Could we please try again?

Well, I know I said I was going to leave the forum, but after some soul searching and receiving a number of the nicest messages, postings and emails, I began to realize just how much this forum means to me... Thank all of you for such kindness. I was overwhelmed at the nice responses that you sent or posted.

Usually, I sit at my computer nearly every night, doing email, checking out a few websites or maybe watching an animal webcam in some far off spot. But, I nearly always end up coming back to this site, and when I don't, it feels like something is missing or out of sync.

This really is a family of sorts, you know. A family where most of us will never meet in person, yet who probably know more about one another’s feelings than some people who are close to us. How many family members or friends can even identify with what it means to your life to have Peripheral Neuropathy? Pain, anger, frustration? We have all been there.

Minnie, my little Yorkie, with renal failure, is like my shadow. At night, she is so indoctrinated into our computer routine, that she automatically heads for her bed beneath my feet next to the computer. This week has been a real puzzle to her, and she simply cannot understand why “we” are not going to the computer room after my husband settles into his TV recliner. She stands at the door whining for me to follow along behind her, then gives up and resorts to pouting on the couch…

And so, in a couple of nights, after we get some things caught up around here, I will sign on and try to start catching up on my reading… She will be thrilled that things are back to normal again. There are few things sadder than a pouting Yorkie... :)

You see, I cannot give this up… I have missed you, my friends. Could we please try again?

Love,
Cathie

I am glad to see you back and posting again.

Some times even a short break

makes us appreciate those we miss more.

It's upsetting when someone stops suddenly and completely...being on-line, well you never know. I for one am really grateful you are back in my life! - j

Besides, we CANNOT upset Minnie's 'schedule' can we? Scritch her for me!

watsonsh 05-28-2007 12:17 AM

YAY I am so glad you are back!!!!!!!

darlindeb25 05-28-2007 05:35 AM

Cathie, So happy to see you back. I was hoping you would come back.

daniella 05-28-2007 06:51 AM

Yeah!!! I'm glad your coming back and finding what helps you. Your such a great email buddy too. Take care and hope Minnie is feeling better and you too.

glenntaj 05-28-2007 07:06 AM

Absolutely glad to hear this--

--there is little in life more inexorable than a small, angry dog. :)

(Coming back to us will probably help you avoid The Yorkie's Revenge. If you've ever experienced it, you know. If not--be thankful--it's too horrible to even contemplate. :D )

Silverlady 05-28-2007 07:39 AM

Wonderful

Cathie,
I'm so glad to have you back. You belong here, you are part of this family and so is Minnie. Keep her happy. We don't want an unhappy puppy. Glad you are here with Minnie.

Cathie,

It sounds like you needed to do exactly what you did . . . step back just a bit and consider, reflect, see what emotions arise, etc, etc. I often find a process like that to be helpful when faced with something in which I have a significant investment. And you certainly have such an investment in this board . . . and hopefully will for the foreseeable future.

Adastra 05-28-2007 12:38 PM

So pleased Cathie.

I am so glad you have decided to stay with us Cathie for as cycleops said I don’t consider that you ever left us. You will know from my PM how much I for one need you and those like you. Your compassion and understanding in the face of your own severe problems are a help to so many here. So let me finally say – it’s was lovely to read your posting and I shall continue to look out for future ones as before.

Tony

mrsD 05-28-2007 01:52 PM

I too am glad

to see you posting again, Cathie.:Tip-Hat:

Posts that appear that say "I am leaving" always upset me. It appears from the responses here that others feel similarly. It is sort of like a "rejection".

I believe people should post when and where they want to or are able.
I think we all understand that chronic illness creates absences for treatment
or for recuperation, or for whatever other reason.;)

Hooray you're back! Besides, I'd love to hear more about Yorkies! I would like to get a small dog. What is Yorkie short for?

jakatak 05-28-2007 10:13 PM

That's nice

It looks like you've been welcomed back with open arms. I'm sure that everyone is very happy to have you back in the fold.

Brian 05-29-2007 12:14 AM

:) This is great news, we can't afford to loose good members like yourself.:)

Yorkiemom 05-29-2007 04:32 AM

Thank you all so much for saying such kind things. You really made my day today. I can see I have a lot of reading to catch up on. I am happy to be back among "my Internet family." :)

My Internet assistant Minnie, headed straight for the computer room without missing a beat... No pouting tonight! What a happy camper!!!

One of you asked what Yorkie was short for. It is short for Yorkshire Terrier, a very small, personable dog that works its way into your heart, via your lap, and never ever leaves... If you are having a bad day, there is no better medicine than a Yorkie. If you are having a good day, there is no one better to share it with. They come in different sizes; all have wonderful personalities, whether large or tiny. One really nice thing about them, is they do not shed like many dogs-good for people with asthma...

Originally, bred for hunting in Britain, (Tony-also a Yorkie lover-may correct me here if I am wrong) they were used in the field to chase game down into holes because of their small size. Now all they hunt here is a lap to sit in... :) :) :)

Minnie's mother Beavis was rescued from an unfortunate kennel-she spent most of her life in a cage. Minnie was born at the foot of my bed and attached herself like glue to me, as Yorkies do, early on. I have been able to keep her going now, for about a year now with special medications, prescription food and SubQ fluids daily. She has brought so much joy into my life, particularly since PN, and she rarely leaves my side...

Some of you may remember me falling apart, when I thought she would die quickly from renal failure. I never imagined that such a tiny creature could make such an impact in my life, and I thought, if I could just have her a little bit longer...

I am happy to be back. Besides, I know there is too much good material on this site for someone NOT to make a movie and I want to be around to see how that plays out... Imagine who would be a suitable character to play our own Mel, a talented and multi-lingual cook and combination nurse to Alan, who is outmuscled only by his own doctor. Then we have Jack-his character, no doubt, would have to be a mysterious John Grisham type, because he undoubtedly is a court expert and probably looks like the lawyerly type, making loads of money and driving a Ferrari. He would be married to a 22 year old, who wears a size 2... We would ply her with cheesecake and cookies until she hit at least a "12, maybe a 14." And "Biker Babe" LizaJane and her hunky biker guy-No question here-that would be Sandra Bullock and Jesse James of Orange County Choppers. Va-va-vooommm... Aaah... Dressed in black, matching bikes and no visible means of support... And LizaJane with a pierced naval??? Our LizaJane??? Shock! There are a variety of nurses and no doubt other medical personnel here, so perhaps a hospital theme could be worked in... Imagine the possibilities with a cast like this... Maybe a McRichard, McGlenn and a McDavid??? All suave, smooth-talking characters who are always disappearing into supply rooms with innocent and unsuspecting nurses??? Our MrsD could play the CEO and attempt to restore order to the set... Like Jack, she would be a wealthy, but mysterious character, who commutes from an unknown island, where she is nurturing a crop of rare herbs destined to cure PN.... She is wealthy, in part, because she has made her fortune selling these on Ebay.

I am sure you all could fill numerous others I am leaving out, though not forgetting, because it is 3:45am and I am falling asleep over my keyboard... At this point, my imagination is cranking down... :) :) :)
Much love,
Cathie

MelodyL 05-29-2007 10:00 AM

CATHIE,

I love the way you write.

Now who would play who, if we made a movie about all of us!!!!

Me, I'm the muffin lady who speaks 5 languages, and I take care of Alan.
So who would play me and who would play Alan.

Me??? I'd opt for Meryl Streep because she can play any accent and be any nationality. Now who could play Alan?? Harrison Ford, maybe?????

lol
Melody.

P.S. Now cmon guys, who would play everybody else???

mrsD 05-29-2007 10:19 AM

L O L

Aside from Robin Williams ( LOL)...

I'd pick Judi Dench for mrsD
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001132/ or
Dianne Wiest
http://www.imdb.com/gallery/ss/01155...iest,%20Dianne

No offense Mel., But I think Kathy Bates would do a good job for you!

and Hey...I like that wealthy bit.... sigh.

I am sorry to see Brian left out...maybe Cathie will add him today.;)

Brian 05-29-2007 10:21 AM

I heard a whisper that this movie is going to be shot with a few segments of full nudity. :D :D :D so i don't mind being left out, really.

Oh, Tony...

You look like my husband! :yikes:

He is Scot/Irish/English descent.

Yorkiemom 05-30-2007 01:41 AM

No. no. no... :) :) :) Brian hasn't been forgotten, nor Bob, nor has anyone else, not even that cat who is "not amused." This would be a very big movie, and a HUGE production requiring a lot of casting agents and some rather "vivid" imaginations...

Since I just got my self-taught certification in casting at 3:45 am yesterday, it would be helpful to have some input here to come up with some colorful, imaginary characters, based on our forum participants...

Meanwhile, we find characters Brian and Aussie, co-owners of Braussie, Inc. (think a la Brangelina), currently in the final stages of negotiations for the establishment of a sizeable breeding colony of large Huntsman spiders, for export to the Texas pet trade. A famous fashion jewelry designer, Silverlady, has meticulously produced tiny, individualized, personalized leashes studded with Swarovski stones for the discriminating pet owner, who wants something uh, "different."

Expect to see glimpses of George and Jerry "bigger is better" Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys, famed mainly because they are no longer in Dallas, wearing these on their lapels in appropriate settings.

Please, would the next person who takes up this thread, write these spiders out of the Dallas area, or better yet out of the script??? :) :) :)

Soooo, fire away... :) :) :)

Cathie

Ha! Ha! :D :D what an imagination you have, you made me burst out laughing when i read your post,:D :D exporting Huntsman :D , nar, we will give the Huntsmans a big miss right out of the States all together, business is booming now as we are importing Methylcobalamin & Mel's magic muffins :)

MelodyL 05-30-2007 09:37 AM

Bob: I think Brian Dennehy should play you!!! I have no idea why!!!

He is very manly, in a big old teddybear kind of way.

So my choice for you would be Brian Dennehy.

Now to the person who thinks Kathy Bates should play me!!!!

KATHY BATES???????

Did you ever see Misery??? Do you think my little picture in the upper left hand of my postings, do you actually see a person who could chop off James Cannes' feet????? Why the very idea!!!!! Bah Humbug.

Now years and years ago, someone told me I used to look like a young version of Elizabeth Taylor.

BUT KATHY BATES??????????????????

OH I GOTTA GET A FACE-LIFT!!!!!

lol

Well, the vivid imaginations I think we have covered. LOL! As for those spiders. *shudder* Best they be left out of it altogether IMO.

Silverlady 05-30-2007 12:58 PM

Not me

Cathie,
I'll design the collars for tiny dogs, but no way am I going to try to put them
on the little devils. Yesterday we tried to hold a very unwilling tiny chihuahua named Copper (7 lbs) to trim his nails. We rescued this little mite and he wasn't handled enough to do this and anytime you restrain him he's frightened. Vet finally got to do it. I gave up. No way am I designing collars for these wee things unless the owner agrees to check for size. Maybe I can just have an exotic, glamous shop and people will come from far and wide to buy these horribly expensive things to adorn their little darlings with.

And NO way under the Texas sun am I touching a "pet spider" to put them on. Someone else write them out of this thing. I'll agree to little dogs, but never spiders. Hate the things. I shiver just looking at them.

Cathie,
Welcome back.

Billye

SeamsLikeStitches 05-30-2007 03:06 PM

Oh, I want to play! I want to be in the movie! No spiders though!

However, I don't know which actress we could get to play me!
For Mel, I think Sharon Osborne "looks" the most like her, but there's no way the personality fits.

I think that Jack Nicholson should play Bob!

This could take a lot of research! I'm on a mission now!

mrsD 05-30-2007 07:02 PM

Oh, Melody!!!! Pshaw

Kathy Bates is great at light hearted stuff. She has won many awards thru the years.

I liked her in Fried Green Tomatoes, and also she played a fun loving gal on
Six Feet Under (the TV show from HBO which is now rerun on Bravo!)
She was Mrs Fisher's friend who got her out and shopping and out of depressing situations. Very effective in the role!

She is very good. I've never seen Misery...and don't intend to. Sounds
frightful and morbid.

Yorkiemom 05-30-2007 07:04 PM

Well, my husband looks like Tony and MrsD's husband too.. I don't know how to add photos to postings, but I guarantee you he does...

Could these be triplets, somehow mysteriously separated at birth???

Cathie

Silverlady 05-30-2007 07:55 PM

Ah haaaa!

This is the next movie idea, I can see it...triplets separated at birth! :p
