Olive Leaf Extract

Okay, I wanted to share this with you all. I am taking a new supplement called Olive Leaf Extract. Here are some links so you can become familiar with it:

http://drhoffman.com/article/olive-leaf-extract-2/

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3596374/

This link explains the Herx reaction, which is a die off of the infectious organisms: http://trustinfood.org/olive-leaf-extract-side-effects

It's doing some good things for me and I can definitely feel a (good) difference in the way I feel. :)

I know several people who take this and it's done a lot of good for them, too. The first few days are rough (Herx reaction)....but after that it's smooth sailing!

Glad for you, Kitty. You will be in great shape
When those babies arrive. And later when
They bring all the upper respiratory
Viruses, you'll be less likely to catch them.

I am one of the major Herx-ers.

But my son is using the 20% herb 4 times
A day with no Herxing. .. So everyone
Is different. I suggest starting at 500mg of
6% a day to start. You must drink lots of
Water while using OLE, to remove the
toxins released by the microbes killed by it.

All seems ok Kelly, but I'm asking, "why would I need this"?
I mean, is there a specific ailment or disorder that would call
for this therapy? I don't want to take anything I don't have
to take, especially if it has uncomfortable side effects.

If you'll read the first link it will tell you all the positive things that OLE can do for you.

"Research suggests that olive leaf may be a true antiviral compound because it appears to selectively block an entire virus-specific system in the infected host. It then appears to offer healing effects not addressed by pharmaceutical antibiotics. Olive leaf’s broad killing power includes an ability to interfere with critical amino acid production for viruses; an ability to contain viral infection and/or spread by inactivating viruses by preventing virus shredding, budding or assembly at the cell membrane; and the ability to directly penetrate infected cells and stop viral replication."

OLE has stopped my over active bladder
Symptoms. It has also shrunk my swollen neck
Lymph nodes and fixed my chronic
sinus inflammation.

It works for viruses, Candida, intestinal parasites,
And pathogenic bacteria.

There is an emerging theory in biological
Research that infection of some kind is
At the root of most if not all human
disease. Rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn's
And non Hodgkin's lymphoma are only 3
conditions we know are infectious in
Origin.

Type a search into Google:
"Human diseases associated with infectious
organisms"

I am in my 2nd week of taking OLE and it's doing good each and every day.

I still occasionally get the Herx reaction but usually only at night. My legs ache but that could be MS.....who knows!?

I have noticed that I only had to take one 10 mg Baclofen last night. I usually have to take as many as three over the course of a night for my leg spasticity. I took one before bed last night before I even thought about it. I might not have actually needed it but it's become such a habit I took it before thinking. Tonight I'll try to go without it and see what happens. :)

Thanks, MrsD, for suggesting this supplement to me! It's not an overnight fix but a slow and gradual improvement that I can really notice every day.

That is really great Kitty.

I can't deal with the Herx here at the
Cabin.. Too primitive here and long walk
To the outhouse. The Herx makes my
Legs weak and shaky.

My son LOVES this OLE since he has been
Having lots of upper respiratory infections
Lately.

My sinuses really cleared up quickly too.
It is my GI mess that I need to fix next
but not up here .... I'll do that at home.;)

It is also a plus that this is not even expensive.

I ordered another bottle just the other day because I don't want to be without this stuff!

It affected my legs, too, which was quite difficult at first because I already have issues with my legs....especially the left one....but I knew it was temporary so I just put up with it. It's much better now although I still get a few symptoms here and there. I think once it's finished detoxing it will get a lot better.

I haven't gotten any of the tummy symptoms so that is a plus. I generally tolerate all medications and supplements well and this one is no exception. I just take two Aleve before bed (if I can remember) and that usually take care of any aches and pains.

Is this something you take daily or just when you feel you need it?
LDN and a good diet has me feeling pretty darn good and well, so I
think I'll wait for a need basis on this one.

Happy it is helping you and thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Kitty 08-01-2014 01:56 PM

I take it every day, Sally. I'm glad LDN is still working for you. It just wasn't doing anything for me anymore. :)

ewizabeth 08-03-2014 12:31 AM

Dumb question here, but what if you just use olive oil in your diet? I have been for several years and it seems to have a benefit.

mrsD 08-03-2014 05:24 AM

There is a good article on Google from 2010
That claims the active Oleuropein extract is
In immature fruit and the leaves of the
Olive tree. The Oleuropein is lost with processing
Of the olives, for the most part.

If you Google " science direct 2010 olive
Leaf extract" you'll find that detailed paper.
From what I've gathered OLE is rather new
Because of the processes to extract it
Are new. But it has been used in a more crude
Form for hundreds of years in the Middle East and
Other countries that grow olives commonly.

I am sorry I can' figure out how to link sites
With the iPhone. I am on vacation with only
It on 4G. (Most pages don't show the address
Bar :o )

There are6% and 20% concentrated extracts
Now. I recommend using the 6% one sparingly
until you see how much you Herx from it.
I seem to have a huge load of infection
Compared to my son and so consequently
The die off is uncomfortable for me. I suspect my culprit
Is mostly Candida with some viral mixed in.

I found this when I googled what you wrote Mrs. D. I'll try to find more later on.

Kitty 08-03-2014 10:15 AM

The links I supplied in my first post are very informative. MrsD gave them to me so I knew they would be complete! They give good information on OLE and the Herx reaction some people get at the beginning of the treatment. I'm over my Herx reaction for the most part but there are still days when I get a little achy.....but that really could be from just about anything.
