Redness in hands and feet - Swollen or puffy on bottom of feet
Hello,
Does anyone experience redness in their hands and or feet that is alleviated by raising the hands or feet above the heart? Does this sound like a symptom of Neuropathy? Erythromelalgia? If you experience this issue and have some form of Neuropathy does rasing your hands or feet above the heart help? I do not have searing pain and heat at night where I cannot cover my feet with the sheets, so not sure about Erythromelalgia? My hands or feet are either ice cold or red and warm. Since I do not have a formal DX, I am left searcing at this time. Thanks to anyone who responds! |
My toes get red and hot when I am having an "episode" and they are tingly. But I dont thinks its the same as yours cuz it does not feel better by raising them.
sorry I cant help, maybe someone will come along soon with advice. |
Hi Stacy2012,
Raising the feet or hands above the heart does not really make them feel better, just makes the swelling/redness in the feet or redness in the hands subside. |
Well I am stil trying to figure out what is going on with me, so Iam not sure I can offer any help.
Supposedly my PN is from hypo thyroid. Or, in my own opinion, purely self diagnosed, lol, I believe I am pre diabetic and spikes in glucose for years has caused my pn. Either way, I have not found any help with it yet. My dr is just waiting (hoping) thyroid meds fix it. But I do have severe burning in my toes. Right now it is just my toes. Sometimes they burn so bad I want to chop them off. I have no cure, nor do I take any drugs for it...yet. I just pray the episode goes quickly, and it does seem to come in episodes, mostly at night. sorry I cant offer anymore than that. |
I also experience the redness
Hi there,
I also experience redness quite frequently. My hands and feet also get really hot and feel like they are burning. Sometimes, I have to take my feet out of the bed because they feel so warm. Do any of you also get the opposite- freezing, painfully cold, blueish feet/ toes? I find these two alternate for me. |
Nope, no cold for me, almost sounds like a vacation, lol. I wonder what people do for the burning inferno, cuz I cant find anything to help it.
But I cant put my feet under any covers, not even a sheet. I let them hang out and if they are burning I have a fan that blows on them, which helps. |
I know what you mean! I do the same with the fan and mine most often comes on at night, as well.
I wonder if it is circulation related? |
Well I use the sun ancon chi machine and I feel it does help. But it has not solved my problem and if it were just a circulation problem, the chi machine would fix it, it has many uses and circulation is top of the list. I still use it twice a day, thinking it is helping. Plus its good for lots of other things.

Oh interesting! I will have to look into tjhat machine.
Is it one of those ones that shakes your feet? |
Yes.
It was given to me years ago by my inlaws. Among many other things it is supposed to be good for, it included losing weight, lol, which to my dismay never seemed to prove true. I guess if it sound too good to be true to wiggle your legs to lose weight it probably is not true, haha. However, I have had it for years and never been consistant with the use of it until now and oddly I am losing weight, lol. But I also have completely changed my diet and am on thyroid meds so...lol. BUT I do agree it helps greatly with circulation. Alot of people with edema use it successfully in my family. I pulled it out of the closet when this PN started with me and I do feel my episodes are shorter if I use it during an episode of burning/tingling. Oh, FYI, supposedly only the sunancon is patented by the chinese with the use of the figure 8 movement like a fish and is the best. All other machines simply wiggle legs back and forth instead of the figure 8. And honestly, the machines are expensive, had it not been given to me, I would never have purchased it on my own most likely. |
Do you have to stand to use it or just sit?
That is great you have found some relief from it and that it helps with other things as well (weight)! Too bad it is so expensive! I am trying to think of ways I can keep my blood moving without moving too much. It is believed I have burning nerve pain in the glute/hamstring area which is greatly restricting my movement, and, as a result, think I have some circulation issues. It is possible my sciatic nerves are pinched, though I am not sure of the cause yet. When the stabbing pain, weakness, and muscle spasms get too bad, I can hardly move for days and then have to really slowly add in movement again. Thanks again for the info Stacy! |
well it definately moves the blood and helps circulation. It is sorta like rebounding if you have heard of that, where you jump on the trampoline and it helps the blood dump toxins...well I know this does help with that because I had to start out slowly, cuz when I first started out I thought, oh no big deal, I can do 20 minutes, it just wiggles my legs, and I got sick.
Supposedly it dumps toxins out of the lymph and blood and many other things, and I do believe it. Yes, you lay down. Google chi machine by sunancon |
Interesting!
Thanks Stacy! |
