My last journey ..
Well, went for my pre op yesterday. Gosh we are so lucky in the UK to nave the National Health Service.
The Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield is wonderful. The staff go arOund smiling and singing and yes, there are the miserable few, but they are in the few. Pre op went well. Pencilled in for 19th November but not got a letter yet, I suppose they are waiting for the pre op results and especially the blood tests, to check whether any infection remains. I'm slightly more nervous as my surgeon worries about all the scar tissue and healing / infection on the paddle side, but I'll be taking it VERY easy this time. No trip on wee Arthur a few days after the op. I will give myself plenty of time for the incision sites to heal. Have asked to be put on the morning list too, Fingers crossed that this time we will be THE time. |
Best wishes
Not sure what your surgery is you are going for but my thoughts are with you. Yes the old NHS we grumble about is literally a life saver for many.

Thank you my dear friends. I'm nervous a bit about this one as there is so much scar tissue in my back, having had it opened five times now .. Will it heal slower ?
|
Healing IS
Healing just IS. Your body already has shown you how you will heal and over what period of time. If some of the procedure is the removal of scar tissue, you will find pain associated with it; however, as one who also creates scar tissue at break neck speed [you know? In view of my recent cervical fusion, that saying takes on a new meaning.] I personally know removal of scar tissue doesn't produce much in the way of discomfort discernible from the surgical intervention itself.

Keep the Faith!
Hello dear Karen!
Just wanted to add my prayers as well for this upcoming procedure. We will all unite our Faith and keep it strong for this to be the final surgery you will need, and that your new unit will become your new best friend! I believe this for you! Rae :grouphug: |
Thank you, one and all. I am so excited.
I know that this time I will have to be careful after the op .. I was far too impatient to not bed, twist, reach and was out on the mobility scooter within a week of getting home and I think this rubbed the scar area on my back which led to infection getting in ... Although the surgeon says it was on the metal of the leads around my side so.. Who knows. I'll be lazy and read lots this time ... |
Remember BLAST and Logroll
Those simple "rules of the road" to recovery will help you immeasurably.
Along with our prayers, that is, Mark56:hug::grouphug: |
I like your prayers .. And I will always remember the man I met on holiday whilst I was lounging I'm the sea. We got chatting and he asked about my scars .. When I explained I was having another operation this year he asked my name and then said he was a vicar and could he please pray for me. I cried a bit, but said yes ... Please.

Glad to know you didn't fall outta cyberspace :D I missed seeing you around, my friend! Rae  |
You're all so lovely .. I really should get on here more but .. Here's so,e exciting news. I take photographs and although i say so myself, they look pretty good. So I print the photo off and make them into cards. I've been doing this for friends and d
Family .. Birthdays and what not, for a year. Everyone kept saying you could self them ... So, last week I went to the local park and to their little cafe and they ordered 40. I sold them for £1 each and they are selling them at £2 AND they are selling at that. Not fussed at a lot of profit so long as my basic costs are covered. Now they've asked for more for next week, and a local pub with fantastic views has asked me to do some cards .. So that's me busy .. I can only do one or two at a time because of the pain, but it's something to do. Still waiting on letter re operation even though its four weeks this Thursday since my pre op. my hopes are failing .. But never mind. |
What a Wonderful Surprise!
Well Saffy, that is such GOOD NEWS! An artist you are as a photographic artist, and compensated to boot. You brought a smile to my face and a quivver to my heart, realizing you have been asked to share even more.
Imagine possibilities as with next surgery you may be receiving the much needed help managing pain..... you may be gaining the freedom from pain to even do the photography and cards a bit more frequently. Many a business of an artist has begun with a frst tentative step, followed by another, and another..... May your journey on this path be most positive! Praying you will also have soon the news of surgery scheduling. ASAP, a la Ginnie, Prayin for ya, Mark56:hug::) |
Saffy
To start, you are always in my prayers and I hope this next surgery brings you the relief you are praying for. How exciting to start a photo card business. You must have quite an eye for the beautiful things in your neighborhood. It's great to have something to do to try and take your mind off the pain. Maybe one day when you are feeling better you could share some with us. Love Sandy Kay |

These are just the tip of the iceberg .. but I am going to take photo's of all cards I do from now on. All are going to be individual in that they are either given a little water colour lift, or are on patterned paper. More news ... I have my letter confirming that I am due to be operated on on the 19th November. Have to be there are 10.30 for the afternoon list which starts at 1.30. Now the last time this happened, my operation was cancelled so please, send your positivity that this will not happen again. God Bless . xx |
Great job Saffy. I love the snow scene since we don't get snow here. The colors in the fall picture are so rich.
Will be praying for you on the 19th and saying a prayer of thanks on Thanksgiving Day on Thursday. Sandy |

|
Oh for goodness sake Karen thats awful:eek:
Why did they cancel? isnt it just typical....so now when do you have a reschedule for the operation? Im sure you must be so annoyed I know I would be Jackie :) |
It was unfortunate but the surgeon before mine over ran again and mine didnt have time to be done. Five hours sat in my paper knickers .. Tut. Lol
Hopefully 11th December |

Morning Karen
I expect the morning is much different than planned. I pray that your dissapointment has eased and your finding peace with it all. I just wanted to pass along a bit of my experience with big dissapointments in my life...so many of them turned out to be the best thing for me. so much so that I now intend for "my highest option" as opposed to what is "scheduled" or wanted....God is pretty good at thinking up better things for me than I can...I do not want to limit Him. I will pray that your pain is managable and that you have laughter in you day. Johanna* |
