Exciting posibilities
It looks like my surgery will involve two partial laminechtomies. That will mean I will most likely be kept overnite but also meet the criteria for going into the rehab hospital here in this city. The stay would be brief but it would take the responsibility of the post op care off of my younger daughter. She means well but can barely look at a fresh incission, let alone do wound care. Pain Man is chief of staff at this facility so I always get the VIP treatment. He would be able to run daily labs and catch the infections that I usually experience post op as they are starting. Not only that, it will be much easier to get continuing limitted nursing care when I get home. The old reliable catheter UTI often doesn't manifest until two weeks post op. Because of the chronic candida, I stay in a flare until I have been off the anti bs for a week. It would be such a blessing to have a nurse come in three days a week to monitor the incission, thrush or anything else that might crop up. I have my primary doc prepared to take any calls from my nurse and network on those kind of things.
I really needed some good news, even if there is no garuntee at this point. The last two weeks have been rough with one neighbor having a second son murdered and then my next door neighbor passing on Wednesday. Praying for safety for those in the path of this incoming storm. Even those who are inland, it would be wise to make certain you have a good supply of your meds. Hugz all around. :grouphug: |
Now that is GOOD news
So happy there will be good aftercare for you Spiney! That was a big concern here!

Hi Jackie
It is so important for us to try to identify potential problems when in the pre-op mode and start strategizing early. If you wait until the day before discharge, assuming you are inpatient, to ask to talk with a patient advocate, you are sunk.
Before I got a computer and on the internet, I had already had several spinal surgeries but knew nothing about Home Health or rehab. I was told by the surgeons that I didn't need any extra bells and whistles because I was relatively young and tough. I took it as a backhanded compliment. I lived alone and had no help. For several weeks, I couldn't sleep in my bed because I couldn't change the sheets. I just threw a quilt on the sofa to lay on and used another to cover with. Never again. Have a great weekend. |
So happy to hear you are getting the great treatment!
You are well-prepared and your wisdom leads you. I admire your strength and boldness. FEAR NOT I say! Amen! Rae :grouphug: |

Thus
We do pray Spiney. Open those doors to proper care, close the shutters on care not worth the investment of personhood, recovery, the dollars it takes to make things happen.
Prayin, Mark56:grouphug::hug:zzzz |
While remaining diligent in my conversations with Him, I have renewed confidense in the end experience. I ask for peace and wisdom. I got a call from Pain Man's office today and they said the surgeon now has all of my info. I am to expect a call shortly from that office. He likes to look everything over before setting up an appointment on the off chance that he sees something that is a red flag for him. Continued prayers appreciated. Thanks for being there.

wonderful news.
i am forgoing caps for a few days as i had a bit of a fall yesterday and sprained my dominant wrist and thumb. that's not the good news. :D my landlady just came up and said a social worker buddy of hers just was by and was given a discretionary check for rent assistance. i get $150 deducted off my rent this next month. He always shows up just in time. while not surprised, i am truely amazed. blessingz and hugz to all. ;)

So sorry about your fall--hope your wrist and thumb heal quickly. So glad to hear your great news regarding the rent deduction!! Yes, our Lord does indeed always show up in time! I'll continue to pray for you through this upcoming surgery and beyond. (I sounded kinda like Buzz Lighyear there for a moment!) Sending hugs and prayers your way, Jan :grouphug::hug: |
