Question about Remission

Hi All. As some of you may know I am undiagnosed currently. My neuro was thinking MS or CIDP. I am so happy to say that the last few days I have felt amazing. Not 100% by any means. I can't even remember what 100% feels like, but a lot of my weakness and nerve pain has improved as well as my vision and dizziness.

Everything I have read about CIDP is that remission is highly unlikely without some sort of treatment (which I have had none).

This may be a hard question since I don't yet have a diagnosis.

But my question is as far as MS goes when someone is in remission is it a gradual process or would a symptom be there one day and gone the next? I apologize in advance if this is one of those "depends" questions. Any insight is appreciated. Thank you!!!

Sorry you're going through this hunt-for-a-disease process. I'm sorry I can't be much help with your question, I just wanted to comment on CIDP. I'd never seen that before so had to look it up. Wow ~ it is SO similar to MS!

My MS has been around, technically, for about 13 years (2000). But the earliest symptoms might have occurred as early as 1991 or 92. I consider my symptoms to have begun very suddenly in February of 2000, and extremely gradually lessened but have never gone away completely.

But that's me. "Other results may vary"!

I remember when I went into remission, that the
symptoms were still all there, but I didn't notice them
hardly at all. I think it was gradual though, because I
don't remember a sudden halt.

One thing you will learn, as you go along is, that the
way MS effects the individual is different for each person.
Although similar, not exactly the same.

Hang in there and good wishes..:hug:

That's encouraging news! I am glad you have been feeling better.

My symptoms go away gradually after an exacerbation. However, that doesn't mean that all my symptoms go away completely. Some just hang around and never leave.:D But the severity of them lessens.

This is a timely post for me. I too am not diagnosed although I believe the main consensus is that I "just have anxiety." Anywho, I too have felt decent for most of the week. The fatigue hangs around and a few other little things but they haven't been quite as bothersome. However, last night the stiffness came back and this morning my feet are numb and I just feel off. I know this doesn't help with your question but I can say I get where your coming from!

Thanks for all the input!!! I like what I read :) I have to say that yes I still have some dizziness, some numbness, and little bit of blurred vision and concentration problems. I usually have trouble cleaning my house, running errands, etc and these past few days I have been able to do all of those things which is so exciting. I'm taking advantage of this because I don't know how long it will last. I took my son to a bounce place to play and he was so happy! It made me feel wonderful to be able to spend that kind of time with him!

I remember that exact feeling of, "I don't know how long it will last." In my 30 some year relationship w SO, we have said that "we don't know when the rain will come."

In this situation, I would clean, make soup, do mega laundry, go out to live music and come home and make love.;) You need to use some energy for that!

It does sound MS-y to me but I only just read Sparky's link- that does sound similar.

Best to you,
ANN

Thanks. Up until now I have been progressing but it seems to hopefully have stabilized. I think I got ahead of myself thinking it was getting so much better. I may have overdone it these last fews day a little. This is part of the reason my doc thought MS to be less likely since I have bilateral symptoms and progression for more than a year. But now it seems to fit more. This whole situation is so confusing. I get this feeling of guilt that I can't do everything I used to. I feel bad for my husband he is sooo sweet and puts up with so much. He takes care of our son more than I do. He cleans and cooks when I need him to he is so wonderful I feel so lucky for that. I feel bad because I have basically no energy to even watch a movie with him much less to spend quality time;)

Make sure to tell him how lucky you are to have him and how grateful you are to have his help.

A Depends question?:D:eek: Excuse me....I just have a lasting relationship with depends recently:rolleyes::cool:

I was in the middle of an MS attack(like what I calle dit) when I finally went to get checked out. Falling down due to dizziness, dribbling pee, plus the tingling and not making sense when I talked sometimes(mom thought it was a stroke). I called my mom one night and told her something is wrong. We went to the ER and there it all begn:cool:

One day I woke up and I remember thinking "ddaaayyuummmm I feel great!"
Went for a bike ride and everything, been fairly well since then plus doing all the things I have to do in order to keep myself feeling good. So I guess that my symps were there and then not the next day. I don't remember a gradual improvement at all...it was just BANG! feel good after a day of hell. Thankfully those uber feelings haven't returned.... it scares me to think if they will retyrn.

Thanks Eric! Sorry about the depends thing haha...well I can relate to your situation as well. I have had times where I will have symptoms for a few weeks or so and then one day it's just gone! Like verigo or slurred speech, difficulty swallowing. But my legs have been bothering me non stop for over a year. I am happy to say they are less painful and awkward feeling these past few days so I'm not sure what to think of it. I would however consider this gradual improvement.

I am sure there would be lots of people here who would experience this one too - I can go from feeling passably 'normal' to feeling like a complete basket case as a single day progresses. In the morning, I might be a bit slower than my recollection of what 'normal' was (although it has been so long I can't be sure if that is just wishful thinking)....but by the time three or four o'clock comes around, MS fatigue has bitten me and I am not much good for anything. Some days are certainly better than others, and the temperature has a lot to do with that as well.

For me, lots of stuff comes and goes, day-to-day. It is from residual stuff not relapses though. When I have had an attack, I have pretty much been left with residual symptoms (though much less-so......like a shadow) forever.

Sometimes that do occur, because I once lost my vision and it came back
