July time for a new thread!

Speaking of Susan, Just Found out last night that her mother who has been in a mostly vegitative state following a stroke for the past 8 years has finally past away yesterday.
All of the daughters were there. I don't know what susans dad will do, she was his life. They live in North carolina. Not sure when susan will come home at this point. She had been volunteering at a farm, she was doing better. Not sure how she is now probably feels relief. 8 years is a long time to grieve/watch someone lay there.

I over drank again last night got up late. I started drinking again july 1st. that is 2 nights in a row 7-9 drinks each night. I have 5 more heavy beers in the fridge.
need to be careful....

I'm sorry about Susan's mom also. But they may be more relieved
than anything. After so long a time.

Jeff had a good day in new orleans, fun to see his old friend and wife.
I stopped by whole foods and had a couple of mystery romp coffee java stouts and some fries with mushroom gravy and cheese curds. Delicious!
Since they were at whole foods they were good for me right?
lol

Lara 07-03-2015 09:43 PM

I'm sorry to read about your friends mother passing, bizi.
Relief may come later... for now I imagine it would be overwhelming grief.

I stopped at three because I was so full from the enormous bowl of mushroom gravy fries with cheese curds. It was huge!
So I really could not drink anymore . In fact it kept me up all night that is why I am up early. I don't think I slept at all. :(
have a good day!
bizi waiting for the coffee to stop brewing....yawn

bizi 07-04-2015 05:01 PM

we went to a small town called arnaudville about 45 minutes north east of us.
It is a brewing company, la 31 bayou teche.
they were celbrating having fresh 31stout beer, it is a fund raiser comemorating the 31 soldiers and a dog killed in Afghanistan in 2011 when their helcopter was shot down. The brewing company is raising funds for them.
The beer was good and it started to rain. we ate a couple of cheese burgers that were very good. And I had 3 small brownie cup cakes that were delicious!I had 3 stouts.
Going to hag out here until it is time to go to erath for the fireworks demonstration tonight.

Bizi, I am not a health professional but I have taught dietitians in their pre-clinical years.

I had a chat to one of my professional dietitian colleagues about your weight loss. Her comment was that you are doing really well - sustainable weight loss is in the range of 1 to 2 pounds (0.5 to 1 kg) per week.

Well done :).

bizi 07-05-2015 02:55 AM

Thank you for your feed back. I am going to try to not drink again. I just made myself sick eating the wrong foods today, 2 cheese burgers with mayo for lunch and 3 pints of beer. then came home had a handful of blueberries. then went out to the fair grounds for dinner and drinks. Had a 16 ounce rum drink hurricane then 2 miller light beers, 10 oz each then 2 heavy IPA beers.
I ate a big fried pork steak. I don't normally eat fried foods and this was the most unhealthy thing on the menu. That is a total of 9 drinks for the entire day.
I am wide awake stomach is bloated gurgling, tried to make myself vomit...could not. Took some pepto bismol.
Why did I do this to myself?
sigh

Thinking about you Bizi,
Sorry to read that dilemma you have been in. Sometimes we just need to reward ourself for the good things, instead of regretting the more difficult. Your weight is amazing. I envy the folks at that end of the scale.

Sorry about the tummy afterwards, I had just picked up some Gavascone (so) chewable sand an enzyme foe gas relief for some tummy issues I've been having.

My dh is having cataract surgery on Tuesday, for the left eye, the right eye on the 29th. I'm saving with some part time work for a Disney trip in the Fall for dd, and a cruise next May.
I'd love to lose weight for both, my thyroid is still in crisis as they continue to up my dose of synthroid.

Good to catch up, and send my hugs and love,
Di

I just got up at 1140am...
hi di, thanks for your sweet note. I am sorry that they have not figured out your thyroid yet. seems like they would be easily able to do that.
Sorry for all of your rain, maybe you will have 80 today?

thank you friends.
I just got up from a nap. (3-4 hour nap)
For lunch we went to the diner we like to go to on sundays.
Had my usual:
3 scrambled eggs with spinach and a side of brocolli and then a side of black bean salsa, heated, to put on my eggs. Delicious! and healthy.
Stopped by whole foods to pick up dinner. We will have flounder and asparagus. maybe a small salad to go with that.
I am going to try to eat healthy really healthy this week. As this weekend it was bad.
I appreciate your support.
Probably have gained a couple of pounds in 4 days of drinking, bloating etc.
In the absence of reason, it was a release to be "able" to drink after not drinking for 30 days.
Was I really suffering not drinking?
Having napped, Now I feel better.
Hubby is going to cook the flounder saute it and freshly steam the asparagus.
My day is gone.... It is 6 pm....I have slept it away. I could go to the gym tonight after dinner....or I could stay in and do paperwork, am behind in that again. or do both.
That would make me feel better about myself.

took a nice 2mile walk thru the neighborhood with m y sweetie and then did some paperwork, made a night deposit. The air was very cool for it being in the 90's today. 70's felt glorious!

70s is perfect weather. I like 80s also -- but with only a little humidity and now rain.

Have a good week.

I am to remain AF until saturday per my friends request, to be a support person to her. She is convinced that she is not losing weight because she is drinking. and she knows that is how I lost weight. So I will go to the gym tonight have not been in a long while. Will walk on the tred mill may try to jog a bit to test out my thigh. It has been 6 weeks since memorial day week.
I need to do some paperwork billing, hubby bought some stamps so that is good and helpful.
IT is just sitting down and doing the work!
bizi

I made it to the gym, jogged walked almost 2 1/2 miles in 35 minutes...
4 minute jog one minute walk intervals.

I am hoping that I am able to sleep in the same bed as jeff tonight, have slept in the spare bedroom after drinking so much and could not sleep.
I took my night meds and am not tired. will finish here and go lay down. I read a readers digest before lights out to help fall asleep. It takes me forever to finish them reading a page or 2 at night.

I cooked a crock pot pork roast with spinach and squash and carrots and onions and cream of mushroom soup and some sage and spices not much salt. one pot dinner. it turned out good and plenty of left overs for friday then will freeze the rest.spinach stuffed chicken breast and some veggies for dinner tomorrow night. we rented a car to go on vacation this year. We pick up the car friday morning, I hope it is a fun car. WE did not want to put the 2500 miles on the new cars. and it only cost about $300. not too too bad.
we had the tree trimmed today and mulch put down around the tree it nourishes the tree. WE had an arbourist do the work, $1100. They did a good job.
I ate a delicious pear for a snack and I am still munchie. will resit the peanut butter that is calling my name. I had some nuts earlier. few cashews and some brazil nuts which are very good for us for some reason, I forget what. We are supposed to eat 4 a month.
good night. another AF night for me, should sleep better.

waves 07-09-2015 12:58 AM

Bizi,

I advise you to consume what you cooked over the next few days, and don't freeze it this time. Food safety.

When you want to freeze things, this should be done immediately, as soon as the item is cooked and cooled. Things left in the refrigerator long enough for a second meal are not safe for freezing. Not sure why.

It might be the subsequent thawing needed that is problematic, because this food is frozen with more organisms already on it, and as soon as the temp drops below freezing, they would multiply again, possibly to unsafe levels or producing unsafe amounts of toxins. (Organisms are destroyed by cooking/sufficient/reheating, but their toxins are not).

waves 07-09-2015 12:58 AM

Brazil nuts are rich in selenium.

Lara 07-09-2015 01:22 AM

Only 4 a month? Now that is rationing. ;)

Bizi,

Your pork roast with carrots and squash sounds delicious.

That is great that you got the tree done. That is so important to take care of before the busy part of hurricane season approaches.

Waves,

I wish you can explain this to hubby for me.

I have explained the "toxin" thing to hubby a million times but he does not "get" it -- and this from a guy with a big interest in chemistry and other sciences.

I have given up.
Lately I do a broken record kind of thing:
"If you want to risk it, I am prepared to call the ambulance for you."
I repeat it several times before making something else for myself to eat.

M

bizi 07-09-2015 09:00 AM

lara, I am thinking that you only need to eat 4 a month to get the benefits of the nut. Not to limit the brazil nut.
Go ahead and eat as many as you like.:)

bizi 07-09-2015 08:41 PM

a friend of mine challenged me to stay AF this week tuesday thru friday.
tonight I texted her...Are you not drinking today? Because I was thinking about drinking.
She said ummmmm. I drank a beer today, but only had one.
I said to her that well then.... I will have one too.
and she said to stick to one and she would ask me about it tomorrow. I said deal.

I don't think I could stop at one so I don't think I will have any.
And I am really full, 3/4 of my plate for dinner was filled with veggies. The other quarter was baked chicken.

I was afraid to get on the scale this morning....
146. so easy to gain weight. Recklace eating and drinking make for the scale to not be too too happy. I should stop drinking until my next vacation perhaps this is bloat weight. I have 2 vacations in august. I plan on drinking for both of those. My goal is to stop drinking come september for 100 days.
At least this is my thinking.
