Where to post..
Trying to cheer myself up and sitting here looking through my window, across the lane in the field is a mare (Dina) and her two week old foal, Dreamer, what joy and pleasure I have had watching the antics today, its a gusty showery day here and suddenly the rain will lash down, this is obviously distressing to the foal who immediately runs to her mum for shelter, as soon as the rain subsides Dreamer takes on new life and energy and is such fun to watch , running, kicking her heels back even more amusing trying to use her back leg to scratch behind her ear..
I was taken to see her in my wheelchair yesterday, wow, that really made her skittish, new experience, answer from the owner was please come over more often as she has to get acclimatised to new experiences. Now that made me feel really good inside. Even better was the feeling when she calmed down and let me pat her, ohhh that velvety fur.. and coming back through the garden and up my ramp I could smell those roses.. |
I am terrified of horses, yet your post, makes me want to pet one! I can smell the roses too! Thanks for the beautiful "word picture". I like to see the little calves, in a pasture behind my house, kicking their heels and running.
I think I could cheer up if the sun would just shine for a few days. It rains here everyday and it is so glooooooomy! UGH! Even my Parrot and dog are feeling the gloom. Paulie likes the sun coming in through the sliding glass door and likes to look out and see the squirrles in the backyard. He thinks he is a dog so he doesn't pay any attention to the birds! OIf course he also thinks squirlls are dogs! LOL That is OK...my dog thinks she is a bird... eats bird food! Maybe it is the lack of sun and we are ALL going stir crazy in this house, from the gloom! :D Have a great day! :) |
What a nice story, thanks for sharing.

Nice story.
:) That was a really nice post. I love horses. I used to have them in my youth. Your description of smelling the roses was wonderful too. I could just picture it all. Thanks so much:D

Thank you for such a lovely story. What fun it will be to watch the foal grow.

If the horse lets you get closer sometime - you should smell her. { no I'm not weird-LOL}
For me the smell of a horse brings back memories of growing up & grandparents farm - the big big barn full of hay, playing with cousins, riding ponies and then horses. just a lot of good times. |
I loved reading your post!
I have been thinking that I spend too much time inside and need to get more connected to nature and the changing of the seasons. Your words are a lovely reminder of this necessity.

Dolphins are always smiling
Not to take away the warm feeling about the horse and foal, but hopefully to add to it, I'd like to share about what a good friend observed the other day while standing at the water's edge.
A dolphin with two offspring swam into the inlet near where he was standing. She motioned and gathered her offspring, "telling" them to stay there. Then she came to the edge of the water, which was not deep, and fished for food, as my friend described her, as a master fisherman. While mother fished, the two young dolphins stayed put where instructed - just playing away. Having fun while mom went food gathering. He was quite touched and just quietly watched these gentle creatures. We all need to get outside more. Paula |
need to get out more
hey Paula -
remember "Flipper"??? They call him Flipper, Flipper, faster than lightning, No-one you see, is smarter than he, And we know Flipper, lives in a world full of wonder, Flying there-under, under the sea! I loved Flipper! love you! |
flipper
Flipper reruns are still shown in FLorida. Carey did you have to look those lyrics up?....you have such a phenomenal memory for lyrics I'm thinking 'no, you didn't have to.
;) paula |
must confess ......
I looked them up - I could remember the first 2 lines, but not the rest!
Even before stumps started this thread I had been thinking about how I closet myself too much - I saw a beautiful sunset from my own window the other night and realized I hadn't bothered to look out the window for weeks at that special time of day. I've never been to an Atlantic Ocean beach - I'd like to see an ocean sunrise someday. I keep intending to visit, but you know about good intentions! Cheers from the West Coast, |

Reading this gave me as much pleasure as watching the foal and her mum, I have never seen dolphins live so it was tuly amazing to read this story. so many of us possibly can't physically do much, I know that I can't but I try to remember that there are still so-called simple pleasures to enjoy, free as well. Those roses, I love the smell and watching them grow, but have now found it hard to bend over to look after them from the wheelchair but ...the problem was overcome, minature standard roses in tubs on the patio, so I can still enjoy beauty and scent. and those horses well they supply the most wonderful manure LOL's Sometimes I have found that just by sitting relaxing watching the birds or trees or horses my body can relax in a natural way, soothed by nature.. Ss hearing
My name is Teri I'm a 50yr old female. I applied for social security back in 2003 to present. After being turned down 3 times my attorney advised me to apply again which was in sept 2008. My first application I was found unfavorable. I was denied my second application only once then a yr later I had my second hearing and was found full favorable from 2008 in may 2011 , and 7 days later I received a letter fully favorable. At that time my first case was sitting around and no one could find it this file was now at the Federal level, but now that i was awarded last yr the appeal consult decided to step down, and have an ALJ to review my case since i was awarded with my second case. Today I went to court, and I just found out that the judge had an expert Dr. on the line phone interview. This Dr read my files and he didn't think at the time I was disabled and I was capable to work full-time. So now I have to wait 30-90 days. My attorney seem to think that the expert Dr ruined it for us. My attorney asked me today if i wanted to keep fighting for this case or just forget about it since I've already been found as disabled any suggestions ????
