I just hopped on here 4 a min and saw this.
I hope your feeling better by now.
I had my GB out about 10 yrs ago.It was no fun!!!
A piece of advice 4 you.Try to stay away from fatty foods for a bit, until you recover.
Your body goes through a kind of shock after htis surgery....
Thinkin of you!
 Kell

BJ 06-08-2007 04:43 PM

 thankss for thinking of me

I just got home from the hospital and I'm in loads of pain. They couldn't get it out the key hole way because it was too inflamed. Then I got sooo sick from the anesthesia and couldn't eat so they wouldn't let me go. And I had a drain in for the stones.:(

No Doody I don't have a hubby but I have a trusty pillow that's supposed to help me get up and down. :)

I'm on some heavy duty pain meds and need to :Zzzz: My bikini days are over. I have a 7 inch scar and it looks terrible. :o

Could someone please cut and paste in the dentist forum for Bryanna. She's been so kind to me. I can't keep my eyes open. :thud:

Alffe 06-08-2007 04:50 PM

I pasted it there for you BJ....I am so sorry you have to go thru this. Is there anyone that can come help you? A friend...co worker? Wish I could be there.

gentle hug

befuddled2 06-08-2007 05:32 PM

BJ,

I'm kind of popping in here to get acquainted with people after my episode Monday night.

I hope your doing better soon. My husband had his taken out about 7 years ago. He had to sleep in his recliner he said because it was too uncomfortable to lay down. I hope you can lay down.

Alffe 06-08-2007 06:35 PM

Welcome Barb! (Befuddled) *grin

BJ 06-09-2007 06:19 AM

Thanks for moving it Alffe. I should have stayed in the hospital like they wanted me to but I'm stubborn. I've just now been able to get up. I feel asleep when I came home in bed and couldn't figure out how to do that pillow thing. I did so well in the hospital but I had that little button that I could push when I was in too much pain. I'm so embarrassed I even wet the bed because I couldn't get up. :o

I'm going to plop myself in my recliner and hopefully I'll be able to get out of it. And I left my pain meds in the bathroom and didn't take any all night because I couldn't get up. Now

bizi 06-09-2007 11:43 AM

ohhhhh
I am so sorry that you were stuck on the couch...you poor thing.
I am glad to read a report from you but wish you felt better.
gentle hugs for you today(((((hugs)))))

I feel soooo bad for you girl!!!
If i lived closer i would def come and help you!!

I also slept in my recliner{thank goodness i had one}!
I got myself all set up as best i could, then stayed in it basically!
Pillows are GREAT!
I had one for my tummy when i coughed. You do tend to cough alot after surgery....Please be sure and drink pleanty of water to flush the meds through..I remember all too well what it was like for me 10 yrs ago.
I know you have a much larger incision than i did though...
Take care and take it ez on yourself..Don't try and push this recovery, you will only hurt yourself!
Your on my mind lady:hug:

Doody 06-09-2007 05:20 PM

Oh you poor bay!!! They were able to get mine out through the belly button incision with some difficulty, but they did it.

You got the big ole fashion way! Yes it does hurt! Thankfully, my daughter stayed with me for 3 days and was able to help me get up. Getting up is SO difficult, even just rolling over to your side or on your back is difficult.

So I think that recliner idea for now is an excellent one. It's too bad we aren't nearer. You'd have us all showing up to help!!!!

I've often wished all my internet friends lived in one big village so we could all see each other. :) You take care and try to stay on top of the pain. They told me to take at least the minimum amount of pain pills regularly, which I did. Mine were just hydrocodone, but I took them regularly every 4 hours and it helped me sleep a lot.

Hugs.

Me too.

I'm just so miserable right now. I'm so afraid to move and can't get on top of the pain. This is the first I've been able to get up since this AM. Every time I move I get nauseous and the pain is terrible. :(

These hospitals think that you can understand what they're saying. You're in there and on morphine and they tell you all these things to do and I can't remember a darn thing they said except don't miss a dose which I've done because I couldn't get to it.

Back to my recliner and my trusty pillow.

Wren 06-09-2007 08:22 PM

I've said a little prayer for you and your health. My gb was removed the 'old way' and I know what you're talking about. I'm worried about you.

bizi 06-10-2007 12:13 AM

Dear Girlie,
I am so sorry aobut this....
Please try to get some nourishment if you can...the pain meds can make you nauseated if you don't eat something with them.
Yes and taking your pain meds every 4 hours is the way to try to stay up on top of the pain.
I wish you did not have to go through this alone....
(((((HUGS)))))

befuddled2

BJ 06-16-2007 02:29 PM

I'm doing better, I guess. I went to my doc's yesterday for a check up and everything looks good. But from the driving and just walking it sent my pain sky rocketing. I'm just really tired and have no energy.

I've been living in my recliner just about watch Animal Planet, Discovery and National Geographic. I've learned so much about meer cats, cheetahs, lions and tigers and bears OH MY!! :D

The sun is finally shining so I'm going to lounge outside for a while to get me out of this slump. I wonder if there is such a disease as SAD?

Doody 06-16-2007 05:00 PM

Why yes dear girl, there is such a thing as SAD and it's called Seasonal Affective Disorder. Those gall bladder operations are no picnic! It took me quite awhile to be able to move about withOUT pain.

Here's some info from Mayo Clinic for you on SAD...My daughter gets it really bad in the winter time.

Quote:

Like many people, you may experience cabin fever during the winter months. Or, you may tend to eat more or sleep more when the temperature drops. But seasonal affective disorder (SAD) goes well beyond those symptoms. Seasonal affective disorder is much more than the winter blahs. It's a type of depressive disorder.

If you have seasonal affective disorder, winter's short days and long nights may induce feelings of depression, lethargy, fatigue, cravings for sweets and starches, headaches, sleep problems and irritability. Though seasonal affective disorder commonly begins in young adulthood, it's uncommon in people younger than 20. It's more common in women.

What causes seasonal affective disorder is unclear, but it may have to do with the amount of sunlight you receive. Although SAD can affect people anywhere, it becomes more common the farther north you live — perhaps because these areas of the earth experience decreased daylight for months at a time. In some people, however, recurring episodes of depression may occur in the summer, rather than in the winter.

Although there's no cure for seasonal affective disorder, treatments can help you successfully manage the condition so that you can go through every season of the year in relative comfort.
And more, from that web site.... Information on SAD from Mayo Clinic.

BJ 06-17-2007 07:18 AM

Thanks for the info Doody. I think it's just a combination of things getting to me right now. I thought I'd have 5 little band-aids and be back to work in no time. I've had too much time to think about things which is not a good thing. We didn't have sunshine for 9 days because of one of those back door cold fronts we get here. :(

And then Mother's Day and now Father's Day. I was dreading today but every commercial was about what to do for your dad today. If all was good my dad would be resting in his hammock all day and my mom and I would be cooking on the grill and making potato salad. Dad didn't have to do anything today and he ate it up. But he worked so hard other days and we tried to make it special for him.

I sat outside and wrote a poem to my dad yesterday. I was going to post it but I think I'll just keep it in my pocket today with my cross.

Enjoy your day in heaven dad. I'm sure mom's cooking on the grill as I write this. :D

Doody 06-17-2007 10:21 AM

(((BJ))) Rest and do whatEVER pleases you...even if it's naughty. :)

Alffe 06-17-2007 12:11 PM

That's one of the things I love about Doody...she's so permissive in a non-judgemental way. :p
