------------------------------------------

i am not doing so good. same ol' same ol' ... bad spiral.

virus - got over it but had to put off labs AGAIN esp with the use of echinacea which can change med levels. i had a migraine almost every day during that virus and still going. at one point i took triptans nearly every day for like 3 days, then quit coz of lucid dreaming, despite lowering my zoloft. i'm now taking a break unless i get a doozy. last few days have been mild paroxysmal ones. today got a moderate one i had to ice and sleep through.

i think the deal is the virus delayed my cycle. i ran out of magnesium which is what i'm supposed to use at this time, and was too embarrassed to ask folks to get more - i used it the last batch up fast with the omeprazole. :o

ok so getting better from this virus, on 2 nights straight i ate things that irritated my stomach again (hearburn), worsening my cough yet preventing me from using my more effective cough soothers, suspend my echinacea prematurely and boom, monday had a temp again... it went thank goodness.

Mom wants me to go to the doctor because my "cavernous-like" cough is now showing up. i have some albuterol (bronchodilator) drops for my nebulizer but i could ask for some beclomethasone (steroid) at this point. he is not very good at examining - and he never does. i still might ask, even though i feel like my chest is clear now unlike before.

the important thing hanging over me is those labs. since like september. in october the Neuro finally added his bit - a safety check for interaction between topamax and depakote. well he wrote the script probably wrong and i could get in trouble so i'll have to take it to my gp who always gets mad when he sees stuff this neuro writes. :o

==================================================

anyway if it's not one thing it's another or another or another. Things keep hitting from left field.

:( it's embarrassing hanging around like an invalid in the living room all the time. :(

Thanks for asking after me and for caring. Thanks for listening. :o :hug::hug: :grouphug:

Dear Waves,
Thank you for posting.....I am sorry to hear about your migranes....I can't imagine how frustrating that must be and painful no less. I wish they were better controlled.
I misunderstood. You only take the magnesium during certain times of the month? I take 400mg everyday for bone support, along with calcium and vit d3. I hope that your cough issues go away soon and that your overall physical health improves asap!

sorry about the spiral

Dear Waves,

It is wonderful to hear from you.

Yeah, I understand. I have used that same language before --- embarrassing to be in this kind of situation you describe.

I have found that keeping track of / taking care of medical buisiness can be time consuming. If one were getting paid to do it, one might be rich.
Alternatively, thinking about all these things and not getting them done, is also time consuming some how. Either way, the whole thing is distracting and / or consuming.

'Good that you are over your virus. I hope your cough goes away.

Let's change the inning. You can bat, get a hit, and land on base to get into scoring position.

(Sorry. I am a little bit-fugue-y --sent an email to the wrong person -- I was writing about her but sent it to her instead -- that stinks --- got to be more careful --- maybe not send emails at all.)

Lots and lots of hugs. :grouphug:  :heartthrob:

Waves

I am so sorry you are having so much trouble.

I too take magnesium for bone problems all the time. That is when
I can find the coated stuff. I'm having a problem right now finding
it. But have to make myself get to the mall and get some.

I can't swallow the other. It just sticks in my mouth and then I gag
it down. And then I can't stop throwing up for a while.
Sorry no one needed to hear that.

Sending thoughts to you.

Donna,

http://www.amazon.com/Ancient-Minera.../dp/B001AD0HL8
You can buy Magnesium oil that you SRPAY on. It gets absorbed through the skin.

Dmom3005 11-20-2012 10:55 AM

Wow I've never heard of the magnesium you can spray on the skin.

I will have to look into that one.

I drink this stuff at night before I go to bed. Orange Calm. It is a powder that you dissolve in 6 or 8 oz. of cool water. It fizzes. It is powdered magnesium. I go this route because I too don't enjoy swallowing pills either.

There are 325mg. magnesium in 2 rounded teaspoons.
Ingredients: ionic magnesium citrate, organic orange flavor and organic stevia

http://www.amazon.com/Natural-Vitali...ds=calm+orange

There are other flavors available but the orange is my favorite. I take it at night and also take my liquid melatonin by Natrol then (which I also get on amazon for around $6 a bottle).

i'm hoping it was just the virus that threw things off and not having my Mg when i needed it. or i may need a higher dose of Topamax but i'll need to get those labs first.

i do not take calcium supplements since with high vit D supplementation diet is not recommended if diet is decent. I would think that is your case too with all the vegs you eat. The risk is hypercalcemia -- now i do recall you had osteomalacia onset or something so you have special needs? I just hope if your doc has ordered Ca&Mg&D supplmentation that she monitors your blood Ca++ frequently to ensure safe levels and re-evaluate need for continued Ca bone repletion via supplementation route. if not i sure would request that testing. it concerns me Bizi. :heartthrob:

I misunderstood. You only take the magnesium during certain times of the month?
In general, i only take magnesium when i don't get enough in my diet (it's pretty easy for me to tell). I have another type of magnesium for migraine prophylaxis of hormonal migraines. That, I do usually take a in a small amount certain days in the month, based on my cycle - if i have not had enough in my diet, i use a higher dose of it.
The two kinds I have are:
  • Mg citrate (Natural Calm) for general purpose.
  • Mg pidolate (Mag2) - additional prophylactic for hormonal migraines (highly absorbable, fast-acting).
it has helped a little but not much. it does not seem to be the prevailing factor in those migraines.

Now when i had my stomach upset/reflux, i was not eating much, plus add the omeprazole ... well! so i did need some Mg but i did not dare use Natural Calm (too acidic). So, i used my Mg pidolate vials.... two at a time. so that's why i used it up so fast and was embarrased to ask for more so quick. i am still not eating properly so i still need the supplementation at times. still afraid to try the Calm.

gosh that was a laborious explanation. i hope you are not as confused as i am. please don't ask me to clarify. i think my brain will put itself into a pretzel if i tried!

:o:rolleyes:

Boy you can say that again. It is so weirisome to get those headaches. even when they are mild. And those are the times i say i am lucky, but after 10 days of pinging to ponging to pounding, plus the other stupid stuff it makes me so angry. which does not help, because it puts me in fight mode and that is the wrong way to be.

i've found that if i try to relax and meditate and accept the pain, process it, hear it, talk to it, i can even start to channel it. but furstration and agitation make me my mind goes flying until the pain brings me back... in a very tense state no less... the opposite of what would work.

i am only just learning these techniques. it is frustrating when i try to apply them, and cannot stay focused long enough to remind myself to bring my mind back to focus. and part of the reason for the lack of focus is that i've been hurting for so long i'm sick of it. perhaps this is a new challenge in its own right.

well i did get to the doc, and got my lab paper work straight, and some scripts for the nebulizer (pharmacy was closed).

good news: no migraine today! :)

thanks so much for your support :heartthrob:

((((Hugs and Love)))) to you too...:hug::hug: and again, many many Thanks. :)

ok glad you are getting the level checked. that's what is important. perhaps taking the Mg with it is keeping it in check. :)

FYI:
dairy is not the best source of ca/mg so it doesn't matter as that goes.

the best sources are vegetables.... broccoli if i recall is the best, also kale. spinach is an excellent source of mag... peanuts... blackbeans... anything that is deep rich green is a good mag source because mag is a constituent of chlorophyll.

i know broccoli and cauliflower and other cabbage types are good sources of calcium again there are others sorry if can't think off the top of my head now.

but these are more absorbable than those from dairy, even if those in dairy are "balanced." they are still making a fuss about drinkin milk for strong bones and teeth but.... if people would just eat their vegetables it would do them better. oh also various nuts and seeds.

waves. you should do a web search.

Brokenfriend 11-20-2012 08:19 PM

Hi Waves. I'm so glad that you did not have one of those migraine headaches today.

I know that you are relieved, and I know that when you have them it's a hard, and difficult thing to keep going through.

One day at a time. (((Gentle hugs, and Love))) BF:hug::hug::hug:
