I cut my hair and now it's quite lopsided!
Yeah yeah, it's that time again... SNIP SNIPPETY SNIP! :D:eek::rolleyes:
Some of you might remember a couple years back, when i was in desperate need of a hair "fix" after getting a bad cut... and that i eventually cut it myself - into a bob cut. well the bob was nice - rather, all the different bobs during the stretch of time i kept messing with it were nice. I had started working at the financial place someplace in there and got manic... seems like one of the things I do when manic is getting hung up on cutting my hair and keep cutting it and tweaking it, never satisfied. I dunno why - and maybe it's a coincidence - or maybe not. I don't feel manic right now, but I'm not stable either, so who knows. But, I digress. I eventually let the bob cut grow out and lately i've been noticing my ends are very dry... not split yet - and was considering going to a cheap place my mom found, but i never seemed to get around to it (story of my life). BUT. what can i say i got IMPATIENT. (no, not IN-PATIENT. :D) The other day I washed my hair and cut it... really just a trim, but i had to lop off quite a bit, partly to take off all the dry stuff, and also because one side had slightly longer wisps (which looked good in the bob.) I overcompensated and lopped off about 1/2" too much from the side with the wisps... NOW it is visibly lopsided! ... And by no means in a "stylish" or "fashionable" way. All i can think is, "Uh-oh here we go again," because I'm going to have to fix it.... more snippety snipping! LOL. It isn't as though i massacred it, so I wouldn't even be embarrassed to have it fixed where mom gets hers done. I just have this "thing" that i want (need?) to fix it myself! What is with that? Well just wish me luck fixing it.... hopefully I will be able to wait till the next washing... and not start snipping at it dry... I've done that in the past and that's big trouble my hair is not easy to cut dry, not if one wants decent results anyway. I guess at worst I will keep cutting until I end up with a bob cut again! :D:eek: Sigh. ~ waves ~ |
I am sure it looks fine...I know we are sensitive to these things....the last time I got my hair cut one side was lower that the other when I got home. did not have it fixed until the next time I went in then it was too short on the other side....oh well.

I don't cut my hair anymore because I can't cut straight.
So if you do, your doing great.. You will do fine. And it will look reat till the next wash. Donna:grouphug::hug: |
been at it again
Hi gal pals! :D
You are too kind. Unfortunately, it didn't look ok to me, LOL, and trust me, if either of you had seen it, I bet you would have thought it was a bad attempt at one of those modern "spiral" cuts where one side is short and gradually lengthens around the head so that it's long on the other. That looks good on straight hair. It looks really DUMB on wavy hair like mine. Anyway, as you may guess... or not.... ummmm... I've already been at it with the scissors again... just couldn't resist! :o not once, but TWICE. :D:rolleyes::cool::eek::o I think now it is close to right. My hair is wavy so if one side waves more than the other (which does happen sometimes) it can look shorter - I have to pull on both sides - usually I take strands from the same place on each side and pull them together under my chin to check length. I learned this trick watching hairdressers, when I was little, but when I cut i usually just eyeball it for the first round. Now I just hope I can control myself from getting too perfectionistic about it. :D ~ waves ~ |
Good job. Now stop.
Waves,
You might be manic. Most likely you are not. You do have some energy. I do not believe we cut our own hair when we are depressed. Leave the hair alone. Probably it is really good right now the way it now after the second post. You did well. Did you cut it when it was wet? Mari |
Waves,
You are so funny. You know I am a licensed hairdresser. Not that I can remember much about it but I went to school and am licensed. Worked in a salon for a few years. Yes, that is exactly how you make sure it is even on both sides. Pull it forward and check where it hits on your chin. Also, comb each side down and run your hands down each side and feel where it hits on your shoulders, neck. This is the way to make sure it is even on both sides. Let me know if you have questions. Much love, Brain :) |

Sounds good. Brain I have to say, even if you can never cut hair again. I think you may start to find that short pieces of your hair cutting days may come back. Because its a lot like riding a bike. See my son has epilepsy, and it was so bad in a period at 4th grade or so. He forgot everything in education. So he had to start over, to tell the truth in the english and reading part. He has lost that many times. And never got it all back. Never will. But he does so well. I have a job working with families with children with disabilies. And we work together to give them the best in schools. Donna:hug::grouphug: |
Donna,
I am very impressed that you are able to work. That is a wonderful job you have also. So you are able to leave your house for more than a few hours at a time? That is encouraging. Waves, are you bald yet? Did you manage to stop cutting? You are such a cutie. Yeah I am a licensed hairdresser but have gone without a haircut for almost 4 years now while waiting for disability to approve me. I do not trust myself to cut hair. My scissors feel so foreign in my hand where once they were so comfortable. Oh well I have always wanted waist length hair. Brain |
LOL Folks
I did not cut any more after yesterdays two trimmings... Today is a new day!!! We shall see. Yes Mari i wet it with a detangling lotion to cut it... very hard to cut dry my hair is... with the waves and such! ;) :grouphug: ~ waves ~ |

Most days now I am out about 3 or 4 hours for my job. But I do have my days that I'm out more. And I also have my days that I just can't function period. So I spend some time at home either in the bed or on the couch. I have times that I regress and have to take sick days. And just do it. I also have a very understanding boss, and supervisor both. So that helps. Donna:hug::grouphug: |
no... not bald yet.. ;) not even a "bobcat" yet

As I said... worst case I end up with a pretty tidy bob cut. At that length my hair mostly folds under... the cut looks great and also makes me look younger. Anyhow today no, no extra cutting even though a few scrutinies in the mirror revealed there are still some wisps to be trimmed on the one side... they are towards the back kinda hard to maneuver. hopefully since I didn't touch them today I've broken the scissor cycle at least until the next wash... who knows. Tomorrow I want to sort out some boxed stuff - pull out things to give away i am sick of having all this stuff I don't use and probably will never be able to use. ~ waves ~ |
sounds like you are motivated to get some stuff done! happy for you.

Yes Bizi :)
but so far, I've only done stuff I like (other than the laundry which is easy enough - and with that I mostly got carried away once I started. The boxes are stuff I do need to do - I will try to get to some of that today, if I am not first seduced by the idea of cooking up a storm again. :D    ~ waves ~ |
