problems
I see the surgeon on Tuesday and was advised to bring a bag. I haven't been around for weeks because I have been ''sick''. I didn't go to the doctor because the surgical site looked good and there was no fever. If I went there every time I felt sick, I would live there..
We will skip the gorey details but I knew there was trouble and called pain man, asking for an emergency appt. I don't do that. Bless his heart, he came in from an at home vacation, examined me and had had a phone conference with the surgeon and Medtronic rep. I spent the afternoon having all sorts of tests run and it looks like I have an infection that is devise related. My daughter is coming up from Tennessee to take me up to see him. I will take a bag so I can stay with my other daughter until this is settled. Cross your fingers. Hugs all around. Spiney |

I am so sorry for you, and wish you the best results. Hopefully you do not have to lose your devise.

Oh no!!! I pray that it is something that can be fixed and you will not lose your device! I know you've had great success with it. Prayers and hugs my friend!

The ironic thing is I never suspected that sort of infection. The device was working fine and buzzing away. The surgeon is in Atlanta for the basketball games. I sure was hoping Louisville would lose on sunday. I need some better luck. Spiney |
Geeze, Spine...

I just talked to my daughter in Tennessee and she adjusted her schedule and said she could take me up on Thursday for a Friday appt. I guess we will take it from there. It's getting a bit spooky as I feel more sick each day, not to mention that my buzzer has been turned off for six days now. Ouch. Spiney |

I now have a Friday appt after pain man called the surgeon and told him his staff was ignoring a legitimate emergency. The surgical nurse told me and pain man's nurse that I should go to my primary doc. Dang, the surgeon had all the testing done a week ago. If I see him on Friday, I bet nothing gets done until Monday.

Praying Spine
Oh dear dear friend,
reading of this, I am brought to knees praying for you and the whole of this situation. If infection there be, surely the calendar will not be allowed to tick past one day to another as you feel greater and greater difficulty. Oh how I pray this be resolved and soon for the sake of your healing, Praying earnestly, Mark56:hug: |
I guess I can hold on until Friday. I feel worse each day but the surgical site looks fine and I am not running a fever. I was told I could turn the device back on yesterday and that has at least lowered the lower body pain. Nothing helps the surgical site or lower lumbar. I'll be staying in Louisville, at my younger daughter's until I am satisfied that everything that can be done, is done. Hugs all around.

hmmmmmm
I posted hours ago and I never came up. Anyhow, update time. There appears to be no infection which is great. The problem appears to be that the device has moved and is causing the pain. I am having surgery in two weeks. The device will be removed and implanted in a different location. Since I have had such good results in eliminating the sciatica, he wants to keep it in there. I agree. It's going to be another outpatient procedure :mad::mad: but he is going to use general anesthesia this time. He doesn't want to hear me running my mouth again, I am certain. I guess I will stay with Abigail for a few days, post op, during the worst of the post op discomfort. Things are looking up and I can bite the bullet a little longer. Thanks for the prayers and words of encouragement. Hugs all around. :grouphug:
