Idk what do you all think

I hit my head as we all know but after doing some web searches I came across some interesting stuff. All the drs said I have a concussion but all ct scans came back normal so brain may have had 1 but mild. All the symptoms I am having now all are coming up as whiplash. Concussions and whiplash have similar symptoms but mine is leading towards whiplash. Yes I took a shot to the head but according to webmd my symptoms closely match whiplash not pcs. Where do I go from here? Any suggestions

It is common for a concussion to happen in a whiplash event, and vice versa. You treat the symptoms, not the 'diagnosis' anyway. Since you started a new thread, I can't scroll back to see your previous comments about your symptoms. It would help if you listed them on this thread.

A clean CT means NOTHING when it comes to TBI. It simply isn't subtle enough to image damage to all those tiny, but vitally important, axons.

Until you've had a neuro-psych test, I don't think you can be sure you don't have a TBI. In fact, it is quite common for brain injury patients to have deficits of which they are not even aware. Ironically, the worst affected patients are often the least aware of their deficits.

Having suffered both a TBI and whiplash, I know that the physical symptoms can overlap. The ultimate source(s) won't have much impact on how they need to be treated.

However, I would still advise you to have your cognitive function evaluated.

I was fine at time of injury no symptoms just motion sickness from ambulance which I get all the time. 4 hours later dizzy nausea dry heave. Ct scan nothing sent home labeled as concussion in ER. That night didn't sleep well I'm still only sleeping 5 hrs when I use to sleep 7-8. Next day headache pain in neck shoulder and tricep hand felt cold blurry vision. Blurry and double vision 1 week later both have subsided only get a lil when headaches come on. The problem I am having now is tension headache starting on left base of neck and going to front and around the head. They are brought on due to cracking neck from left to right. Do I may have had concussion also but whiplash may still be cause also. Pain in shoulder subsided but behind ears on both sides of neck are bothering me and looking down to quick and putting chin to chest.

What treatment are you getting for your neck ?

Italianman479 11-21-2014 02:43 PM

Just left my primary

He said I have whiplash and prescribed me naproxen he said it is muscular not a problem it will subside

That's bologna,

If it is causing head aches, clicking in your neck, and such, there are treatments that can help it heal. You need to find a physical therapist who is skilled with whiplash and concussion symptoms related to whiplash. Some myofacial release therapy may help.

23 days later

I feel better today if I adjust my neck I get a little dizzy and very mild headache but goes away. I feel a dull pain in back of neck on both sides but not in the middle which go to base of head. My doctor feels it is whiplash now and concussion has healed. When I put my chin in my chest I get dizzy from looking down otherwise normal. What do you all think?

I think you're still dealing with a concussion my friend, and if you're on naproxen (I'm currently taking naproxen 500) don't mistake feeling better as complete healing since it's likely partially a result of the naproxen you're taking. I had a pretty bad setback in the summer doing this exact thing. Started feeling better after taking naproxen a few days, started thinking this concussion was finally done, started exercising again and wham, symptoms came back with a vengeance that I'm just starting to feel better from.

I got to go back to work tomorrow as per drs and insurance co so what do I do? I hope I feel better 100 % by Christmas.

Your doctor has no evidence to support his claim that your concussion has healed. Obviously a WC doctor. They rarely have a good understanding of concussions.

Be very careful if you are going to be on the road. It would be better if you can work in the yard where the public are not at risk. Loading salt and sand or whatever there is to do in the yard would be a good start. I'd hate to see you in a 15 ton truck driving down the road and turn your head and get dizzy.

Stay safe.

My best to you.

Back at work they got me cleaning inside building. When I look in mirror in bathroom feel dizzy and when I walk and look at metal grating when I walk. Otherwise thank god no headache just a little wobbly when I stand still I rock from side to side. No headache vision or neck problem at the moment. Thank God.

Have you asked to get tested for vestibular issues ? You should also ask to be tested for vision issues, such as convergence insufficiency.

Italianman479 11-24-2014 01:26 PM

Ophtomoligist said vision is fine and optic nerve is fine also.

Mark in Idaho 11-24-2014 01:40 PM

Were you specifically tested for convergence insufficiency ? Sometimes, a behavioral optometrist does this testing.

Italianman479 11-24-2014 03:08 PM

He was my ophtomoligist the work men's comp paid for the tested for everything
