-2013 12:44 PM

LOL it sounds wonderful to me! I also read that if you are over 55 you should start off slowly, I am 63 but would have probably jumped in for the full 10 minutes if you hadn't mentioned it, so thanks for that. I will let you know how it goes, I think my husband and I will be fighting over who gets the first go LOL. It is "supposed" to be about two years old so I was told but bought it from Ebay and don't think it has anything padded so will try the towel trick, thanks.

Stacy2012 09-17-2013 01:54 PM

Well 2 yrs is young, mine is 17 yrs! :D

Well it finally arrived late on Friday and we have both used it twice a day for 5 minutes at a time. I do think my upper back pain is a little bit better but no difference with the PN burning yet. My husband was feeling really good after using it but today is feeling achy but he did get a flu shot on Saturday and doing some work at Sons house yesterday which he usually leaves him feeling a bit achy anyway.

Early days but as pleased with it so far and will gradually increase the time up to 10 minutes twice a day.

Stacy2012 09-23-2013 12:13 PM

It has not gotten rid of my PN but it sure does help. If I am in the middle of a bad burn flare I will use and it lessons the duration of the flare.

I always use it morning and night, and then again if I have a bad flare.

Keep me updated, I sure pray it works for you.

Stacy2012 10-04-2013 09:25 AM

Superstar, how is it going with your new chi??

Well, I confirmed again that mine is helping me. last night I decided to skip using my chi before bed, I felt I neeeded to give my knee a rest since it was hurting from new exercise that I started this week.

Last night was the worse night I have had in months. I was up until 5 am wih burning. Finally at 5am I decided to go use the chi machine and sure enuf it helped stop my flare and by 5:30 I was in my own bed and sleeping.

Tell me how you are doing??

superstar 10-05-2013 03:26 AM

Hi Stacy,

Really pleased to hear that it is helping you so much, anything that helps right?

I used it for 5 days twice a day and then I had my first neuro appt. and he said he thinks I may have spinal compression or impingement and am schedulec for an MRI in two weeks. He said if it gets worse to go back to ER and I think I will go on Monday as I feel the numbness/strength in my legs is worse. In his office I had to squat and then get up on my own which I could barely do but now i can't do it at all and this is in just one week so am a bit worried that if I wait another two weeks for MRI things may be a lot worse by then.

After he said it may be spine related I thought using the Chi machine was not a good idea, at least until I find out if that is the cause or not as it certainly jiggles the spine around.

Thanks for asking and hope you continue to get good results with your Chi.

Stacy2012 10-05-2013 09:38 AM

Oh gosh I am so sorry to hear that!!!!

Be careful and I am praying good things for you.

superstar 10-10-2013 11:45 AM

Hi Stacy,

I have posted under first neuro appointment the events of the last few days and to cut a long story short had MRI which showed mass in spinal column and am going for outpatient appointment tomorrow with neurosurgeon and in the meantime I am on steroid to shrink it/stop it getting worse.

I think using the Chi machine is definately out of the question for the moment until I get more answers.

Will update when I can.

Stacy2012 10-10-2013 12:12 PM

Oh gosh I am sorry to hear that!!

Maybe your hubby can use it.

I hope the best for you!!!
