Tgif Weekend Check In.............

Happy weekend to all...........Been one of those weeks for me, in the dumps.

Have a bunch of errands to run today, not motivated at all, what else is new.

No plans for the weekend, going to be around 100 degree's, so I guess the pool.

Just a bunch of things going on in my mind and I am trying to figure them all out.

Check in...........Hugs, Nikko:grouphug:

hi Nikko,
Don't work your head too hard....rest and relaxation when you can...pool sounds like fun!
It has been raining off and on all week long.
We are headed with some friends for a night of camping out in tents this saturday...have never been camping with them or over night anywhere before so that should be interesting.
I hope that there is some sunshine in your weekend..we all need this!

I finally made it here on Friday instead of Sunday, yipee!! It's beautiful weather here, but a bit warm. We're hoping for a pretty nice week-end, my hubby is off today, too. He often takes Fridays off when I am off, so that we can get some stuff done, and maybe even have some fun! :p

We should have a Sunday night-Monday morning wrap up if anyone has had a spectacular week-end (if there's someone out there that ever does!!) Well, I can dream, can't I ??

I saw my therapist earlier today

Hi,
I saw my therapist earlier today. She volunteered to talk to my pdoc about my sleep problems so that I could get some better/different meds.
I said, "Ha! The last time any tdoc and pdoc of mine talked I ended up in 5 point restraints in the hospital.
She asked, "Do you trust me?"

It's raining and windy here. We are supposed to watch out for tornadoes.
Say hello to Tropical Storm Barry -- the second storm of the season so far.

I need to check with hubby to make sure we have hurricane supplies. He put them somewhere but I can't remember and I surely wouldn't be able to find the in the dark. Plus, the batteries usually don't stay good for more than a year.

Hello all!
Quiet weekend on the homefront here. Todd's car is in the shop waiting for a part for his clutch so that it can be replaced. So we are trying to figure out a way to get him to work and me to my appointments next week. Sigh. I hate it when he gets work done and doesn't think it through.
Today going to the mall and getting Todd a new pair of glasses since his are giving him problems. No need for a new script just frames.
Beyond that I don't think anything else is going on unless something pops up.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Mari, I would have a hard time trusting but then you'll never know I guess unless you try.

Wendy, I need to get my butt to get new eye glasses.

I should have realized when it was in the back to be detailed and the side doors were open. it was a minivan....

I was so sad, just the price, color GREAT otherwise''

Hi,
My friend came over to help me organize my papers on the floor. Then we went to Kmart to buy pastic containers and some little shelf units to organize some more.
She is coming again tomorrow.
I am hopeful that I can stop feeling depressed about the stuff in the apt -- it is too chaotic.

Camping was a lot of fun...
it was situated on a very wooded lot in the national forrest. There was a pad to set up your tent but we moved ours to a more comfortable spot...there was a fire pit and grill and picnic table. We were able to park the car about 200 feet from the site and walked all of the stuff in. WE brought our own water and there were only toilet pits a good bit of a walk from our site....but we were thankful for all of the amenites.... not too many bugs and only saw some poisin ivy a couple of times....the bayou had a sandy beach that the camp site was on was more like a river, a small series of rapides that the kids could float on tubes. I was so disappointed...as I did not bring a bathing suit or any other clothes to change in to...rats! It looked like so much fun!
We will just have to go there again...made jeff promise me that we would go again. Our hike today got rained out, a big storm just came out of no where...kind of thrilling actually.
last night we cooked out hambergers and had a big campfire. Made smores! Our friends had done this before...the next morning he actually cooked bacon and eggs and coffee! I want a little stove like his!
It would be an emergency stove if we had a storm and the electricity went out. We should have one for hurricane season.
I slept well on the matress pad and from my sleep meds, i was out like a light! The ride back went by fast, played card games with Abigail the 9 year old girl...
Ending up turning out just fine. Wonderful really.

I forgot to tell you all that after we got back from camping over the past day...I have had these really big mosquito bites!!!huge like welts!
WEll I went to a pack and paddle shop today to look at camping gear and the owner told me they were chigger bites!!!!
all around my ankles knees and waist....
UGH!
So much for camping!

Quote:

Chiggers are different from other mites, in that they feed on humans and other animals only in the larval stage. The adults and nymphs feed on vegetable matter, insect eggs, and other insects.
When humans come in contact with infested grass or other vegetation, the chigger larvae get onto the skin and travel until they meet an obstacle like a waistband. At this point, they attach to the skin and begin to feed. After feeding for three to four days, the larvae drop off the body to continue their growth cycle. While feeding, the larvae secrete a fluid which causes intense itching. Within twenty-four hours of attachment, a reddened area up to one inch in diameter will appear, which may be accompanied by a blister. Continued itching is usually due to a delayed sensitivity reaction which may persist for several weeks.

UGH!!!!
just what I need

Mari 06-05-2007 10:35 PM

Bizi,
And so soon after the poison ivy! :(

We used to get theese on our bellies after we went in the woods when we were kids. The itching was intense.

This link says to wear loose clothing next time and to use Caladryl to help with the itching and to keep infection away. Good luck.

You might encounter chiggers in any number of environments, but they are especially concentrated in damp areas with a lot of vegetation.

They are attracted to concealed, moist conditions on hosts, too, so they tend to attach to skin under tight clothing, such as socks and underwear, or in concealed areas of the body, such as the groin and the armpits. One way to decrease the chance of chigger bites is to wear loose clothing when you're in the woods or other infested areas. You should also take a shower as soon as you get home from an outdoor expedition, to remove any chiggers before they attach to your skin.

In North America, chiggers don't spread any diseases to humans, but chigger bites can get infected. You should keep the irritated area clean and refrain as much as possible from scratching. ....... If you spend a lot of time outdoors, check an insect and spider field guide to find out what sort of chiggers are in your area.

One commonly known remedy for chigger bites is to apply nail polish to reduce itchiness. This does not kill the chigger or treat the bite in any way. It simply seals the area off from the air, which keeps the sore from itching so badly. If you want to apply something to relieve itching, it's much better to use a salve or cream that contains antihistamines (Caladryl or hydrocortisone salves are the most common).

Like nail polish, these treatments will seal the bite from the surrounding air, but they will also help to prevent infection. If the welts continue to irritate you for more than a couple of weeks, they might be infected and you should see a doctor.

Thank you Mari!
I hope they go away real soon, I have 10 welts...and yes the poison ivy is all too fresh a memory.
At least I have a bunch of stuff left over to treat them.
I hope you can rest....How are you doing?
