That's what my test showed. I slept terrible last night....again, was very nervous and exhausted when I got there so my B/P was 201/110!!!! It went down and I waited for IV to get started, etc. So when doctor got there and the test started it was holding pretty steady in the 160s. She took it every 2 minutes! So after standing for the prescribed 20 minutes, the internet is wrong and not 45 minutes, she laid me down and gave me medicine to, as the docotr said, aggravate my heart and then stood me back up. Well actually it's 70 degrees. So it still stayed in the 160s and then went to the 120s. It was then I started feeling tingling in my hands, then heaviness in my arms and I knew from the way my head was feeling that it was going to happen. Then all of a sudden B/P was 79/40. So I ma going to see an electrophysiologist which is a cardiologist that specializes in the heart rhythm. I hope to get in with the same one that sees my husband for his atrial fibrillation. The doctor was very concerned about one of my B/P medicines. I take it at night and it is peaking about the time I am in church the next day. So that pill will now go to noon and one of my noon B/P pills will go to bedtime. I hope that works for now until I can see this new doctor and get all put in line. Some of the medicine used for this is Prozac and Effexor. I don't like that. My daughter was on Effexor and it was bad for her. I also read this does has genetic tendencies. Mince both my daughters have everything that my mother and sister and I have I imagine they will both have this also at some point.

I'm sorry about the results but am so glad you got the test done and now have a better idea of what is going on. I've been keeping you in my prayers. I hope that the switch in dosing times helps for the time being and you don't have anymore episodes.:hug::hug:

I have that too - so you aren't alone ;)

I have a great cardio electro doc & autonomic clinic. I am on 3 medications and that helps me greatly. Took a while to get my under control. *note this is not the same as a simple vaso-vagal event, but many uneducated docs assume (or were taught) otherwise.

Here is quick rescue trick-

If you can't sit/lay down and feel it starting- Cross your legs back around each other & grip muscles tightly (almost like a little kid's severe pee-pee dance lol), then slightly bend/squat. It forces blood to CNS and really helps *if* you do it soon as you start the sensation of crashing. Release the grip slowly once the felling has subsided - if you stand up normally you will crash hard.

This has kept me from passing out several times. i.e. when standing in line or waiting to go in someplace. I usually just tell people who may notice "Oh, I have a bad cramp in my leg and am trying to work it out" :D

Effoexor did nothing but make me tired. Studies have shown that it is not really that helpful, mainly tried off label as it was an older teaching about 15 years ago. Often the key is finding the correct medication(s) cocktail and dosages.

I happen to take metoprolol, florinef and midodrine, but mine is consider resistant to treatment.

Jane thank you so much. It helps me to know that some one else who has already been there is now here for me to 'consult' with. My appointment is July 30th. The manuever you do with your legs, can I do that in a choir loft and anyone in the congregation will not know. We are behind a entire floor to waist high railing. And what kind of medicines are Florinef and Midodrine?

I think you could do it without anyone noticing. Heck, even if they happen to glancea t you and notice --- its better than you passing out :eek:

Florinef, Midodrine and beta blockers (lopressor) are some of hte drugs to manage the problem of NCS. Most docotrs have bever heard of florinef and may only be vaguely aware of midodorine since this is not a common condition. Note: they start you off on laoading doses and it can take a few weeks to see if it works (my body tried to over ride the medications at first, but my doc warned me about it. Now I would kill before I gave them up since it is the only thing that works pretty well for me)

I am already on a beta blocker. What is Florinef and Midodrine? So how does the loading doses make you feel?

I have my appointent with the nurse practioner inmy doctors office tomorrow. I have to give her this 2 week diary and hopefully she can enlighten me on this neurocardiogenic syncope. I think I will also ask if she knows what the laws are or any agency that I can go to as far as my sister's problem

All went well. B/P is good but of course Sundays are always my test. She and my doctor had already discussed my positive test and talked about my medicines. They don't know what the medicine will be that this specialist will put me on since I am already on them. I hope it isn't the medicines like Prozac and Effexor.

Sunday morning church here and gone and NO DIZZINESS!!!!!! None at all. :):):yahoo: I just stood up in the choir and kept the beat with my feet and legs. I may have looked weird but that is better than laying flat on the ground from passing out. I also was able to sing in the ladies trio with no problem. The other two ladies are powerful singers and that is my natural voice but in a small choir you have to curb that back a bit. But our music minister said to let it loose. So I did.

I also have done some soul searching about my approximate 5 years out of the church. I know it hurt my Mom deeply but I had no answer for her. I truly believe if I had stayed at my old church that I would have just gradually accepted all the changes it was making to become a contemporary church. You know how we have gradually accepted more and more crime and sex in our TV shows. I might have just accepted it. As a preacher's kid we moved around so much. At my old church it was home. My husband and I and both of our girls got married there. My husband and both our girls were baptized there. It was home. But it was by choosing to leave the church for several years, but not loosing my faith, and then finally my conscience getting me back that I sought out a church that would meet the needs I had, find the church that my old church used to be. And I found it. I have found my niche in this church and I feel right at home. Now if I could just learn peoples names!!!

Thanks Ali, it made me so happy to not have any dizziness this past Sunday. Now if I can just repeat that I will feel more confident.

Midodrine(brand name Proamatine) and Fludrocortisone (brand name Florinef) are just Rx drugs that can be used to help manage the issue we have NMS heart rate and blood pressure "kerflooey-ness"
