Pamster

how is it going with your machine? my hub now seems to take his mask off every night at about 3 am
I do not understand why and was wondering if you do the same or anything?
I meen he was great with it all night for a month or longer but now right around 3 am off comes the mask and the snoring begins every night without fail. dont know what to do :(
hope you and your family are all doing well.
Peace Peace

I have been using it most of the time but other times I am finding myself taking it off just to lay on my side more comfortably. What kind of mask is your hubby's? I think the nasal mask it definitely more comfortable then the full mask so maybe it's a case of getting another style mask. I definitely feel it though when I have taken it off at 3-4 am, I feel less rested and a little edgier. I have been trying to be better about it and leave it on and just fiddle with the pillow a bit and get it to where I can sleep on my side and still have the mask on.

I hope y our hubby gets back into the swing of using it, I know I will be keeping the machine because it's really helping me to feel better, so maybe if he's acting a little edgy ask him how he's feeling and maybe he will come to the realization on his own that he feels better with the machine then he does snoring and sleeping. It's got to be difficult for you to have to listen to it again, I really feel for you. I think I have taken mine off a total of seven or eight times altogether and when it happens that I wake up I am telling myself I'll feel bad if I take it off so I am more prone to leaving it on.

I wish you and he the best of luck with getting some restful sleep soon. He has to be feeling the difference of not using it like I know I feel when I have taken it off. I hope he hangs in there, I definitely think it's well worth the effort to use this device or I would have given up on it by now. :)

*sigh* I am so tired today, I was upset about something yesterday and was crying a good amount in the early afternoon and it affected my ability to wear the mask last night. I woke up about 2am and took off the mask because I was having trouble sleeping. Also my chin strap is slipping while I sleep so I wake up and the darn thing is not holding my chin up and I am waking up because the force of the air through my throat comes out the open mouth. :p

I put it back on around 4 am when I woke up again snoring and my mouth was so dry, I went to the bathroom and then laid back down with the chin strap a nd headgear in place and now this morning I am pretty tired even though I have had coffee already. Just thought I would post about this here so you'd see that it's possible that he will get tired of the dry mouth problem and be motivated to wear the mask again because that takes care of that horrible dry throat/mouth feeling and it's the only thing I have ever had work to get rid of that horrible feeling like my tongue is paper. :p

Hope you got some good sleep last night BMW. Hope all is well. Let me know how it's going okay? :)

Burntmarshmallow 05-23-2007 11:08 AM

 :grouphug:  I agree, let's yell! ARGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! WAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! UUUUUUUUGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

What do you know I feel better!?! ;)

Hope your hubby can come to terms with using the machine on his own, it really is a night and day difference, so maybe he'll come to his own understanding about not wanting to wake up with a dry mouth and throat, that is a good part of what motivates me to use it. Not waking up with a yucky feeling down my throat and mouth. :)

Pamster 05-24-2007 07:08 PM

I am sorry you're having such a rough time BMW, I wish your hubby finds it on his own that he feels better WITH the CPAP then he does without, I have used it every night I can and I feel it when the mask goes off in the middle of the night and I have put it back on because it really makes me feel better breathing through it. I hope you both have a great weekend, I will be busy packing and organizing, not that we have much of that left. ;)

Pamster 05-25-2007 07:32 AM

Man I am tired today, around midnight my nose clogged up and woke me up and I had to take the mask off, man it was terrible trying to sleep without it. I had the worst time with my breathing, and I am so tired today! I can't see how your hubby doesn't feel tired after not using the machine, I definitely feel it after three good hours of sleep to 6 more without it, my throat was like paper and my tongue all yucky, I won't miss using it again if my nose lets me. Best wishes to you and your husband BMW. :)

hi pamster----i am having the same problem with the air filling up in my mouth..it is such an uncomfortable feeling.i am waking up at 3 am every morning with the paper mouth too..last night with the heat i couldn't even have the mask on.. the sweat was pouring down my face and filling up in the nose mask.i ripped the whole thing off and spent the whole am crying...it is such a b---ch when you try so hard to do everything to feel somewhat more awake and all i have are more added stress and depresion --i fail at all i do--maybe i should just let things be and whatever happens will happen?? at least it will be over! moonstar

Pamster 05-27-2007 06:50 PM

Hi moonstar,

Does your machine have a heated humidifier? Mine does and I set it at 3 (out of a possible 6) and have found that it's not too hot and it's not too cold. I am really sorry you're having such a terrible time of it. I wish I had the answers, I don't use a full mask, but have found that the chin strap is the only way I can sleep anymore.

Maybe you could get one? They are relatively inexpensive and I wonder if it might help you to not wake up with paper mouth, I get that if I don't wear it and the nasal mask. I wish you a restful sleep tonight, I hope it gets better. How long has it been that you've had the machine? It's been so good for me to hear it's not working out for you really makes me feel for you moonstar. :(

moonstar 05-28-2007 12:50 AM

hi pamster...i am so glad your machine is working for you..gives me a glimmer of hope that it might start working for me too.. mine does have the heated humidifier too..i usually have it set at 2.i will try a higher settiing and see if it helps some. when i do get sleep with it is working--i know because i do dream..wish they were good dreams but can't have everything ..should be happy with the few hours of deep sleep i do get now..but the depression seems to be taking over these days..i am not so sure a chin strap will help me at this point..i seem to get so hot a sweat so much that i believe it will make me sweat more..and feel really closed in.. the nose mask has been filling up with sweat( gross but true) i pull it off constantly and have to wipe my face and actually empty the mask of it..then have to try to get back to restful sleep again--not an easy task--
i have had my machine since april 27..so it has been about a month now..maybe it takes a little longer for me to get use to it..how long did it take for you?? i am not sure if the sweatiing is froom my perimenopause..or from my rsd..or just another problem added on to my full plate..the drs have no answers for me (as usual) all tests come back with ???? results...
hope you have a peaceful night's sleep too--thanks for caring--it helps alot to know that i am not so alone with this mess..but on the other hand hurts to know that you and many others have to be going thru the same ...peace and happiness to you--moonstar

Pamster 05-28-2007 07:19 AM

Thanks for the caring words moonstar, I really apprecaite it, I know you're having trouble with the machine. I don't have a sweating issue most of the time, but i have woken up in a sweat usually on the nights I haven't been using it, like when I have taken it off. I woke up a little sweaty, I think because I had the comforter over my shoulder and it was a little warm in the apartment.

But I put it back on for awhile and all seemed to be well until my son woke me up-LOL-hehehehe, but maybe you're right, that the strap wouldn't help you. I depend on it to be able to breathe through my nose, but if you 've got a full mask you should be getting better results, or so I would think. I think it took me about a month before I got real used to using it so hang in there, I hope it gets better for you soon moonstar.

moonstar 06-07-2007 03:26 AM

hi pamster--thanxs for all your encouragment..i do not have a full mask--only the nose mask--i am still having the same problems(air forcing itself out of my mouth) i did move it up a notch to 3(from 2) and not much help there..i will try to move up more..have been unable to get back to the dr. due to the vertigo-driving is not so easy..well nothing is not so easy anymore..but i am still going to keep trying--before i give up completely..hope things are good for you..--moonstar:rolleyes:

Pamster 06-08-2007 07:48 PM

Things are kinda going bad here, we don't have door chains on the doors here yet and it's been a week. :( So I have kinda not used the cpap so I will wake up at the drop of a pin and not sleep as deeply. I sure feel tired too. I wish you had better luck, the full mask is probably what you needed, it's a shame that they cost so much, I couldn't use just the masal mask without the chin strap, I find that it really doesn't make me hotter by wearing it but then I sleep with a fan on.

I wish there was an easy answer for you moonstar, just know I am sending good vibes your way and keeping you in my prayers. :)

moonstar 06-08-2007 08:55 PM

thanxs for your good vibes..can use all the help i can these days..sending them back your way too.. moonstar

Pamster 06-12-2007 06:33 AM

Thanks moonstar! :D I have been doing pretty good with the cpap, although I find I have been taking it off for a few hours a night to sleep comfortably on my side. I still feel good when I wake up as long as I have used it for a good five hours or so. ;)

Hope things get better for you moonstar, hang in there. :)
