News about the Decorah Eagles

Many of us watched this eagle pair via webcam last year, and some have been watching them for years. Three years for me. They might not be on display this season - they are building a new nest! Cameras cannot be moved till after next year's brood fledge. :(

.

Here's an alternative eagle pair in Davenport IA:

Seems it is still undetermined which nest they will use. I'm guessing the new one. I've yet to catch sight of a bird in the old nest, and they should have put soft nesting material in it by now. Comparing the old Decorah nest to the Davenport/Alcoa nest (link above), the old nest looks abandoned.

Maybe next year! Until then the Davenport cam is good to watch. There's a tiny square button below the screen that makes the view full screen.

And I'm sorry to report that 2 of last year's babies have been electrocuted:

It's official

The eagles chose their new nest, so no camera this year.

But we have one darling baby here and another on the way...

I hope the winds dies down soon.

This looks like a very organized and experienced mated pair of eagles!
Two large fish stashed to the side!

I can't imagine how cold it is there! I love it when the chicks are so small...so miraculous these lives!

l do too Mrs d and these are so healthy looking with beautiful feathers. Now there are two babies.

good grief....is that a rabbit for dessert???

Sparky10 03-19-2013 03:58 PM

I was thinking side dish...

MrsD, I live less than 2 hours from this nest; it was 13F last night and is currently 28F. We're expecting a slight warm-up to the low 40's later this week.

the wind seems to have died down this morning and just watched the chicks being feed. So incredible!

Alffe 03-29-2013 01:59 PM

They are really growing fast...obviously well cared for. :)

Mom is shielding them from the sun right now, and she is panting and yawning. (rather like Phoebe does with her nestlings).

The photos are really nice...very good camera work.

Well, the detail on this cam is amazing! You can see them BREATHE! I watched both move from the sun, to the shade
on the other side of the nest. Very interesting.

Wish my internet connection was that good. It blurs a bit on full screen. I can see the babies, though!
