good news

I saw the surgeon today and everything is fine. Now the big challenge is to get strong again and that will take time.

Well THAT is Good News

Go for the Good! Take the Gold! Glad you are shipshape. Now to the stuff of physical therapy to restore strength and endurance. Before long, programs humming, perhaps you will be way out in front of the pack and pain will be managed as all had hoped and prayed for you,
including me,
Yup:hug::grouphug:

Thanks, guys. After all the joy of the good news and a decent meal in a resteraunt, today is miserable. Yesterday was very warm and sunny. It is now slushing outside and my back is in an uproar from the round trip to Louisville. Where's Judy? I need a hot shower now. This, too, shall pass but not fast enough. Y'all have a great weekend.

Spine

Next Time

maybe a hot springs spa...... tends to heat up the sore parts.:)

Spiney95 02-08-2013 04:18 PM

I am settling for guided imagery. Right now I am in the huge therapy pool at the local rehab hospital. The temp is somewhere between 95 and 100 degrees. The spasm and inflammation are melting and draining from my body. I should be able to do some aggressive walking, shortly, then sit in front of the strongest jet before showering. Oh yes!!!!!!

Spine

Mark56 02-08-2013 08:27 PM

may not be a mineral spa......

BUT I have spent countless hours recuperating and building strength in just such a therapy pool....................... delightful, yes indeed.

Blessings on your no longer aching body tonight Spiney!!

Guided Imagery!

I knew that term sounded familiar! My psych worked with me using this technique for my anxiety. Other words.....go to that 'fun, peaceful place' and all will be well.
It worked so-so. It's hard to paint that picture in my mind when I'm in full anxiety mode

Mark56 02-09-2013 02:13 PM

Well

If you are headed south of Glenwood Springs in Colorado, eventually you will pass the town of Redstone on the way to the town of Marble.... along the way, if you did not want to pay a fee to use the public pool at G.S., then you pull off the side of the road noticing the steam rising from the side of the Crystal River..... picturesque.... then if there are people already in attendance, it can be burlesque [bear in mind this is in full view of the public highway alongside] because folks drop into the water sans clothing usually.

Not exactly the picture Spine was going for, but, ifn you were just you and trusted others with appropriate attire, you slip into the free steamy water, steam billowing around you because no matter the time of year the ambient air temp is low compared to the water. Mount Sopris rises to the east, and if you REALLY crane your neck you might catch a glimpse of a peak, maybe two as you soak up warmth and heal the "bones."

Ahhhhh........ for those who take advantage..... Me? I am too shy. I go for the indoor pool with clothes.... swimwear.:):grouphug:

tkayewade 02-09-2013 08:23 PM

That's great!! So glad!! My Leg one is so good I can't imagine life without it. Getting stronger is hard. I still have problems with that!

Mark56 02-09-2013 09:18 PM

TK!

Stronger, stronger, stronger
makes you work much longer, rawhide!
Push 'em out,
tuck 'em in,
hold those weights
make you thin
work so hard, that you feel it, rawhide!

[OK, so slap me........ sing it to the refrain of the Rawhide show from the
60's, a western shown in the US.
I left the word "rawhide" in since in physical therapy I would wind up working until the hide on my legs would be raw from the therabands they would wrap around my ankles to make working that much harder.....

Physical Therapy = Highly Paid Torture, usually worth it.:winky::hug::grouphug::)

I am anxious to see pain man on Thursday and get set up for pt. I don't see how medicare can deny me this time since I am post op. I can't imagine being told that I am not worth the investment after having that expensive implant. In the meantime, I am concentrating on not sitting and walking like a duck footed quasimoto. That's a decent start.

Mark56 02-10-2013 02:53 PM

Yup and SS

Yup! SS does an auto deduct for the Medicare premium. They will have their due. Our child on SSDI is approaching a moment when, under SSDI, he will no longer have a deposit as the premium for Medicare and Supp will consume it all......

Hip Hip Hooray for Govt managed care! Thank you to our Washington princes and princesses...... Oh, pity the thought, there I go maligning the establishment once again.;)

Spiney95 02-10-2013 09:09 PM

We get what the voters are willing to settle for. I don't think it is any to soon to encourage folks to study voting records and vote in the mid term elections.

My evil twin half hopes those bozos deny me pt. There is no way anyone can keep a straight face and say I am a bad investment. It's a new ball game now.

Question????? I have practically slept around the clock since the trip to Louisville on Thursday. I knew it would knock the stuffings out of me but thought I would have more energy by now. I don't feel sick and don't have a fever. Is this unusual six weeks out?

Spine

Mark56 02-11-2013 12:52 AM

We used to spell relief as R O L A I D z

Courtesy of a commercial that is.... NOW your post surgical relief and recovery is spelled R E S T and P L E N T Y O F I T. Stuffing is exactly what was taken away. Your body and you will work to replenish.

In the meantime.... rest!:):hug::grouphug:

I suppose I must accept my circumstances realisticly and accept the doctors' advice and encouragement. They are thrilled with my progress. Gone are the days when I could tolerate a bilevel disc/lam and chase around Walmart three weeks later, using a cart as a walker. Time and surgical abuse have seemed to have caught up with me. Everyone take care and bundle up. Many prayers for those tormented by the dreadful weather. Hugs all around.

Spiney95 02-12-2013 06:31 AM

Oooooops! I turned around and pushed the envelope. I have been dribbling coffee and tea in front of the day bed and it was looking nasty. My aid is not allowed to shampoo the carpet. The kids are only here twice a year and don't have time to do such chores, sooooooo..........just spot cleaned in order to minimize the effort. Boy, I am sore today but am buzzing away. It's easy to say to let things go, but it is so hard to live with a mess. Right now, life is challenging enough without looking at messes and eating too many frozen meals. Bah humbug. Hugs all around.

You are well and buzzing after your envelope escapade. Do take care. Try to stay away from hay bales......:):grouphug:

Spiney95 02-12-2013 07:38 AM

When I was a kid, my family bred, raised and showed american saddle bred horses. I did my share of tossing bales of hay and straw. Until I was in high school, I was stronger than most of the boys from tossing bales and cleaning stalls. That's some strenuous work.
