Piglet has been under the weather for a while

My dog, Piglet has been under the weather for a few weeks.
I've worried that maybe I needed to take her to the doctor.
But I really didn't have the money. And unless its the hubby's
idea he wont help.

So I waited and thought, well after my surgery and I would figure
a way. Well Dale had talked about taking her on Wednesday.
But didn't, I think he was worried about what it would do to me.

Anyway, on Friday morning he took Derrick to the library to meet
the gentleman to work on his IPAD mini. It was raining no walking.

Then he took Piglet to the veterianarn. So he returned, I believe
11/2 hours later. Without a piggy, and said. Piggy had to stay
at the vet, and would need surgery. She was really sick, and might
not come home the next day either. She had her uterus out, and had
a infection in her kidneys too.

At first I thought he meant she might die. But he really just meant
after surgery she might have to stay longer.
Anyway she was so dehydrated, and had to have IV. And then
had surgery that night by 7pm the vet had called him to tell him
she was out and in recovery.

He brought her home on Saturday.

She is perked up and doing pretty good today, not eating dog food.
But will eat other things. SO we are watching.

When it rains it pours. I don't want no more things to happen here.

Hey, but you too know what happens after the pouring rain: THE RAINBOW

Hang in there Donna.

Everything is going to be alright

Donna,

That is great that your husband took Piglet to the vet's and that she is recovering.

Dmom3005 04-15-2013 11:46 PM

Me too. She is so special too me.

I have to also explain my husband grew up in a family if a animal(pet)
got sick then that was it. They weren't taken care of. So when I started
taking especially Derrick's pets to the vet. It was not something
he liked exactly. But with Derrick's seizures, and the fact that the dogs
really helped the anxiety and his loneliness. He understood. SO when
I accepted the fact that Wendy was going to cost us at least $500, then
it turned into I believe $700.00. He was pretty good about it.

But he swore we would never pay for another dog to have that much again.

Then piglet had a gallstone, and had to have surgery. But I paid it. SO it was fine, even floating a loan from him. And then this. I knew I couldn't
afford her bills, if it was serious and mine. SO I didn't know what to
do. So when he said, on Friday he was taking her. I was happy, and then
when he told me it was going to be at least $500, I was surprised he okayed it. Because they weren't sure they could save her. It was that bad.
So then it became $700.00 still not positive she would pull through and
start eating.

The good news is that even though she wouldn't eat on Saturday, she did
drink water. And a little milk, but you could tell she wanted to eat.
On Sunday she was perky, and was trying to eat. And drinking lots of water, and had milk with her meds.

Then when I got up this morning, I found chicken bones in her bed area. And her munching on one. I went and asked my husband if he had given them to
her. Nope, not a single one. He didn't even remember leaving them on the floor. He thought he threw them away, since she wouldn't eat them.

Yah, she had a feast through the night, (yes I know probably not a safe one)
the the other two dogs came done and found a bone each. But one of them
tried to take one of the pieces of piglets, and she growled and all.

What a site. ANd she was asking for food, human of course all day.
Dale, loved watching her, beg for food. Of course so did I. I have to
say I think it was 2 or so weeks since she has done so much.

Yah, she is probably going to be fine. I love my guy. He didn't realize
what a wonderful Birthday present he ended up giving me.

A PT car, (I had told him he could consider it a present)
A dinner with my family
And then my dog her surgery and health.

And was there for me, and kept telling me. Not to worry he would be there
for me.

I love that guy. But this has been a nice time. Wow.

:grouphug:Thanks Mari,

Wendy is on the Left I believe. The long haired girl.

And Piglet is on the Right, with the sweater. She is the one that
had the surgery.

We have a little boy dog, nipper that I have no idea if we have a good
picture of. And Christina not a new picture of yet. Soon,.

you have 4 dogs! that is alot to take care of! are they all small?
Does everyone help to let them out etc or do you have all of the responsibility?
just curious.
bizi

Dmom3005 04-20-2013 09:34 PM

No 3 dogs and a cat.

Christina is Derrick's cat.

And yes everyone helps to let them out.

And take care of feeding and watering them.

Derrick takes all care of Christina. And right now she only goes out
if on a leash.

Hi,

Christina goes out an a leash?!
I have never seen a cat agree to that.

Mari

Dmom3005 04-21-2013 09:25 AM

Heehee, we are afraid she would not come back.

So if she really wants to go out. That is how she goes right now.

Usually in his arms. But attached in case she gets out of his arms.
