All your computers and android phones? Everything was hacked??
That is unusual I think, unless maybe one person sent an email or something to all the others and it had the virus or trojan in it... best of luck getting all fixed.. |
re thoroughly hacked
Th for sympathetic ear and info.much appreciated and helpful. We r working thru it and have folks on it. Apparently it's pretty new but it's in a field that's moving fast. Tho biz wants to play it down, prob gov too. Will get thru it:( somehow. Surprised cuz none of us generally huge sharers of info not do we have much.;)think new tech wild west out there and also ironically, contemporary biz model.

moving forward
when I first posted this, it was before all the news stories had come out re hackers. Well, I have come to the conclusion it's an all too common experience and we just stay as secure as we can and live our lives in the best way possible. It will be ok. Thanks all for responding, and the best:)

Chrome (available for Windows, MacOS, Linux and Android) is also open-source. Suggested improvements to it are considered by Google, which releases it. I use both Firefox and Chrome. As far as anti-malware software is concerned, AVG is good. Malwarebytes is also worth checking out. It is available for Windows and Android and (in my experience) efficiently zaps malware on my laptop on the rare occasions that it gets infected. |
Kiwi33,
I am back with my first smartphone and connected up by family for the first time since Dial-up days. The first thing I did was download AVG onto my phone and laptop (well, I had my son-in-law do it), and then I added it to my new tablet as soon as it came out of the box. I agree with you that it is a great product, and you cannot beat peace of mind. I also have anti-theft, remote camera etc on my phone. The thing to remind everyone is to keep your anti-virus software up to date. Even though I use my laptop infrequently - the weight hurts and the screen bothers my vision - I still log on every couple of months and update everything. Dave. |

It does not matter how good some anti-virus software may be - if its malware definitions are not up to date (preferably automatically) then it will not be able to do its job. |
contnued: wireless and phones still hacked and networked

Started to download a word processor app from what I though was a reputable name, confused with another similar. AVG caught and removed 3 Trojan Horse viruses just in the .exe files. Offending programme was from Kingsoft.
AVG, top protection, even for those of us who just about know how to do the basics. Dave |
I like AVG too.;)

I got malware on the 'scan for outdated software' part of AVG, not sure if I did it by clicking on a bogus Flash Player update I thought was AVG though. I TRIED not to. :p
