update on Sue K.s foot worries

First, thank you to all you great people for helping me. I tend to let things go just because Iam so afraid of what else is coming with this monster RSD. The Docs couldn't fit me in so I went to the er. My foot was worse than yesterday and if I stood up, I wet right back down. The xray showed no fractures, but they put a cast on my leg from the knee down and I have to use cruthces until I see an orthopedic Dr. The er couldn't tell me what was really wrong. I'll just have to wait and see.

Thanks again,
Sue K.

Sue, why did your doc. have to put you in a cast?? don't you need to move your leg.. muscles in the leg? it's not broken?? They did the exact thing to me on my right leg(My ankle got twisted.. the pain lasted for a yr. or more) I truly believe I had RSD back then, went into remission.. and now lookie at me now.. down for the count! of course it was seldom heard of. so, last straw.. cast!when are you seeing an orthopedic Dr(Surgeon?) I wouldn't trust anyone to put me in a cast except for an "orthopedic surgeon') Anyway, please post back and let us know what is really wrong? did they check your vitals.. blood pressure, temp etc>? Get to an orth. surgeon ASP Love, and hugs, Sue K. Love, Desi

Hey Sue,

When you were talking about foot drop - do you think that it could be that your achilles tendon has snapped? My ankles and feet have been destroyed by the RSD and both my ankles are almost upside down from inversion and when they were first trying to stretch them through serial splinting they had to give up for fears of snapping all the tendons.

Hope that you see a dr soon that can help!!!

Love

Desi,

They put the cast on to try to get my foot straight. and I couldn't keep my foor from turning over. It feels alot better now that it has support and im not having as much trouble keeping my balance. Iam calling the ortopedic dac today. Thanks for your concern, I'll let you know what they say.

Love

Hi everybody,
I just got real lucky! My husbands doc is going to see me today at 2:15. He is the best doc around here. He usually just deals with spine issues, but becaues my husband has gone to him for over 25 yrs, hes agreed to see me.
Wish me luck.

Love
Sue K.

update on doc appt.

hi guys,
i went to the drs. and he said my foot is completly gone. first he took xrays and did'nt like the looks of my scs. he wants to put in a bigger and and better one. he said that i have to have the foot fused. the only problem is he only works on back problems. he is a very respected dr in this area. he is so nice and showed real concern for me. now i know why my husband will only see him. he set up an appt for me to get a new brace and i'll have to be on crutches until they fix my foot. i fell this morning just getting out of bed. thanks for all of your support.

Hi Sue,

Sorry to hear you are having such major problems with the foot. I was just wondering if you had hurt it somewhere along the line that you don't remember and are just now seeing this problem.

I was told I'd injured my back and I can't remember ever doing it accept when I was a tomboy growing up.

I hope that they can do something to help you use it again.

I'm so sorry to hear about what the doctor said about your foot. What does "completely gone" mean?
Also - please take what he said about your SCS with a big grain of salt. You probably should get a second opinion and wait till that original appointment to get that...Back doctors are notorious about judging other back doctors' work, and he would have found something to comment upon no matter what. If your SCS hadn't been bothering you... please consider dealing with your foot problem first.... wasn't that your first priority?

My Scs Had To Be Shut Off. The Leads Sliped Out Of Position And Now Are Sitting On A Nerve Causing Alot Of Pain. The Pain Clinic Put In The First One In 2003 And It Stoped Working A Year Later. The Doc I Am Seeing Now Is Very Respected In This Area. When My Husband Hurt His Back In A Bad Fall, It Took Dr. Linson 10 Years To Agree To Operate. I Do Plan On Talking To The Pain Clinic First. My Foot Has No Support To It At All. It Turns Right Over If I Put Any Weight On It At All. Right Now I Am Using Crutches To Keep The Weight Off It. If I Don't. I Fall Right Down. Thanks For Your Advice. Hope Everything Is Well With You.

How awful!!! I am so sorry about the SCS! how awful to have both things going on at once :( I am glad your husbands doc saw you right away. It's good to hear that compassion still rules some doctor's hearts once in a while. Please keep us posted on your progress - i will keep my fingers crossed for you. xoxo
