Nueropathy pain subsides when eating
 

I know I have mentioned this before but never really threw it out there to see if anyone has every heard or had similar feelings. When I eat a good sized meal my nueropathy will go away completely for about 20 minutes and may improve for the rest of the day after. Its not nutrient based because it happens almost immediately. I also have acid reflux which is controlled by diet and isn't bad enough that it causes me pain enough to even take any medicine any more. Thoughts? I have had my blood sugar tested many times and have had every test I can come up with as well as my doctors.

Oh and I just had surgery to stop the ischemia in my stomach. Worked to relieve me of 7 years of gastritis but did nothing for my peripheral and autonomic nueropathy

Could just be that when you eat you're triggering your brain's reward system in such a way that it is temporarily alleviating your pain.

I agree. Eating releases both dopamine and endorphins.

that makes sense, how do I get more of that without stuffing my face all day? I am not sure if it makes a difference but sugar type foods always make my nerves feel Better. I do stay away from it though. probably just from the reward my brain gets from it.

Obviously this is all theoretical but have you tried substituting sugar with stevia and seeing if you still get the same result? Personally I love stevia and use it everyday in my coffee instead of sugar. They also make soft drinks with stevia. It doesn't contain any calories and it's natural. Something to try anyways.

I'm not sure that you can without doing something that you either can't—practically speaking—or wouldn't want to do all day (except maybe eating chocolate :rolleyes:).

I've long advocated making time/a point to laugh (for at least 20 minutes) and do something that creates/gives you joy every day.

It can also be accomplished via biofeedback, mindfulness meditation, etc.

Didn't think of this but will definetly give it a try.

I will look into those. Interestingly and unfortunate chocolate doesn't help. It usually only happens after a large meal. Also if I eat a normal sized meal I get benign facilitations after on my left legs and arms. So much weird that can't be explained with this disease.

So are you saying if i EAT a big portion meal the pain would ease down the pain for my NUEROPATHY. Cause I TAKE nuerontin 1200MG 3X'S A DAY, diazepam 10MGTAB 2X'S A DAY , morphine sulfate ER TEB 60MG 2X'S, OXYCODONE/APAP TAB 10MG/325
