Laptop Here!!!!!!!!
Yes it finally arrived!!!!! It got here in late afternoon and we have started with the installations already. I was able to get my internet connections set up and actually used them to access the forum that I moderate. Everything worked ok there. Couldn't remember the address to here, I've got to set up my browser favorites and have to get my list of favorite internet addresses out. I was almost afraid to use it, afraid I'd break it. My husband is laughing at this. He says I can't break it unless I drop it or smash it.
It is a beautiful laptop, so many new things to learn! But the basic concept is still the same as the one I used while we were at Mayo. We just have to get the bugs worked out and teach me how to use all the new stuff. We still have some things we have to purchase to make the working of all of it more comfortable for me, but it looks like it will fit my shakey hands, blurry eyes, and just generally make my life a lot easier. Just as soon as we can learn how to operate all the bells and whistles, I'll put a photo of me working on it. I was just so excited all day waiting for it to arrive. I'm not going to run you all thru one of my long thankyou's. :D But Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!!! :p :p I'm sure there are going to be some questions of all the computer savy folks on here as I learn how to use all of the things the machine offers me. You are truely wonderful people and I love you all! :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: Billye |

I hope you will enjoy it for a long time to come! Do post a photo, I for one would love to see if my own mental image of a "Silverlady" is even remotely accurate.

Nope,
You're gonna be surprised! I'm not silver headed. I'm a fiery redhead with large brown eyes! :D Everyone always thinks I'm a silverheaded woman. The name Silverlady actually came from the fact that I use a lot of silver in my jewelry making. Some people called me the "silver lady". It just seemed appropriate when I started posting here. It was the first thing that came to my mind. But I will post a pic as soon as we figure out how to do it. :) Billye |
Billye - to the Egyptians of King Tut's time....
SILVER was the most precious of metals...gold was insignificant by comparison. Silver was harder to find -
Learning to use all the bells and whistles is one thing....FINDING them where-ever they are hiding is quite another! Now you can 'do' stuff and not put your healing off schedule! That is why there are soo many good people in this world! :circlelove: - says it all. - j |
It is just great to see you that excited about it! I hope all the adrenalin doesn't flood your hormonal-neural circuits :) It seems you are embracing the fun and excitement . . . as well as all the new stuff you will (out of necessity!) learn. As always, please don't hesitate to ask about things -- you know that we would love to help you . . . . and we get a little bonus by making that laptop more real.

Oh, are you ever going to have a good time! Good luck and I am so glad that we were able to make your life a little easier in your journey to feel better while getting back on your feet. Take care my dear. |
Billye, enjoy your new laptop.
now and always

YAY!!!!!!!!!! Enjoy :D

Here's the link to this forum!!!
Here you go. Next time you visit, just click on the link, send it to yourself in an e-mail, and when you use your laptop, here you will arrive.!!!
I'm very happy for you. http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forumdisplay.php?f=20 |
It's great to read that you are so excited, a nice gift to a nice lady, ENJOY :)
All the best Brian :) |
WhoooHooooo...
Nothing like a new "gizmo" to get the circulation going! What did we all do
when electronics were not around...hmmmm? I'm trying to remember! LOL I am glad you like it Billye.... now we are going to have you everyday now! ;) |
Cool.
I am sure you'll be enjoying this for a long time to come (providing you don't drop it!).
Not only do I want to see your picture, but your husband's as well. (And maybe a few more of your jewelry creations. I need anniversary gift ideas. When you've been married twenty-something years, what with birthdays, holidays, etc., you start to run out of gift suggestions.) |
Send us a really nice photo Billye so I can print it, frame it and hang it on the wall over my computer, I’m sure it would give me inspiration.;)
My very best wishes for your continued improvement. Tony :) |
Enjoy !!
Now remember, you'll be needing a new one, in about 3 years- cause this one will become 'obsolete' (Bob's law of electronic gizmos) :) LOLOL |
No..You all give ME inspiration,
I just can't tell you all how many times I've come here with questions, some that were keeping me awake all night. And I've gotten the answers. It's like having a loving Mom or Dad who will keep you safe. Even tho you all couldn't protect me from getting hurt (Sjogren's and the neuropathy), you did kiss it and put a band-aid on for me and then give me a hug.
Then I'd go away and do what ever my body would let me do until I "hurt" myself again. You have always just been here for me. When the old BrainTalk forum went down, I was just absolutely miserable. I did have email addresses for some of you and we stayed in touch until we were able to all group up again here on Neuro Talk. And when I found all of you back here again, it was like getting those loving arms wrapped around me again. And now, I find that you are just part of my every day world. It's wonderful and I love you all so much. Thanks for keeping my world right with this laptop. Now I'm gonna go eat, feed dogs, brush teeth, (all those mundane things) and then I'm gonna spend the day learning the new laptop. See you later. Billye |
Aha
so I have to admit that "I'm a fiery redhead with large brown eyes! " was not the 1st image I had but this sounds just as lovely. I will look forward to the picture.
Betcha alkymst doesn't immediately conjure up an image of a 'pottamus in a tutu does it. Alkymst |
OK now,
Alkymst,
I'm not understanding that one. What I think of with your name here is someone mystical. I think of unicorns stepping out of a mist or a man draped in long silver robes standing in a swirling cloud of sparkling stars or some such mystical image. Maybe a tall lean man with shoulder length full gray hair. And piercing blue eyes. But not a hippo in a tutu. Never. Told you all I was wordy, didn't I ;) Billye |
I think we should all post our photos so we can all see who we are speaking to. Unless we have photo phobia or we don't have a camera.
I used my webcam. Best little gadget ever invented. mel |
i tried but first i cracked the lens, then the site crashed

It would be fun to see eveyones photos - but Melody - I've always had a camera in my hand to shoot other people - so I guess I do have photo photobia! (my cat pix though reflects my spirit it think!):)

Pictures of everyone...
Hi Melody:
I think too that it would be fun to see what everyone looks like. However, I for one don't own any kind of camera, much less a digital one or whatever it takes to e-mail pictures. You all will have to continue to picture me as this gorgeous 77 year old babe! Actually, it is better that way. Cheers... Shirley |
Yeah. I'm so glad it arrived and its making you happy so far. Its weird though I have never seen you guys I have mental pictures in my mind. I'm sure I'm way off.

Silverlady
Sorry for the confusion here – my error. I forget too easily that this is probably not apparent unless you really knew me and my sense of humor, which can be really off the wall on a good day.
As to your description – pretty close for the eyes, don’t know that they are piercing but they are azure. No long flowing hair, still have it all, but a long standing S&P full beard, mostly S now. I have had the beard since I left the Army – many years ago. Your image of an alchemist is similar to my screen saver which is a color woodcut from a 16th century Dutch alchemist who is searching for the ever elusive philosophers’ stone – much like my own profession. A good analogy would be the sorcerer from “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice”. As for the ‘pottamus in a tutu, hie back to “Fantasia” and conjure up those twinkle-toes characters - the 'pottamus takes a far better picture than I. The connection between the ‘pottami and the alchemist would necessitate a long explanation for an extensive collection of stuffed animals. I am looking forward to your picture! Alkymst |
