Monthly roll call/check in thread

I was thinking it would be nice to have a roll call thread - just once a month.
This one will be the first but the rest will be on or near the first of each month.

It can just be a "Hello - I'm here" type of thing, or if you don't post very often maybe a little update if you want to do that.

so- Who's reading out there and how are you doing ?

watsonsh 05-10-2007 10:56 AM

What a great idea Jo!

Shelley here (hand raised like in school)

Hey I think we may need snacks for roll call. How bout some cinnabons...mmmmm..hot and all gooey. (Shelley passing a cinnabon to Jo)

Good thing this is not the diet roll call. :D

astern 05-10-2007 10:57 AM

Here!

This is a great idea Jo, thanks!

I'm here nearly daily, but don't post often as I'd like. Typing really makes my hands puffy after a short time. Doing lousy TOS wise and mentally, but getting support where I can, esp from my family here!

Good pain-free day to you all, :grouphug:
Anne

Jomar 05-10-2007 10:59 AM

Thanks ladies!
Oh getting sticky & gooey on my keyboard - darn messy cinnabons!

Anne, You're in my thoughts and prayers .

watsonsh 05-10-2007 11:04 AM

:Wave-Hello: Anne...(passing the cinnabons)

Here Jo....(passing those wet nap thingy...Johanna would know what they are called)

DOn't mind me...these new vitamins seem to have me bouncing off the walls :D :Head-Spin:

bigpede 05-10-2007 11:49 AM

Hi Jo....I'm here

trix 05-10-2007 11:57 AM

Hi, I am still here. I am having a lot of pain. I am going to see my surgeon for a follow-up today. We will talk about the possibility of RSD, and what to do about the pain in my arms, underarms, hands, shoulders and neck. I am nervous about what he will have to say. The first 4 weeks out from surgery I felt great. Now I don't. I do not know what to do.
Tracy

dawn3063 05-10-2007 12:00 PM

Hi Jo,
I'm here...
Hey Shelley :rm_milk: with those Cinnabons :Starvin:

Sea Pines 50 05-10-2007 12:53 PM

Pass the Buns, You Bums

I'll take coffee with mine, no cream I am on a diet please respect that, people!

These pastry things are lo-cal, right? Riiight...

I am just livin' in a world of pain these days. But that would not distinguish it from any other days, now would it? hmm how is that fair, I wonder?

Sins of a past life, go figure. Or, there goes my figure - which gets me back to the cinnabons.

Circular thinking of a one-track mind, ya gotta love it!

Alison

dawn3063 05-10-2007 01:04 PM

Alison,
The way I look at it.. We suffer enough..right... Sooo There are no such things as calories or fat on this thread..
So eat up :Starvin: and Enjoy.. :Head-Spin: Ahhhh who cares S@^$W the diet :pizza:  :icecream: :popcom: :pepsi:
Hugs
Dawn

watsonsh 05-10-2007 01:08 PM

As for me...STILL waiting on those spiral CT results :Bang-Head: :mfr_wha: to make absolute final surgery decision.

 Jo if you post a monthly check in post, if people want to say hi i am here but not post, they could just hit the thanks button!

talk soon
Johanna

watsonsh 05-10-2007 02:43 PM

I thought I had posted this but now I cannot find it.

I nominate Dabbo to bring the food to next month's roll call...(hehehehehehe)

:Poke: Dabbo

dabbo 05-10-2007 03:19 PM

I'll bring the food no problem. And I'm sure we have plenty of baby wipes lying around. Can't live without them. We tried at first, but caved on the baby wipes (not on the cloth diapers tho)

and- good idea jo!

shelley :Poke: where have you been?

redjpwranglergirl 05-10-2007 04:18 PM

Cinnamon is supposed to be very good for the regulation of blood sugar and possibly good for cholesterol too. I tore something out of our newspaper awhile back about this (as in all things, check with your dr. before taking it)- SO...I think Cinnabons must be health food!:D One complaint though, I don't see a smilie with Diet Coke- one of my few "vices";) Dabbo, did you mean that ya'll are using cloth diapers?! If so, good for you! I didn't know anybody used them anymore but I did with my son (27 yrs. ago). They had disposables back then but I refused to use them (except when we traveled or went to the dr.)- too expensive and the thought of all those diapers in a landfill.... Plus, my son had diaper rash only once in all the time he wore them.

Jomar 05-10-2007 05:27 PM

I used cloth diapers too, on all my kids.
did use disposables on trips and such tho.
I can't imagine my moms generation using them all the time and even on camping trips!

watsonsh 05-10-2007 05:32 PM

I plan on using cloth diapers someday...for me

ocgirl 05-10-2007 08:55 PM

I''m alive and breathin'

I'm alive and breathin' thank God ! :yikes:

Asthma is kicking up because there are workers trimming the euclyptus trees. I have to see my internist tomorrow and Dr Saxton on Sat. Isn't there more to life than doctors appointments?

This asthma really scares me When the paramedics came and took me to the hospital, the last thing I remember is standing in the kitchen. Two hours later my daughter found me unconscious.:nopity:

I'm looking forward to my son coming home for 10 days from Tucson (school and work)

I wonder what Southwest rates are to San Francisco? Maybe Oakland will be better. hmmm wine tasting

I found a really wonderful massage therapist with magic fingers. A massage can really do wonders for the pain. He's in with a physical therapist, so insurance should pay. The best part is he is less than 5 miles away from home.

Hi evryone !

Thought I would "check in" I have been in Florida taking care of the parents..
Wheww.. Not that I don't love my parents and I love the fact I can go away to FL\lorida.. but man I am GLAD to be home !! At least it is warm here in Mass and not snow when I left !!!!!! So.. HI to everyone and hope everyone is doing good.

I am now going to see a Pain Mgmt dr. in June as my Primary in Boston told me before I left that there is nothing else he can do for me that he is non-surgical... So trying to find a new Dr. that can treat my Subclavian compressions.. (right side)..

Ciao.. and Great Idea !!!

johannakat 05-15-2007 01:15 PM

Johanna's easy cinny buns

alright you guys... to heck with cinnabon for those of us on a budget...cinny rolls are SOOOOOOOOOOO easy to make. mine come with no icing, and heavy on cinny

get a roll of frozen bread dough
thaw it, roll it out into a rectangle
coat it with some butter or margarine
sprinkle on liberal amounts of cinnamon and sugar (like well coated cinnamon toast)
add raisins if you like (i do!)
add nuts if you like (i don't!!!)
roll it up into a log
cut it into slices 1-2 inches thick (depending on how big you want the rolls)
put the slices swirly side down in a greased 9x13 pan
let rise until double in size (warm counter for fast, refrigerator for overnight)
bake at 350 until the tops start to turn a little brown
take out of oven, let cool a little
enjoy.

frankly for me it is easier than all the trekking in and out of car to cinnabon since they are all in malls!

dabbo 05-15-2007 01:57 PM

that sounds good johanna.... mmm. If thats too much work try the pillsbury with the cream cheese icing. :D

Jomar 05-15-2007 05:32 PM

Oh that same dough is great for making Elephant ears too!

just thaw it
cut into portion sizes
roll it out - thicker or thinner as you like your E ears

heat vegetable oil in a heavy deep skillet or heavy pan { 1"-2" inches deep}

carefully place dough and let fry til golden - turn over with tongs

when color is nice place on paper towels to drain then shake cinnamon sugar mix
or maybe you have to brush some butter on and then sprinkle the cin/sugar mix

Ok wasn't sure so looked it up

[ELEPHANT EARS

2 loaves frozen bread dough
1 stick melted butter
Cinnamon
Sugar

Thaw bread dough. Tear off a section (like you would if making hamburgers). Work all the bubbles out with your hands. Stretch if out as far as you can, without tearing the dough. Drop into hot grease
{I use veg oil} and deep fry until golden brown. Spread on hot melted butter while dough is hot. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Serve while warm for best taste.]
