My plans this weekend are to rest. Also to rest again. :)

got up late, went for gumbo, hubby ordered a bath runner for his bathroom should be in this week. BEd bath and beyond, looked for a new pillow. He actually lies on the floor to test them out. lol
he is taking a nap. I bought a garden hose that is too short so will be getting a new one. they gave us this one because they could not find it in their system so we walked out with a free hose from home depot. But alas it is too short! So back I go.... this will go into the trash.
anyway jeff had a gig this morning too early and up last night too late. He has another gig tonight so he is napping right now...I am going to go to the store and get a craft item for my girlfriends little girl who turns 7. Micheals has 40% coupon on line to print out and get her a gift and take it over to them. It is not as hot as it has been so that is good.
I have developed a head ache so I need to take some advil.

Sorry about your headache -- I hope the Advil cleared it up. You guys sound really busy... some of it sounds fun though! Are you going to the gig with Jeff tonight?

Btw I love BB&B. Still have some cool glass soapdishes from there! :D and bathmats too. :D

Both sound like good days. I am resting after the local big county Fair yesterday. Good food, some bargin finds. Almost 7:00pm and still not dressed.
I really need to. Get laundry tackled over the weekend.

I am going to a girl friends birthday gathering. soon the advil did the trick on my headache. I did a quick chicken and spinach and garlic stirfry and added spinach artichoke dip, it turned out like an alfredo. yum!

computer mishap
 

I uninstalled a development tool I wasn't using and discovered on restart that my AV had somehow hooked into its shared libraries... grrr. :mad:

It is not as bad as it might sound. Only the GUI is broken; the watchdog and other protection services are running.

However, I do need to fix the GUI, and to do that I must first replace the missing library. It will be time-consuming, and during the last part of the process (AV repair/reinstall) I will be working offline completely.

I might not be back in today as this stuff wears on me and I was already wrapping up a few hours of maintenance when I had the "accident". :( If I somehow wind up unprotected, I might be absent longer.

I am having a sick weekend. So ugh, its not been good for me.

Well, I'm done with my AV rescue operation! :) I had a hunch there would be multiple copies/versions of the "missing" library... indeed there were. I tried the AV repair tool and I guess it latched onto another version -- it's happy-ish now. It took me longer to do the "just-in-case" downloads than to actually fix the problem! I still have to track down a tool that also got deleted with the development kit, but that is a separate (and non-urgent) issue.

It's dinner time soon. I just wanted to pop in and let you all know my little software crisis is officially over. :)

The crisis is entirely resolved.

The remaining issue is non critical and was present before my software uninstall. As for the tool, I knew beforehand that it would get uninstalled with the SDK.

Sorry, writing software was my livelihood for 20 years or more... so I am not your typical end user. I was preoccupied when I wrote the post and did not think too much about writing it other than trying not to make it too long.

Low-tech incident report: I was doing some housecleaning on my system and had an accident. I had to take some precautions before fixing it, and I also thought that I might have to be offline for a while. The fix went smoothly, however, and everything is fine now. :)
