Daffodils are starting to emerge.
I was pulling up to my apartment in my car Thursday afternoon, and I saw young Daffodils starting to emerge out of the soil. A snow mound was there several days ago. I haven't seen the flowers yet,but the green part of the plants are starting to emerge out of the soil. I see the green Daffodil plants coming up fast.
Spring is coming. Don't worry. Nature has it's timings. :) BF:hug::hug::hug: |
Yeah!
I love this time of year, God's handiwork is so beautiful. I have been looking for buds on the pear trees too. I hope my outdoor plants come back from the winter, it was a tough one. Thanks for posting this BF it keeps me right here in today.

Steve,
That is beautiful.Springtime :D :yahoo: Do you get crocuses early too? I used to love to watch for those. Mari |
yes the plants change with the weather, I noticed my paper whites are blooming(they have bloomed in december) and the Japanese magnolias(tulip trees) are blooming as well. spring is here for sure!
It will be 65 here today, been in the 70's the past few days and rainy. But today the sun is out it should be perfect weather. must get out doors today. bizi |

to the left side of her house. They knew all of the names of the plants, and flowers. Now I was a butterfly collector. My neighbor who's now a scientist with NASA got me interested in that. I caught, and mounted, and displayed butterflies, and moths that where colorful. I loved that hobby. I haven't done that in years. I was a fun hobby. Soon we will hear Spring Peepers. I love their sounds. BF:hug::hug::hug: |

wow, that's a great sign BF.
My crocus are just blooming. They do that here for me at the end of Summer/Start of Autumn (Fall). I love the crocus. People used to call me the crocus fairy because when they were dormant I'd go around planting them everywhere I could just so there would be that wonderful surprise when they finally flowered. Weird upside down world we live in! |

When I was in grade school there were some white ones that would open up very very early in the spring /late winter. Once they came up through some snow. My mother was always very happy to see them. We had some daffodils that seemed to grow wild too. I think that they were yellow. M |
Ugh, even with two days above 40* and rain! we still have a 2' snow pack and mounds around my flower garden area from shoveling the walks. Looks like more to come this week, weekend, and next Tuesday.
Steve what a hopeful sign of Spring! Glad you shared. :) Di |
Daffodowndilly by A.A. Milne
I love Daffodils.
I don't know if this was originally written as a poem or as a song, but I had it as a song on a children's record when I was little. It had one of those pretty fairy tale melodies that nursery rhymes tend to have: Daffodowndilly by A.A. Milne She wore her yellow sun-bonnet, waves |

I could not find the music / song for it but here are some children reciting the poem. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wT9pwkQ63_k Daffodowndilly M |
I drove up to my home a little while ago. I'm starting to see the yellow part of the bulbs. They are not in bloom yet,but they are getting ready. BF:hug::hug::hug:

Oh gosh, how I wish I had some.
But I will just enjoy hearing about yours. Its not spring here yet. We have been in the BRRRRRh. Weather again, and expecting 8 to 10 inches by Monday. Ugh, no thanks. At least I got to go on my vacation. Got to see my co-workers in South Bend, go to my co-workers retirement. Which was fantastic. She has been one of my inspirations. To show how much she has been one. She is the one that got the SOS, I sent to them on Wednesday morning. A parent had emailed, and I wasn't able to help. Her son is headed to a manifestation hearing and possible expulsion. Well she had the right to ask for a different date. Or to get some help. The original date was today. And after some persuading, which this mom wouldn't have done by herself. She got it moved to next week. Donna :grouphug: |
Maybe soon after the snow, freezing rain, and sleet on Monday,we will see them start to bloom. BF:hug::hug::hug:
|
The Daffodils are starting to bloom as of Sunday morning. I saw some of them blooming, but not all of them. It's 66 degrees right now.
Now Monday's snow, and the temp.is suppose to go down to 7 degrees. The next night 15 degrees. Wednesday's low is suppose to be 19 degrees. Now these plants are tough, and resilient. Most will survive. BF:hug::hug::hug: |

That is lovely -- plants survive. We can be optimistic in the way that daffodils are. M |
Maybe I need to go buy a plant.
Maybe it would lift my spirits. Donnam:hug::grouphug: |

Yes. And soon it will be lighter and warmer out and we will have lots of flowers. M |
daffadils
Many years ago I planted thousands of daffadils .They took a satilite picture.some years ago and it was taken when they were out.
I probably have the only flower garden that can be seen from space that is how many I planted which took about two months. I hope you all are doing well. I am doing well despite stage three PD. Glad I planted them when i did as i could never do it now. :winky::winky::winky::winky: |
John,
Cultivating beauty is a loving act. M |
The Daffodils survived the more then 60 degree temperature drop in one day,and the snow. It went down to two,or three degrees that night. The flowers where kind of droopy, but they where alive. BF:hug::hug::hug:

I saw my first large moth on Tuesday night. It was 81 degrees that day. I expect to hear the Spring Peepers in this area soon. BF:hug::hug::hug:

Good morning John and everyone :)

My mom calls them jonquils and she's 83 today ! And in very good shape :) I've had a hard previous 12 months....have 2 new decks since last spring, summer and am determined to put some plants out there this year ! I have good intentions anyway. Have a good day everybody. Debi from Georgia |
hi debi, good luck with getting those plants out there. all of my hanging plants died and so did some of my tropicals. I need to work in the yard to clean things up. It looks like a grave yard.

Hey there bizi :)

My new decks are beautiful but empty. I'm going to ask for plants to put on them as presents for Mother's Day and my birthday at the end of May. I think it's about time to round up the 6 grandkids, my son and son in law and put them to work in the yard. My son did some last Sat and cut down 2 medium pecan trees we had in our front yard that were not in the best of shape. He left the stumps about 2 feet high so I can put a plant on top and hopefully around the stumps. I'm so sorry about your plants....this has been a harsh winter, even for them. Debi from Georgia |

Your son did a great thing -- getting those trees out and leaving you the stumps. Let him lead the others in clearing the way for you to have your flowers. M |
Hi Ladies
I am hoping to get some flowers planted this year too. My son Derrick is good help with that. So hopefully even though my daffodils aren't here yet. I'll have something. Besides the Lillies that usually come up. Donna :grouphug: |
