New Journey thread

Hi,

I want to taper off Gabapentin (Neurotin) if I can.
A few mins ago I took roughly 1.50 mgs (one and a half capsules) instead of my usual 200 mgs.

==========================

Wed afternoon (today) we have a full moon.
The changing cycles of the moon can represent this:

http://astrology.about.com/od/founda...p/FullMoon.htm

~The waxing moon (Wed morning) can represent new beginnings along with increasing health and wellbeing.

~The full moon (Wed afternoon) can be a time of the balance.
Supposedly, we can feel the full moon three days before and after - a six day period.

~The waning moon (Wed evening) has symbolized removing or dropping things one does not need, . . . clearing negative influences.

I probably should try to go to bed.
I have a hair appointment in the afternoon.

Bizi,
We are off now.
But I still have to stay in close contact with a few students, administrative stuff, . . .
Two days ago my boss called to check with me about something and brain storm.

You are so lucky you saw the Full Moon.

I am working on going to bed -- still up at 5:00 am.

Mari I know what you mean. A couple of months ago I was so wound up,and distressed about a problem, that I didn't sleep all night, all morning, and finally got to sleep at around 3:00 PM in the afternoon.

I called my councilor at around 9:00 AM,and told her that I could not make it to my appt. that day. BF:hug::hug::hug:

I saw the Moon the night before it was full. I didn't see it last night, but the night before. We had over three inches of rain on Thursday. So I saw it on Wednesday night when I went to the mail box. At least I think that it was Wednesday late at night.

I like to be low profile, and get the mail late at night, and I go to the post office mail box in front of the post office to mail my bills in late at night.

I live in a small town where people talk. I don't want them talking about me. I guess I'm a little paranoid. I'm not comfortable with people around. People look at me a lot. BF:hug::hug::hug:

Steve,

The moon was beautiful.

I used to like driving to the post office in the middle of the night when no one would bother me and everything felt peaceful.

Yes, I often used to do the same thing in my former seaside colony.
The main deal was there was no vying for a parking place!! ;)

I walked home from the pub when it was just dark, don't like to do that but it is only 3 blocks from our house. I vowed to never drink and drive and I am sticking to that vow.

Sorry about that. I just didn't understand what you'd taken.

Closet purge. Decisions. Decisions.

Hi,

I have a small closet perfect for my work clothes
The second and larger closet is so jammed that it is overflowing into my computer room.
Time for a purge –- so difficult but necessary.

I have stuff in two categories:

Things that will stay in the closet:
Clothes on hangers, shoes in a shoe tree, and necklaces on a necklace tree.
Two boxes labeled piano music
Containers of hand-written journals from teenage years to my 30s
Suitcase and overnight bag

Things that can be reduced or eliminated:
Purses, book bags, lunch bags
Two photo albums. Photos loose in envelops in a box
Wall art. Incomplete wall art project. Poster w/out frame. Special fabric Mom gave me for a craft project, and the like

Fluorescent Sun Light I bought many years ago and used twice

Old eMac. Keyboard for eMac. Two boxes of computer stuff (old and new)

Organized folders somewhat related to work
A few folders from work friend who died
Two or three boxes/ plastic bins from graduate school
Two big plastic bins of empty notebooks, plastic envelopes, and folders
Huge box that holds several boxes of colored computer paper.

One milk crate sized container that appears to be full of junk
Empty milk crates stacked inside each other.

Good job with the initial sort/categorization, Mari. :)

I wish you well with the reduction/elimination process. This stuff is hard to do.

Mari 05-27-2014 12:28 AM

Waves,

Yes. Especially since I have stuff OUTSIDE the closet that is in the way.
I made that inventory to try to figure out where to start.
Here is a blog / book on getting rid of stuff.

I started small, asked myself: What if you removed one material possession—just one—from your life each day for a month? What would happen?

The result: I unloaded way more than thirty items in the first thirty days. It became a kind of personal challenge,

So I’m forced to ask the same important question over and over again: Does this thing add value to my life?

Mari My closet.:Hum::Hum::Hum: I have allot of stuff in there, but it's a very large closet. LARGE CLOSET! I sorted out the things that where of value when I moved here nine years ago in a hurry. The hurry was because they closed the whole apartment complex where I lived, and kicked all five hundred people, give or take, out. They sold it because some company offered a top dollar deal that they couldn't refuse. I ended up throwing away many things into a very large dumpster the size of a small truck container. I regret throwing some of those things away.:( BF :hug::hug:

Waves,

Mostly yes. But I feel like I want to do a little bit of both. I dunno why.
There is stuff in milk crates outside near the door.
The opening to to the closet is narrow and has a folding door so even if I took off the door, the entrance in and out of the closet would be complicated for moving stuff.

==
In related stuff-moving:

My office mate was fired apparently. I do not know the details.

This I do know.

Yesterday/ Tuesday I spent THREE HOURS loading her crap (books, garbage, junk, . . ) into garbage bags so that the cleaning crew would haul them down the stairs.
The garbage "bags" were thin. I could only put small amounts of stuff in them.
Still, when I was done, I had put together 24 bags.
Then I smudged the room.
I was really unhappy that she had taken with her a small cute print to canvas painting of mine that was important to me because
six years ago I spent a lot of time getting the right piece for the right spot and until yesterday I thought the spot was perfect.

I have to go back to do some more wiping down of surfaces (dirt and dust in drawers), sweep, and figure out what to do with what used to be a low white bookcase that she used for her teapot.
. . . I do not know if it is best to cover the top of the book case or to talk myself into covering the tea stains with white paint.

Go with the feeling. That's motivational stuff... good stuff. You will be making progress. Often it is hard to find a starting spot, but it sounds like your gut is suggesting things to you... like maybe those crates. ;) Or suggesting not to limit yourself... like maybe move the crates so you can access the door better?

Oh! And she took something you bought??? Not nice. Unless you'd given it to her, I s'pose. Maybe you can find a duplicate of it, or something very similar, now that you know what works for the spot?

I might just line it with white paper towels to buy myself time to decide without suffering the eyesore.

Have you considered contact paper? I used to cover boxes and such with a marble-patterned one... I've seen it with pinkish-beigish and grayish variations. The dominating color is white/light. I find it less tacky looking that the ones with stripes or rows of things, and you don't have to be too fastidious cutting/lining up.

Will you miss your office-mate?

:grouphug:Just so anyone cleaning out things knows.

If you happen to have notebooks, post its, folders, and other office
equipment. That you don't have a use for.

Many of the animal shelters, would really appreciate the things.
Along with donations of food and treats. For cats and dogs.
Our local one that Derrick works at is always asking for any that
folks don't want.

Yes, she took something I bought and she knew it was mine.
There is a very slight chance that her teen aged daughter was with her when she packed up and the teenager packed it knowingly or unknowingly.

I spent considerable amount of time and thought (esp thought) to that piece.
I bought it when my last office mate O.D. 'ed on his bipolar meds and caused himself brain damage.
At that time, I consulted with my sister re Fung Shui, . . . .
. . .
The walls have lots of thick paint but the plaster behind crumbles.
A few walls have something behind them that is impossible --- maybe metal beams.
Those walls require drilling.
So I am designing around a limited number of functioning nails/screws.

(Last office mate used a power drill to get some nails/screws in the parts that would hold nails.
After he O.D.'ed, work friend who died drilled two or three nails for me just before he got sick.)
-- One place was perfect for something that was smaller than 14 inches across so a 12 by 12 print I bought online and had transferred to canvas was nice.
I got something very PINK that I could see as soon as I opened the door and pink for me at that time represented love. . . . .

Maybe. And maybe we will see each other again.
We had not seen each other much in the last 5.5 months because of our schedules.

There is random contact paper already on things that do not need to be because the last office mate had some kind of fetish about covering most things that could be covered --- window on the glass door to the outside, tops of filing cabinets, . . .

I probably sound witchy.

But, Mari,

When in a witchy-feeling moment.... because it might take that....ehmmm :D:cool:

.......... Could you maybe call the office-mate and ask her for the painting which she "must have accidentally packed with her things"?

I do feel a great iffiness about making a call to the effect of, sorry you got fired now give me back my stuff, but... it might be easier to do that, than to fix the spot again. And, it might in fact have been accidental, somehow, in some way we can't think of.

This is all strange. Last weekend I invited her over after she texted me that she was "let go."
She wanted me to know so I would not be shocked when I saw that the "office was empty."

She was busy. I texted another time at a restaurant. She said that the next week was better. I do not expect to hear from her, but I wanted to be civil to her in case she really did want to talk.

Dmom3005 05-29-2014 10:42 PM

:grouphug:Mari

I would definitely reach out about the painting9pickture)

especially if a teen or young adult, forgot which you said. Was
at the office helping. Its very hard when your already down,
to have a fight with teens.

So it might be she would appreciate the opportunity to return
the painting. Without feeling she has to bring it up.

I can state for a fact, there were times when my oldest Danny. Was
with me I just let whatever happen. And dealt with the people later.
But it wasn't till he was 16, and some people reached out. And let
me know they realized he had lots of problems. And they made
sure I knew no one thought it was my parenting.

It meant the world to me. At a very dark moment, that someone reached
out to see if I was okay.

I am hoping the two of you work it out.

Mari 05-30-2014 02:08 AM

Yes, Donna,

But it is not just about the artwork.
She left a mess.
I had many bags of garbage piled high on her desk and on the floor when I was done.
. . . so much weirdness goes on around me.
Am I the only completely sane one around?????

Mari Is there allot of thunder, and lightning? I don't like it when the lightning hits something close by,and I hear a Boom,Boom!! Then I know that it can hit the house that I'm in. My area is well grounded because I have antennas on the top of the house. I drove a number of true ground rods into the ground with big hammers, and sledge hammers, and grounded my radio system, and house when I moved in here.

I don't like power failure either. I hope that the sun light comes back tomorrow for you. BF:hug::hug::hug:
