I'm sad that David Letterman is retiring after Wednesday night
He's been there for many years. I remember him having had a late, late show back in the 1980's.
It didn't matter where you would go. You could go to the beach, and turn on the TV,and you could see the David Letterman show. BF:hug::grouphug::(:grouphug: |
I am with you on that.
Yes, I am going to miss him too. I watched his first show in 1982.
I feel that David Letterman has been getting his audience ready for his departure. He has been helping us with the transition. Anyway, Tuesday night he has on Bill Murry and Bob Dylan Wednesday night will be a good-bye show -- milestones of the last three decades. ============= Here is Stephen Colbert (moving to Letterman's spot) talking to Oprah a few years ago. David Letterman the Icon is going to be missed.

David Letterman is such an icon he is even well known over here. I remember watching Late Night with David Letterman - shown late and out of sequence - in the '80s.
He will be missed. Dave. |
They air it here too. I usually had other things going on but would catch him from time to time, which was nice.
:( |
Wow, makes you wonder how many countries he will be missed in.
I caught him part of the time. Donna :grouphug: |
I've been watching his show a lot in the last several years. My timing late at night might become confusing to me. I might think that I have missed something all night.
They may show reruns for months before Stephen Colbert takes over his time slot. BF:hug::hug::hug: |

Re Stephen Colbert
Stephen Colbert's show will start September 8.
He and his people will move into Letterman's space in the Ed Sullivan theater in a couple of weeks so that they can start preparing. M |
watched the top ten and the ending. He has a young son!

I'm thinking that it's a difficult thing for me. David Letterman has been on TV it seems like my entire adult life. He started his Late,Late Show at 12:30 AM after the Johnny Carson show in the early 80's on NBC. After Johnny Carson retired Jay Leno got the Tonight show somehow, and David Letterman moved to CBS in the 11:30 PM time slot.
Over the years,if I was out of town,I could always see the David Letterman show where ever I went. He had been on for so long, and it's difficult to see him leave TV. BF:hug::confused::hug: |

Those of us up late at night needed him (especially before cable and the internet). He was more important to me than my family. M |
My DVR missed the last five mintutes of David Letterman!!
I went online to read the recap where he thanked people and talked about the Foo Fighters. =================== Bizi, Letterman brought his son Harry on once. (Harry was born 2003.) He would mention him once in a while, esp when he had a guest on with a child around the same age. Letterman had emergency quintuple bypass heart surgery in January 14, 2000. Regis and other friends took over hosting duties while Letterman was out. When he recovered, he brought the whole surgical team on stage to thank them. I felt that every night that we got to see David Letterman after January 14, 2000 was a gift to us. Mari |
His son and wife were in the audience last night. His wife was all smiles.
But I think it was a little overwhelming for his son. He didn't look like he was having that much fun. I enjoyed the top 10 last night. But I definatelly missed the food foo. Donna :grouphug: |
Good by to David Letterman, our old friend. I'm sorry to see him leave. BF:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:
