Jeff's hip

Just an update....
Called the insurance company, they approved all of the hospital stay...we had gotten a denial for the second day so we were concerned about that.
So that is a relief.
unfortunately the surgery records have not arrived at the potential ortho here so we won't know if he accepts him as a patient which means that he will have to have his staples removed by some one else.
I called his internist to ask if they could remove the staples they have yet to call me back. If they say no then we will have to go to the emergency room to have them removed.
If the ortho here dr. yerger says no that he will not take him as a patient then we will have to pick up the records and take them to another orthos office and start the same process.
This is causing me much stress.
My sister is listening to my tears and giving me good support.
Jeff is at school today doing paperwork. I just talked to him, he sounded good.
I am not done working today so have a couple more people to see then home for the day. Jeff is going to play cards with his friends this evening...so I am happy for him to get out.
He is doing well. I am glad that it is not raining to hard.
bizi

Mari 01-08-2013 04:21 PM

Rain too?

Oh, Bizi,

I am glad that he is doing well.
Maybe let him think through the hospital / dr / staples.
He might be able to handle that kind of stress more than you can.

M

butterfly11 01-08-2013 06:20 PM

This has got to be stressful!!

I saw Dr. Yerger back in May when I displaced some cartilage in my knee. He was helpful & personable and there is an x-ray room right there in his office. Oddly, what I remember most is that the air conditioner in the waiting room is LOUD. It sounds like a jet taking off when the air kicks on. I hope they give you an answer *soon* about accepting him as a patient.

I am glad that your insurance has given its approval. One less thing off the list is a good thing.

Constant drizzle here. My neighbor's yard is already starting to hold some water.

Do you like to play cards? We'll have to have a card night one time when Jeff is out with his cards crew. When your life calms down.

katmae 01-08-2013 07:19 PM

Jeff

Bizi it is nice to hear that at least the insurince is not giving you a hard time, and that he is doing so well,do try to do something for yourself so that you don't get to stessed maybe a girls night would help:hug::hug:

bizi 01-08-2013 09:23 PM

I was amazed, I came home from work and jeff was cooking dinner.
He was rolling around in the computer chair, it was great. He has long arms that reach every thing, the spices etc. we had delicious pork chops and green beans and those little microwavable mac and cheese that I did. It was very good. I went out in the rain to pick up dressing changes and water and margarita mix so I am fixing to have one right now.
thanks for your support!

Mari 01-08-2013 09:51 PM

Bizi,

He did a lot today: took care of paperwork, saw the friend/ boss, and made dinner.

I am happy that you sound o.k. tonight.

bizi 01-08-2013 11:35 PM

thank you waves...I was really upset today when I found out that the urgent care would not see us. I called my sister and she calmed me down.
It doesn't help that it is raining...going to be a lot more of that tomorrow.
both of our drivers liscenses are expired and we need to get a temporary handicap tag for the car. so we have to both go in tomorrow after the nurse takes out his staples..... sigh not fun.
He had fun at the poker game! we are going to watch an ex files episode.

so much going on...

Dear Bizi,

I am glad to hear Jeff is doing so well. Good spirits and being active, to the extent he can, will help him heal. (you know that! ;)) Still incredulous he made dinner! wow! :)http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/im...ons/icon14.gif

OH... and i definitely think that icko rainy stressy day called for Margaritas! I hope you both thoroughly enjoyed them! :)

Here's hoping the ortho gets back to you quick, with a YES! Sux that you are having so many issues on the medical front, first insurance (relieved that is ok), now the ortho and urgent care.

Wonderful to hear that your sister is supporting you. I know that means the world to you.

I wish i could do more... Let me know if there IS something i can do.

Sending soothing vibes for you, heal-up vibes for Jeff.

love & :hug::hug::hug:

p.s. I love X-files! :)

Dmom3005 01-09-2013 09:23 AM

Bizi

Sending you hugs. I'm also upset that the Urgent care wouldn't help
you. It really doesn't make sense.

I hope things start to turn around now.

On a note from this: For everyone else. Just so you know if you ever
have this happen again.

When I was in Washington DC and dislocated my Elbow. The attending
doctor and nurse. Insisted I take the xray and a record of my information
back with me in the Airplane. At the time, I had thought they were
crazy. But now with what has happened with Jeff and Bizi.

I find that there was one more silver lining in that injury. See I had
already known which surgeon. I was going back to care. He was the
one that did surgery on my other one 4 years before. So even when
the nurse on the phone said. We will have to call you back after we
ask him if he will take you on. I was sure he would.

I will never forgot what she said to me when she called back. She said:
Mrs. Roberts, he said, it would be his pleasure to take care of you again.
And he asked me to tell you I am sorry I didn't just tell you that.
I told her I realized it was protecal to tell me the other answer. She told
me she was new to his office. And he informed her. That it wasn't handled
the other way, he never turned down a person, no matter who the original
surgeon was. And she just learned that. Which she was glad to now know.

She would just start making appts. Instead of having to ask first. And she
added, she was so glad the mistake was made on such a understanding patient.

Hubby got his staples removed yesterday, no more shots to self and no more support hose! so he is happy about that! I am very impatient about his not having a new doctor yet. The mail is slow here. The Dr. yerger should have received them by now but he is only in the office on mon and wed. So it will have to be next monday for the review and then hopefully they will call us with an appointment, that is if they take him as a patient.....sigh
bizi
He is doing really well, went to the office twice this week and going for a couple of hours tomorrow. His boss has been taking him and picking him up.
REgular school starts on monday.
Got our handicap hang tag and my drivers license renewed his could not because he is on a walker. so when he is cleared to drive again then he will get his license renewed.

Gosh, Jeff is really being a trooper bless him. If you go online I think you can like in PA renew the licenses. I did the two days before mine expired Dec but am still waiting on the camera card to get my new license. You will need that if you do not have a passport for your cruise too. If mine does not com soon, I am taking he temporary one I printed and tell tell it has been over two weeks and see if hey will issue it.

Step. By step, omg what a terrible pun, make a list and get through each one. Make the long list the short list, gee, if you have the crisper kit can you take out staples, or the PCP?

Hope things calm down soon. Hugs and love,
Di

bizi 01-10-2013 11:24 PM

hi di,
the pcp took out the staples yesterday thank goodness. so we did not have to go to the emergency room.
he is doing very well. thank you for asking.
he is out having a beer with a friend on his walker because it has been raining and the ground is wet. very dangerous for him.
school starts on monday.
6 more weeks of this before he can drive.
thank you for your kind words.

I worked today, saw only 2 patients had a great lunch inbetween of a muffaletta sandwich and got my hair colored and cut....nice but rushed. She did a good job. jeff is now showering and shaving and fixing his hair which takes a while so am hanging out by the computer to help when he needs it. I drank my dinner tonight did not feel hungry.

Use to love getting my hair done, as. Ex cosmetologist hard to justify the cost to color. I had Tim's, but no real hairstyle since he one in my profile photo. I had here inches and few long ayers in a dry cut last Fall. It was touching my waist. Need desperately to color Hugh, so much gray is showing through. About the sme here inches is gray ith few blonde threads.

Hope you have a great night relaxing now,
Di

Dear Bizi

Jeff sounds like he is doing really well, which is good to hear. :)

On the other hand I have to admit you sound really stressed to me. :o I wonder if you haven't really recovered from the shock of him falling to start with. Maybe it is just my impression (and possibly a wrong one)?

I wish i were there to give you a huge hug in person and sit with you and talk. :heartthrob:

I am glad you had a good day and that your hair came out good! :) I don't know what a muffaletta is... if i had to guess... a muffin with an omelette or frittata in it? WRONG! (i just googled it.)
for anyone else with my level of ignorance - probably not many here, since this sandwich has apparently become popular in the US , lol... where i am not... sigh...

Waves,

I did not know about Muffulettas either. They seem rather specific to NOLA.

Where I live we can get Cuban Sandwiches. I seem to remember that they have to be grilled. (have not had one for a while)

Wow bizi, Jeff is one strong man! To endure what he has in such a strong and stoic manner, I really admire his strength! I read every page and was glad to see that he had the staples out. Please update us with more details on if the new ortho accepts him as a patient or not, praying that he will. Thinking of you! :)

bizi 01-13-2013 09:59 PM

thank you pammie, I will call the ortho tomorrow to see if the records have arrived yet....they should have so hopefully he will be seen soon.
thanks for the kind words he is strong.

I was very angry to find out that the records were never sent. But she assured me that she would fax them and she did. She was very apoligetic....I tried to be nice everyone screws up at times. the ortho reviewed them today and made an appointment for wednesday!!!!! exrays and an exam!!!!!
hippie.
Jeff had a set back today.
Not good while using the walker he put down the front part of the walker instead of putting down the back legs first and the walker was unsteady and he jerked and hurt his leg. sigh
he has to slow down....This is twice that he injured himself, first time was on the crutches under the car port on our slippery concrete his crutch slipped out and he beared weight on that leg and he had a big bruise the next day. He had been relatively pain free but today he came home and took 2 pain pills poor guy.
we will see how he is in the morning....he tried to do one of his exercises and could not with out a lot of pain this afternoon, I told him not to do that exercise. He won't put ice on it....sigh
bizi

Mari 01-14-2013 10:04 PM

Bizi,

Hugs.

He needs to have someone to talk to besides you who can tell him what to do.

Icing the pain is part of the healing process. Maybe when the ortho or someone similar tells him that, he might listen to them.

Quote:

This is the kind of thing he would learn in occupational or physical therapy. Has he done some of that?

Also, he might be having a harder time emotionally than he is willing to tell you. Maybe he is starting to get a little impatient with himself.
Can you get someone on the phone Tuesday to talk to him? MD? Nurse? Therapist?

Mari

bizi 01-14-2013 10:34 PM

I think you are right mari, that he might be having a harder time then he is letting on. He said the pain is better tonight then it was this afternoon and I believe him.
