chat rooms off limits????

I just tried to log into chat and was denied access. It says I was not registered. maybe I need to register with psych central? I used to be able to chat before but it looks different now so maybe things have changed. any advise would be appreciated.
thanks bizi

Chemar 02-28-2014 07:05 AM

You should be able to use the chat with your NT registration bizi?

I'll check with DocJohn and see what may be causing that.

DocJohn 02-28-2014 11:55 AM

Hmm, that's odd. Have you ensured you have cookies enabled? Tried using a different browser...?

What browser are you using when you got this error?

Jomar 02-28-2014 01:06 PM

I just tried it with firefox, while logged in here and it opened normally.

Kitt 03-05-2014 05:42 PM

Did not open for me just now. Never had trouble before.

Chemar 03-05-2014 07:15 PM

Kitt
did you try the things DocJohn suggested?
There are members in chat right now so the chat rooms are functioning.

Kitt 03-05-2014 08:46 PM

Yes, I did. I see that there are members in the rooms right now. Guess it doesn't matter as I rarely go on there now. I used to be on there quite a bit before it was changed.

Just tried it again and it says that it cannot find my membership records?

Jomar 03-05-2014 09:17 PM

I just tried with Firefox and also IE, both worked, I was able to get into the lobby.

And you are logged in here when you tried to use the chat?
That is an odd message to be getting...

Kitt 03-05-2014 09:45 PM

Hi,

Yes, I'm logged in when I try to use the chat. Just tried it again. Same thing. It is a very odd message to be getting.

Alffe 03-06-2014 11:00 AM

Are you behaving yourself in there Kitt? :D

Kitt 03-06-2014 02:29 PM

Just tried again and cannot get into the chat. And I am logged in. :( So it goes.

Jomar 03-06-2014 03:40 PM

Do you have any extra strict settings on your browsers or antivirus??
What browsers have you tried to join chat with?

Maybe join @ Psych Central to see if you can get in that way??

I guess some are having chat issues @PC too.
Her is the link to their Community Feedback & Technical Support- they might have more info to help, more PC members use the chat than NT members.

http://forums.psychcentral.com/commu...nical-support/

Kitt 03-06-2014 04:40 PM

The same browsers and no extra strict settings. The same as it's always been. A few years ago before the chat was changed there were members from this forum using the chat regularly. I never had a problem getting into the chat until the latest "fix" a few weeks or so ago. Can't just remember when.

But it's fine. I do not have to go there. Thanks.

DocJohn 03-07-2014 08:03 AM

The more details about what specific page you're clicking on that's providing the error, the more help we can be in troubleshooting the issue. Also, the specific error message you're receiving (copy and paste would be wonderful!).

Thanks!

Kitt 03-07-2014 08:56 AM

I click on Chat Rooms. Then Enter Chat Now. I get:

http://rooms.psychcentral.com/?chat=...b70063eae103cc

I am logged in because when you are not you have to either log in or register. As I said, I am always logged in for everything. Thanks. It is a mystery. :)

mrsD 03-07-2014 10:17 AM

I just tried the chat to see what would happen. I use FireFox.

I got into the startup screen, but when I tried to enter Chat or the Mobile Chat....I received the same screen Kitt gave.

I noticed on PC that the mobile will often work when the regular chat is down, but apparently both won't work for me.

I will say that after an upgrade from FF a while ago, my auto filling password stopped working. (It does autofill from my iPhone however. So I have to type in my password each time here.
If I have a typo, FF asks if I want to save it...which I of course don't click on, since it was a typo.

I wonder if this is a cookie type thing? I am going to clear my cache, and check out cookie permissions today.

Chemar 03-07-2014 10:24 AM

well...seems it is glitching for me too today

I am on FireFox and I do have all cookies and cache cleared, and yes am logged in too

this is the message
Quote:

Sorry, we could not find your membership records, so you cannot enter chat at this time. Please PM DocJohn if this problem continues.

mrsD 03-07-2014 10:27 AM

I just cleared the cache, and allowed popups from NeuroTalk...
nothing changed.

Where do you clear cookies from? I couldn't find that in options.

Chemar 03-07-2014 10:29 AM

This may be a FireFox thing

I just tried on Google Chrome and got in with no problem

Have notified Doc

Clearing cookies on FF is in the History tab...click "Clear Recent History" and then check the relevant boxes for cookies, cache etc

Chemar 03-07-2014 12:08 PM

seems to be working now with FireFox

mrsD 03-07-2014 12:36 PM

still not working for me.

Jomar 03-07-2014 01:57 PM

I got that message just now.. with firefox.

Then I went to the FF tool bar clicked History -clear recent history.

then refreshed the page and was able to be logged into the chat..instantly..

Chemar 03-07-2014 02:38 PM

I clear history and cookies and cache twice a day and had it cleared before when I was unable to get in so it really does seem glitchy?

mrsD 03-08-2014 09:00 AM

I tried with my iPhone this morning...

Got the same message about membership.
(uses Safari browser).

When I first logged on the chat would not even open. Then I tried 5 minutes later and it did open but I only got the first page.

Pamster 03-10-2014 06:06 AM

I got this using Chrome:

Sorry, we could not find your membership records, so you cannot enter chat at this time. Please PM DocJohn if this problem continues.

Huh, I used to be able to get in too....

Kitt 03-10-2014 09:17 AM

Same thing here. Have tried it everyday including just now. No luck.

Lara 03-10-2014 06:23 PM

Not sure if this was posted or not, but DocJohn posted a link regarding clearing cache over on the PC Technical Issues thread.

Lara 03-10-2014 06:32 PM

I just tried to log in myself after checking everything was a-OK on my computer.

I can get into both "ENTER CHAT NOW" and "Enter Mobile Chat Now".

DocJohn 03-11-2014 07:12 AM

Should be fixed now.

mrsD 03-11-2014 08:32 AM

Yay.... it worked for me.... I ended up in two deep conversations too. There was a person there advocating steroids for work outs...so I had to step in there a bit. ;)

And another sharing his artwork... so that went on for me as well.
Spent over 30 minutes, which I was just intending to "test".

The scrolling does move fast for me... and being older is tough to follow. But I had an enjoyable time... fancy that! ;)

Thanks for fixing it Doc!

Kitt 03-11-2014 09:03 AM

My husband told me how to do it but I haven't as I believe it will wipe out everything and I will have to log in on all my other sites. I have done that in the past for other reasons.

I cannot figure out why this happened though as I always could get on the Chat before. So we shall see.

mrsD 03-11-2014 09:05 AM

I didn't clear the cookies, or history. But I did clear the cache.

The cache clearing doesn't affect your passwords or other cookies you may need for banking etc online. The cache clearing mostly keeps the pages that you view from becoming "old pages" and confusing your use of forums.

I got in easily today with Firefox. I had a fun, productive time too.

Kitt 03-11-2014 09:07 AM

Good point. My husband probably knew that too. I'll be asking him. Thanks.

Kitt 03-11-2014 12:11 PM

Just cleared the cache/ram and it worked.

Kitt 03-11-2014 03:19 PM

I found another way than suggested, with my husband's help, to clear it without getting rid of stuff I wanted. :) He does it everyday for his stuff.

I cannot figure out how to put an Avitar by my name in the Chat room. Is it possible? Thanks.

mrsD 03-15-2014 04:01 PM

From the chat room lobby:
Quote:

This feature allows you to display an avatar next to your name and chat messages. To choose an avatar, click the avatar button and a window will appear with a preset selection of avatars. Click the avatar you would like to use.
This is from one of the buttons along the bottom of the page...where the little icons are. Most of the people are in the adult chat right now. (certainly not my cuppa).

I found these directions confusing and obscure...so one has to
be a member of PC I suspect.

One person told me to go to my profile....that implies you have
to be a member of PC to show up.

They are having an obscure conversation in that room, so I am leaving, there now. None of them knew what NeuroTalk was...
even Pfreak...who is a member here! I saw another one too, who did not help me either.

Kitt 03-15-2014 04:23 PM

I've tried all of that and it does not work. I sure do not know why but it just does not work. I just wanted an Avatar as in the old days but it will not work. I can, of course, get into the chat rooms and I have but it would be nice to have an Avatar as some of the others do. Thanks.

Just tried again and I have read what you are supposed to do many times. However, there is no Avatar button to click like the Smiley's button. That's what I'm seeing.

I just got out of the Adult Chat as I see you were in there and left. I do not go to that one very much. It depends on what they are talking about.

mrsD 03-15-2014 04:37 PM

You may have to register at PC.... they are quite different than here in some respects.

I edited my post before yours several times, please look at it again.

Thank you. I guess I won't bother then. I know before it was all changed we could do all sorts of things. So it is fine. Thanks again. ;) Not my cuppa either. :(
