Burning now everywhere???
You would think after 12 years I wouldn't have any more questions -- but lately my small fiber PN burning pain is also in my inner thighs and inner upper arms as well as the feet and hands. I am in a flare right now and have had a lot of stress lately, and it seems like the last couple of years when it is really bad it is so bad in these new places. I have been through days when I can't wear shoes, or use bed sheets -- and have gotten used to wearing very very soft baggy clothes for comfort. Anyone else dealing with burning pain in these areas?
Oh, I am diagnosed with glucose intolerance and I am taking Lyrica as well as Oxy for the pain. As well as taking handfuls of vitamins and getting B12 shots weekly. (even though my B12 is fine) I eat very little glutton and sugar - except when I am so very down that I can't seem to control myself :) what can I say - you understand. Anyone dealing with pain in other places as time goes on? :grouphug: |

Stress has a way of making everything worse. :(
Have you tried Benfotiamine? It has been a miracle for my burning, even in flare ups I just take more of it and it is amazing for me, though I know not everyone is the same. goodluck |

I noticed a huge difference in the first 24 hours of taking it. But I kept telling myself surely I am exagerating, it cant really be helping that fast. But every single day got better and better.
Since starting it, my burning is "controlled" with benfotiamine. Meaning, I started on 1 pill 4 times a day, mine were 80mg but they come in 150 i think but my local store only had the 80mg. Anyway that controlled it for a month, but now I take 2 of the 80mg pills 4 times a day. If I am having a flare up, which for me usually happens after exercising or having to walk alot, then I will take an extra dose at onset of flareup. It has been a true miracle for me and I pray to God, literally, that it continues to always work and not ever stop working. p.s. I only use Dr's Best name brand. |

Try eliminating all nightshade veggies from your diet. Tomatoes and esp tomato sauces Potatoes Eggplant chillis and peppers Some people are very intolerant of these and get burning from them. Spices like curry, cumin, hot sauces, jalopenos etc All the fun stuff. :o:rolleyes: |

I just listed them. It is a vegetable family with intolerances for many people. Solanine in particular in potatoes and some of the others, is thought to be cumulative.
You can Google Solanine as well. You can Google "nightshade intolerance" and also search here for it. I've posted many times about them.;) |

Mrs.D is right--eliminating the night shades will reduce the burning to almost nothing. My husband still wants a potato with almost everything we have for dinner, but I've even gotten used to watching him eat it without resentment!

Hmmm, I'm almost tempted to try to eat a potato again. And then, if that doesn't cause burning, maybe some Mexican food. That may be pushing it too much!

VERY interesting article. I stopped eating the nightshades soon after you first talked about them causing the burning as I was eager to find relief. So I guess it's been 6 months to a year since I've been abstaining. It was very difficult at first because we always had potatoes with our evening meal--now I just microwave a potato for my husband and grin and bear it while he eats it. We did have Mexican probably once a week before I quit, and New England Clam Chowder was always one of my favorites (chucked full of potatoes).
Interestingly, when I was a kid growing up, both my parents smoked, and it always made me sneeze when they lit their cigarettes. |

Sometimes when you have food allergies, an H2 receptor blocker may help.
Zantac, Pepcid, Tagamet. Tagamet, has warnings of many drug interactions but is the most potent. If you don't take many RX drugs, you may find it works best. 150mg-300mg of Zantac. 40mg Pepcid and 400-600mg Tagamet may help with food reaction/allergies. Take at least 1 hr before the offending food, to get it going. I also find AlkaSeltzer original, also helps. The bicarb blocks the histamine receptor for a few hours. I eat selected things at Baja Fresh. There is very little spice in some of them, and 2 times a month, I seem to tolerate them well. They keep the hot condiments in a free "salad bar" type thing for people to increase the "heat" as they want. I had shrimp quesedillas, and there Tostada with shrimp with no reactions. I find many things on their menu very fresh, and non reactive for me. |
