Severe shoulder pain now .. worse!!
OMG this happened about an hr. ago. I went to reach for a bowl for my daughter in my cabinet and the pain just shot right through my shoulder like I was hit by a gunshot bullet or an ice pick stabbing me.(what the heck is this??) I fell to the floor and screamed in pain!! My husband, started running and tried to lift me by .. "Yes" my bad arm and the pain was worse.. I said, Bill, please don't .. touch me .. please!! My daughter started crying. I said honey, it's ok, mommy wil be alright. I am sick of this!! I can't play with my daughter most days, I am not the same person I was before I had this RSD and I feel like the most rotten wife and mother.I am NOT myself anymore. I used to have fun, go out, laugh more etc. Today, I tried to clean, wash clothes.. but had to stop. this sucks BIG time!! Love Desi. (Thank for the vent) I want to cut my dang arm off.:( please pray for me. thank you all.:grouphug:

Is that the way RSD does it sometimes??? That kind of post sounds so much like posts I used to read on the TOS forum. Like an instant nerve "twang"! |
Sounds like something that has happened to me a few times too. Took a few days to stop hurting though. Just try to rest it.

That's what happens to me in my knee. I start crying and double over. I am on Cymbalta right now, but it doesn't work completely. I have also been prescribed Soma for muscle cramps. I also have vicodin that I take when the soma relaxes my muscles a bit and the pain in my knee flares up. However, the soma is short term as is the vicodins - (does anyone know how long soma should last?)
I feel your pain and sympathize with you greatly. My chores consist of: put clothes in washer, start washer, go sit down till pain subsides to functioning level. I can be sitting in my chair and not overexert it and still flares up. I haven't had great sex since before December and my son says that since I hurt my knee I have become a crab. (and I homeschool him, so we are with each other a lot - driving hurts and I still make an effort to get him to parks to play with other kids - I have to tomorrow and I am looking forward to the sunshine not the pain to follow) Hugs  Without our family where would we be? I apologize to Patrick all the time when he comes home from work and I haven't cleaned the house. |

There is a big difference in what happens to a man versus a woman in Soma (as with most drugs). Men reach peak concentrations of Soma in 2.5 hours, while women reach peak in 1.45 hours. (yes, I know exactly how this all sounds, lol ;) ) It is supposed to last for 4-6 hours, but for women it lasts less time than for men. You can easily check for yourself, though, which I'd recommend. Sometimes misinformation can get you in trouble. Just go to some rx list and look under "Clinical Pharmacology" for whatever drug you are curious about. It can be rather hard to read, but this info is for the Dr.s, not the patients. It is much more detailed.. and a bit scarier too. Dr.s don't tell patients all the potential side effects and interactions between drugs. On a personal note, I'd like to add: please be careful! I lost a good friend to Soma addiction. No, she didn't die, I just couldn't stay and watch her disintegrate anymore... she wouldn't accept that she had a problem, even though she had begun crossing the border (we were in San Diego) to buy them illegally in Mexico. Some drugs are easier to become addicted to than others, and Soma is high up on the list. If this is something you worry about, ask your Dr. There may be better alternatives for you. |
So glad you're feeling better, Desi.
Good luck with the MRI! |

hi, yes that was me that mentioned the epson salts to desi. i had heard that from someone on a yahoo rsd support group site years ago.it does work. i have found some with lavender and they are great for relaxing. i only find it difficult getting in and out of the tub so i don't do it as often as i would like. i'm glad it helps. i have the added neuropathy with foot drop and so it is a bit dangerous whenever i have my brace off. joan

Yes, I too am a bit wobbly after a long soak. I have sort of a funny, trick knee and I cannot put my full weight on it to get out of the tub SO I have this little routine to get out safely. I roll over on my stomach then get up on both knees, equal weight, the hold on for Dear life to side of tub and soapdish handle then put most of my weight on that oppostie hand. My Mum had this same weak knee thing and so does my daughter and grand- daughter. Has to do with a slight deformity of the right hip, knee and ankle. Really makes my low back hurt sometimes if I stand too long. and getting older is NOT helping. :o

my foot drop is the result of the same bad surgery, hip replacement, that caused my rsd. i cannot walk without a brace and shoes. usually i wear sneakers but i find them very uncomfortable. i wear a wide but it seems it is not wide enough by the end of the day. i get out of the tub the sme way you do ... not pretty, but it works! i am always afraid of that hand slipping when i push on it and then i would be down and out!!! ha!
