Anyone have a computer that wont go on net
Derrick's computer is saying its out of range.
For any of the SSID's, anyone that might have a clue. Please give me idea's to get it back on. We haven't gotten a virus protection. But not sure if that is it. If it is, how can I solve it without it going on net. Donna :grouphug: |
Was this computer online before? Or is it new or something?
Have you tried it in a different location? "out of range" sounds like the signal might not be strong enough. Not having virus protection shouldn't keep you from connecting... unless there is something installed that is checking that... there could be. Still, getting online without virus protection is one heckuva a bad idea. |
Yep I know Waves. This is Derrick's computer. It has been online.
Just don't understand why it wont connect now. Its just been around for a couple months. We were to get it virus protection. It worked before on the same one we are trying to connect to. Just hadn't yet. Donna :grouphug: |
My laptop had the Wifi card go out , or intermittent and then totally, I thought it was the Linux operating systems versions I was trying, but many had worked before and then none would connect at all to our wifi..
I finally googled the problem and defective/broken wifi card was what came up.. Got a replacement wifi card from a local PC fixit guy and all was good again.. But ift would just say failed to connect, nothing about out of range... Has it been moved far away from the modem/router? solid wals will weaken the wifi signals. any way to test it with cable/wired connection? does it show no bars on the icon? There are free anti virus that do work, so if you get it going again, I suggest getting virus protection... |
Thanks to all.
Still no luck yet. But I haven't felt the best today so haven't worked with it. It finally started showing the wifi numbers last night. But wont connect. It shows 5 bars also. So I'm really stumped so far. And it will get virus protection just as soon as we can get it on. Donna :grouphug: |
Gosh still no idea why.
But it went back on tonight. Now trying to get the virus protection to work I bought. Donna :grouphug: |
Can other computers or phones with wifi connect to same signal?

I hope that you got it worked out.:hug::hug: M |
Yes, I got his computer then the software working.
Now we are all back on or will be when the hubby picks up his computer. He did something to it. Not sure what. Donna :grouphug: |

Donna,
Was it a laptop or tower? There is an icon at the top that connect to wifi, if you touch it, it can turn off. If that happens it starts searching for another signal which can be too far away. Like a neighbors unprotected or business nearby. For virus protection there are many very good free ones. My work uses AVG, free version, my dd uses AVST free. Hope it is resolved, but get the protection on, the viruses can really crash a computer making the hard drive fried. Di |
The virus protection is on now. And he is back in town with my friend.
He has camp and volunteering this week. Donna :grouphug: |
