What are you doing this weekend?

Hello,

How are you and what are your plans this weekend?
Any news?

-->Today was the first day of my vegetarian gluten free diet.
I feel better without the gluten.

-->I see a whole lot of housecleaning having to happen this weekend.

M

bizi 11-02-2012 09:57 PM

Good luck with your diet, I hope you feel better following it.
I have a house here that needs cleaning
desperately when you are finished.
just got back from a light opera....put on by the university department.
tomorrow is a local theater putting on Dracula!
I made a beef stew that was in the crock pot all day, turnip greens and carrots and celery and onions, cream of mushroom soup and a packet of onion soup mix. jeff liked it. halloween decorations jeff is working on them now and will take all weekend to put up and away in the attic again. It is a lot of work.
I see paper work in my future as well as some laundry.
nice sunny weekend I think.
thinking of the east coast and am sending good thoughts for a speedy return to normalcy.

It's good this morning to hear of ya'll in this NT 'neighborhood' !

Bizi,I too cooked a crockpot for the weekend --- 15-bean soup --- and fresh greens from the garden to prepare & cook in the crockpot today. I do enjoy all the hardy 'winter greens' --- they just take so l-o-n-g time to 'stem' & shred. Hopefully I'll enjoy sitting outside to do it a little bunch at a time. It's a lovely day outdoors.

I am also petsitting this weekend for friends, two little maltese-mix guys who are best buddies. Yesterday we enjoyed walking the old baywalk, shaded by giant hundred-years old live oaks with spanish moss hanging, magnolia, and my favorite, white ginger lilies are still fragrant with blooms.

To ease myself into tonight's time change, I've already set my clocks back yesterday! --- ;) So the lil guys & I have taken a cup of tea back to bed, to check in here on ya'll this morning.

Theta ;)

bizi 11-03-2012 11:14 AM

theta, your white ginger lillies are still blooming? wow! we don't have anything blooming right now. camilias will come in the winter....high today will be 85.
sorry for the sleet abbie!
we go from turning on our heater at night to turning on the air during the day....crazy fall weather.

ginnie 11-03-2012 03:16 PM

weekend, OH MY.....

Well, it isn't fun. I have termites, and have to have the house tented. All food has to be wrapped up, anything that you consume, or put into your body. This is a royal pain in the ****. I don't have a choice if I want to keep my attic! Anyone had to do this before? Thats what I get for living in Florida. ginnie:(

Mari 11-03-2012 03:50 PM

Hi, Ginnie,

Yes. I had to pack up stuff and move out for two or three nice when I was renting a room in a house. I remember putting lots of things in garbage bags, leaving somethings in the fridge (because it is air tight) and carrying important things with me like meds and toiletries that I felt were important.
I probably took all my meds with me -- not just the ones I needed for the overnights.

M

ginnie 11-03-2012 03:58 PM

Hi mari

Yep. toothpaste, vitamines, cat, food and sanity, all packed up, getting ready. Bob Dawson had a good post about a caregivers group. She did the prayer. It did a lot to restore my sense of humor. I needed the laugh today. Scheduled for next week. This one is a 4 day trip away from the house. I also have massive plantings in the yard, and a deck, which has to be cleared. Deck too has to be covered. We didn't swarm in the house, it was up in the attic, and a real surprise. Went up there for something, and was met with one heck of a flying zoo. Keep in touch Mari, thanks for response. I just didn't need another trouble on the plate. You know what that is like....take care of yourself, and let me know how you are doing. ginnie:hug:

bizi, yes, still blooming though less than 'prime' since the coldfront moved in last Saturday & kept temps chilly/windy a few days. Same here as there now with crazy mid-80s days in November!. :( I do love the winters DownHere.

abbie & all up there in the NE, hope that ya'll are staying comfy.

Mari 11-03-2012 04:01 PM

Hi, Theta,

Thanks for mentioning the clocks. I would have completely missed that until Sunday afternoon or later.

I posted a new thread.

I have been to Indy today to do the school for the blinds Transition Fair.

Wow, what a interesting group of kids, not many but just enough.

They had great questions. And I had the right answers.

So we did great.

I took a little nap and my are feels much better!!!

I am now craving PayDay candy bars!!!! NO, I am not pregnant.

I am wondering when my parents will be coming home....they left on 10/11/12 somewhere around 8am. They told me they would see me in a month or so..... Sure has been quiet around here!!! I've talked to & seen my oldest niece, and texted with my little sister. But other than that I've been alone. Alone hurts sometimes!!!

Take care everyone cause sometimes you are all I have!!
I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!
Abbie

Theta Z 11-03-2012 09:59 PM

abbie, yay! for nap, for you, and for feeling better. I got a little naptime in also. Hope that you are feeling comfy tonight.

bizi 11-03-2012 10:24 PM

dear ginnie, sorry about the termites glad that you found them and not some inspector if you had a buyer interested.
Sorry that you have been alone for so long dear abbie, we love you too!
glad for the reminder about the time change hubby likes this one hates the spring forward!
saw a play tonight, dracula...it was good.
almost all of the halloween decorations have been put a way....except for the big coffin against the front door and a hanging bat with red glowing eyes. Jeff worked hard to put things up.
I went with a friend out of town to see some shops. One of the places was a fused glass artist that I love her work so I bought a small wind chime that I placed over the kitchen window so I can see it everyday. Love it!

Barometric pressure began dropping overnight, warm morning fog ahead of hopefully some rain ---> so I feel the body aches & pains moreso today.
Oh my. This too shall pass.

Went to dinner with hubby. Wow, can't exacty say how long its been since
we have done that. But it was fun. Didn't think it was going to happen
this weekend.

Even though he wanted to yesterday, but I was too tired. So he went
with our oldest son and his girlfriend and their son. They go to chinese.
And I don't like it.

Today my neck was giving me aheadache, and my back was really bad.

But he had been rubbing my back earlier and it was better. So when
I had him rub my neck and shoulders it was lots better.

So I got ready and we went.

It was lots of fun.

He just had minor surgery so we had a quiet visit. TV, cards and many horrible frozen dinners that he readied for us in advance. Mostly pasta. I couldn't even order in because he's so pleased with himself. For the rest of my life I will smile when I see overcooked macaroni. I took a week off work. Excellent way to get my priorities straight.

bizi 11-05-2012 01:00 AM

thanks for sharing.

Dmom3005 11-05-2012 09:25 AM

Ms Manic

That is the way nice daughters are. But maybe you can ask him if
you could treat the both of you just one night. To show your appreciation
for his thinking ahead. And for the way you love him.

Just thinking of a way to give a little of what he has given you back.

Donna:grouphug::hug:

Ms manic 11-06-2012 10:34 AM

No I mean it. He really is pleased with himself and his fav food is soggy macaroni. I convinced him awhile ago that he should have veggies so now he throws a handful of frozen corn in before he closes the individual portion macaroni. He also buys bulk hamburger, cooks patties (extra long in the oven, he says, because burgers are tricky), and baggies them. Great accompaniment to soggy macaroni and can alternately be used as hockey pucks. He can afford to eat better but he has his fav down to a science so why mess with perfection. I gained 3 pounds. Sigh.

PS I'm very, very grateful that he's around to mess with my carbs. May I be such an individual at his age.

Watching My Daughter In A Play, Going Vegan

Tonight was the opening night for my daughter's high school play, The Wizard Of Oz. She will be performing the next three nights as well. She is playing the part of the monkey who tears up Scarecrow. I'll be watching her on the second night. I am so psyched!

This weekend I am going back to being a vegan. I had gained so much weight with past meds that I weighed 273 pounds. When I went vegan I lost 73 pounds. I thought I could go vegetarian now because I was concerned about the muscle tone I had lost despite protein supplents. I gained back 2 pounds this month. I'm going back to being a vegan again.

bizi 11-10-2012 11:10 AM

welcome to the bipolar forums! congratulations on your weight loss. I believe in doing what ever works as long as it is healthy and not harmful. I could never eat vegan but good for you and self control. How was the play?
have a great weekend.

Theta Z 11-10-2012 12:14 PM

Good morning bizi, mari, steve, et al -

Congrats to you, bizi, on your weight loss and keeping up with your self-support program. You inspired me awhile back to get moving again --- and I have been walking lil doggies down on the baywalk, but I haven't experienced yet any weight loss. Oh well, perhaps in time it will yet show up this Winter.

I'm having to forego wearing my fave corduroy jeans, alas they are too tight, uncomfortable.

I'm today cooking a crockpot of butter beans, also winter greens, and salmon patties to share with a couple of women friends who are also on their own solo. It's warmed up here today, 73 degrees.

Hope that ya'all are enjoying a good Saturday there.

Best regards,
Theta

Hi, Theta,

That sounds good --- butter beans, winter greens, and salmon patties.

We have weather here that is similar to yours. It is nice out.

Hi, Ms. Manic,

Pants. . . I remember I used to wear skirts. I didn't notice changes that way.

Today the cleaning lady is here and hubby is not back from whatever he was doing.

She and I had a baked sweet potato each and I had a glass of wine from a bottle that had to be finished. She and I are cooking black eyed peas in the crock pot and tin foil covered winter squash in the oven. The tin foil is her idea. We'll see how it comes out.

We expect Hubby to come home to cook the rest of the supper meal.

M

Theta Z 11-10-2012 04:01 PM

Mmm ... sounds delicious, mari!
Enjoy!
