noise, noise, NOISE
 

I'm not having a good day.

My neighbours have gone away and left their radio blasting which kept me awake literally all night. I managed to get a couple of hours this afternoon with earplugs and white noise in my ears but feel awful.

It's still going, horrible sports radio or something, had to track down their landlord who's coming later to switch it off. Meanwhile there's some sort of social disco rave thing going on across the road and I feel like my head is about to explode. It's like 3D noise, disorientating 5.1 surround sound.

My labdlady's home and has opened all the windows so I'm freezing cold, she's banging about in the other room and every time a car goes by or a group of people making noise I feel like I'm going to throw up.

I feel so unwell I wish I'd just pass out.

On the plus side, I got an appointment with a new neuro today which I wasn't expecting until February.

That would be a miracle indeed. ;)

The landlord has come and switched off their TV for me. I feel like about a KG has lifted off my skull.

Horrible weekly rave thing will be over soon and it's about 1 hour before landlady's bedtime. Will be the first quiet I've had in about 36 hours.

Why don't you have emergency medicines in situations like this? You take all your supplements etc., but some times these medicines can help. I know that feeling of throwing up with noise which I get on certain places. Tricky thing is to find out what works. It took me few years to find out :) Though these meds are not perfect it can minimize the suffering and avoid a trip to ER.

Not that I am fan of meds but some times there is no choice.

What emergency medicines? I have paracetamol but that's it. I took the paracetamol but it didn't really help.

Just paracetamol? That won't do anything for your symptoms. You have to ask your doctor something to calm your nerves and brain. For me Xanax works well to tolerate noise, nausea and light sensitivity and relaxes my brain.

For nausea I take Zofran. All these meds are only need only basis and especially Xanax since it is addictive. Other option is to remove from that environment which some times not possible.

Rx Cyclobenzaprine (brand names: Amrix, Fexmid, Flexeril) was something my primary care physician rx'd for me for longterm usage, as needed, to help with aches, pains, relaxing (tho' it is not anxiolytic in action) and she said it would help me relax, to sleep. It worked well for me and I used it for 3 years, and neurologists concurred.

I mention it only because it's rx'd readily enough by the ERs, PCPs, neurologists, etc. (Would sure like to be able to get a rx for alprazolam, yes, or even rx klonipin (sp?) again, but drs here are making us all tuff-it-out nowadays it seems. Arrrghhh.)

Rx Lunesta for sleep is working for me this year, though it will 'buy me' at most 6 hours of sleep. That's a good night for me most nights in 2012.

I remember I tried Flexeril too. Made me little tired but didn't have any side effects. But didn't work for the dizziness and noise sensitivity though. Yes Flexeril is a very old medicine and many get prescribed.

I even have some trial dosage of Skelaxin which seems to have less side effects but I never tried. I got sick and tired of all these trials :)

I know what you say about Xanax, Klonopin. Getting Rx for Xanax is not easy anymore because of its reputation. Most of them prescribed only for 1 month with no refill. Luckily my Neurologist last prescribed for 3 months. In spite of all this it is #1 prescribed drug in U.S. now :)

I don't take any sleep aids and I take during the day and when I have to go do something or my symptoms gets intolerable I take a bit more.

So andromeda these are few choices you can think about.
