Getting so Anxious, but happy

I have a Workshop I've been dreaming about for years tomorrow.

Its Communication between Parents and schools.

So far we have 20 registered for it. I think more professionals than
parents so far. Its going to be a first or close to it.

That I've had the count. That I've known so many are professionals.

I am a little concerned the news didn't get to parents.

I should have figured out a way to get it to them. Ugh.
I thought I was.

Well my workshop went well.

But I'm disappointed, we only had 15 present plus the 3 of us. And the
Director.

I'm a little upset for some reason I only had four parents.

I know I had 3 or 4 more RSVP, so its sad they didn't show up.

But its life, and its the way it gets.

It could be because of the Presidential debate that was tonight. It was a big one. Was your meeting during the evening,or during the day? BF:hug::hug::hug:

Mari 10-16-2012 11:41 PM

Donna,

You have a good start. :circlelove:

You can build on this by scheduling another one of these.

I am sure that the people there benefited greatly.

Dmom3005 10-17-2012 02:24 PM

Steve

Luckily, the person doing the workshop for us. Wanted to start at 5:30pm
and we ended at 7:30. The debate started at 9:00pm.

So it was well over before it started. They had time to get home.
But lots of other meetings and things were going on. Its the end of lots
of fall sports for our area. So I am competing with other things.

I can't have this particular one over. Because we weren't given the handout.
He wasn't willing to do it again. So we will have to figure out how to
do something like it if we want something close.

What is really irritating is parents, complain school personnel doesn't come
and when they are there. My parents aren't. But it happens sometimes.

I will just have to work on it.

Well checking in again.

Had a great night Saturday with Derrick.

He set up a neat halloween table.

We are really having windy weather. So much so my husband chose
to stay up north tonight. WOw.

I got word today, that a offer I made was taken up today. I am
being given the chance to talk for about 10 minutes about.
IN*SOURCE and things for parents at a transition night on November 12th.

Usually I wouldn't even offer.

So I'm really glad I was given the chance. Wow.

Dmom3005 10-31-2012 10:26 AM

Thanks Bizi

I just had to send the email to my supervisor. Just so she could see
my success. She emailed me back we would talk next Tuesday.
Our usual time. Then she said, Or will that be soon enough?

I thought it was considerate to think about whether it would be too
much worry for me otherwise.

But its technically just fine. I'm just stoked.

I also added 4 or 5 new kids yesterday and today. WOW,

Donna:grouphug::hug:

BlueMajo 10-31-2012 12:12 PM

Blue,

In this case I'm doing a 2 hour presentation about our state law for special
education.

Donna:grouphug::hug:

BlueMajo 10-31-2012 05:04 PM

Awwww !!! got it now !!!

Oh how cool !!!!!!!

bizi 11-01-2012 08:16 AM

you are brave speaking in front of people will you have an outline or do you just speak off the cuff?
bizi

Dmom3005 11-01-2012 11:24 AM

The 2 hour presentations we have powerpoints.

The 10 minutes I will pretty much off the top of my head.

Thats why my supervisor wants to make sure I know what I'm
talking about. I've done something close to this before.

But I've not been the only one talking about were parents can
find help with my kind of things. Thats what I want to know.
How much I should talk about other things. Or if I should just
have the sheets telling them were the help is.

I usually have those with me too.
I can talk for hours, so that part isn't a problem.:grouphug:

Donna,

. . . .Some thoughts . . . .

Sheets might be plenty. After you discuss what is on the sheets, people will have questions.

M

Dmom3005 11-01-2012 05:14 PM

Mari

That is technically what I think too.

My supervisor isn't sure I am able to do these by myself. So she likes
to make sure. I and others keep telling her other wise. So its just
a thought process.

I just wanted to run it by her.

Donna:grouphug:

BlueMajo 11-01-2012 05:28 PM

I hate to speak in front of people Donna !!!

I admire you so much !!!

Ms manic 11-02-2012 12:31 AM

I have to speak impromptu - usually with very little notice. Its gone well to date but I find I have to quash an onslaught of nerves and keep my hands hidden in the moments just before. Once I start talking I'm ok. Toastmasters a few years ago really helped. Crazy this disease - some tasks it incapacitates, others it gifts.

Dmom3005 11-02-2012 09:15 AM

Ms Maniac

When I talk impromtu, I'm fine its the knowing ahead of time that I've got
to talk that makes me really nervous.

And when I have a 2 hour presentation. I'm getting a lot better.

I used to have a real problem with my asthma, it really would start to
make me cough through the whole presentation. So it made it really
hard to talk.

So the main office had me presenting with a co-worker, who is so good
that she is now the main one doing our webinars. So they think of her
as "god" so to speak.

But they have decided she wont be coming down now. Which I had already
decided I was ready to do it by myself. And had been choicing some to do myself. So it wasn't a problem.

I'm really okay with it.

But I still have those butterflies if I think it might be a crowd.

Donna:grouphug::hug:

Dmom3005 11-06-2012 07:27 AM

Okay, I got all 5's on the comment sheets. This is very good. Now
I just hope my supervisor doesn't think its not their scores.

Because it really is. I am surprised usually at least one of the scores
will be a 4 or 3 instead.

I didn't get a lot of comments in the comment part. Which isn't unusual.

Especially, when the group is so small and they are professionals instead
of parents. But one was both a parent and professional but because
the democratic sheet says mark one she didn't mark that she is both.

Ugh, most people mark both. So I had to change it. And need to put
a note on the age of her son. So we will see.

Its to important for our grants.

But I was so happy. I just hope my supervisor is.

They both plan to come to the one on November 20th. Which is good
for me. Its another workshop.

Dmom3005 11-08-2012 11:05 AM

Okay Tomorrow,

Is my next big day.

I set up a Parent panel for lack of a better name.

At Purdue for a Class, of 8 students.
I'd love for these classes to start being larger one day.
But 8 is better than none.

I have 3 parents coming to tell what its like raising children with
special needs. I picked 3 that have very different disabilities in their
homes, but I'm guessing they have lots of the same issues.

Except one of the families is a set of grandparents that have 3 grandchildren
they are raising that are very different all the way.

And then I will give a very small speech on In*SOURCE I will need to be
very brief very little time. And I will be rushing 2 case conference's one
before and one after.

Donna:grouphug:

Dmom3005 11-11-2012 10:53 AM

:grouphug:Wow, loved the parent panel. My families all did great.

I was for a while thinking I was going to have to rein in two different
of my parents. But that was only because of a loaded question asked.

But they handled it well.

I even got in some words myself. Other than what IN*SOURCE is
about.

My two case conference's one went pretty much how I thought it might.
But not the way the mother was hoping. So we will see. they are
moving slower than she wants to put the student back to school.

But its a slow procedure sometimes.

THe other one at times I had to play referee just like the principal. Between
the bio mother as she calls herself and the father. And the steps.

But the school needs to get a better grip on who has custody is part of
it.

Donna:grouphug::hug:

bizi 11-11-2012 11:12 AM

sounds like you did well!
great going!
bizi:)

Dmom3005 11-11-2012 01:47 PM

Oh my gosh.

I wasnt' trying to get one.

But i just got a friend of a parent I've been working with,
Who asked me to work with this parent. And has stayed
involved to write me a letter to my supervisor.

She also knows lots of things about what goes on in our
town. She has been part of the disability community here
for a while. So it should be interesting.

Wow, I have a review coming up on Nov. 27th.

I usually get nervous but I haven't been this year.

I have been doing so good. Its just a normal day.
