Shoes for neuropathy. This is a more stylish version of Crocks and they are going to have them in leather too. http://www.cloggens.com/

Billye:
They kind of look like the Crocks that are all over the place where I live. Everyone is wearing them. They sell for $10.00 Melody |
I have seen these everywhere...
My ultrasound tech yesterday was wearing them.
Some employees at work now have them, and a uniform catalog that I get had a whole section on them. I guess I will soon join in...if I can get them comfortably on my instep which is very high! Thanks for the link! |
I know the blood taking lady was wearing them at the hospital too. Do you guys wear these and it helps for comfort? I wear tennis shoes but my feet feel so swallon in there but I feel my inner ankle needs better support so why the tennis shoes.I'm suppose to get orthotics made if I can ever let someone touch my leg.
|
The wound Drs. really recommend the Crocks, they cost around 30.00
thenew leather ones run around 100.00. They even have then in flip flops Terri. My new script shoes expand when your feet swell and believe it or not there cute. I like the Crocks around the house like slippers. You see alot of nurses wearing the Crocks,i bet the new ones won't be so sweaty. Sue |
I am 60 years old this year. I cannot, in all my wild imagination, see me wearing these shoes. We were in King Plaza Mall a few months ago and there was one guy selling these in the middle of the mall. I mean, he had them in every color of the rainbow. I remember walking over to the counter and saying "Oh, Alan, these are the crocks that everyone is wearing around our neighborhood. And these had stripes on them.
I remember the look on Alan's face. He did not like them. Now I have no idea if they are comfortable or not. But I know me. I'll either wear my chinese slippers around my house, or my athletic shoes outside. They give me no problem. They remind me of Dutch shoes (you know, the wooden clog things) lol, Mel |
I think those shoes are cute. I wonder how well they keep you from hyperpronating. I have to wear orthotics and when in the house that means keeping my 'running shoes' on all day, and I hate that...I am a barefoot kind of person, but then I get all off kilter. I will have to ask when I go in for a PT eval.
|
Has anyone tried these on?
I got a pair of regular crocks several months back and had to return them... they were super confortable - even without socks (I'm normally a barefoot person but going outside need shoes!) but ended up returning them cause they were so large around the top part I looked like a duck.... I dont have extra skinny feet at all, have a very high arch, but do have very thin ankles and legs, and looked like a was wearing someone elses shoes cause the had so much extra room around in them....!
These are really cute sytles though! If anyone does get a pair that they can compare to regular crocks, could you post on the fit? Thanks!:) |
Hi all, I ordered diabetic crocks, I rarely wear them, my lower back aches when I do. They are very roomy, have to wear my chenille socks with them. My daughter just bought a pair of Mary Jane crocs and they aren't as big in the toe area and quite cute. The best pair of shoes I own are Borns, they are similar to Crocs but made of leather and best of all they don't make mback hurt or the tops of my feet burn. I am looking at Earth Shoes now, they have to be roomy in the foot area tho, bare foot is best of all.
The heat of summer makes my PN flare so I am dreading the next few months, lots of cold water foot soaks ahead. |
All I can say is (and I don't want to put a hex on myself), this is the second day that my feet don't burn. And we've had nutty weather, which usually makes my feet and legs go nuts.
Yesterday, I took 10,000 of the methyl b-12 and you better believe today, I'm doing the same thing. Wouldn't it be terrific if I found the remedy and all it took was methyl b-12? Glory Be!!! Mel |
Mel, I have 3 years on you, hubby has 4 and we both wear these. We ended up getting another brand, because the insole on the Crocs seemed to be less comfortable than these. They are "Nothings." I think these are available on the Internet, but I would hesitate to order them without trying them on. I noticed that the Crocs and the Nothings feel different in the toe area, and there is nothing worse than having PN toes squeezed... :)
Tell Alan to get with it... I bet Arnold wears them... :) :) :) Cathie P.S. Where did you see Crocs for $10.00? |
I got the Diabetic ones
and my podiatrist was soo happy about them...
What I did was go to a sports store that carried the regular styles, tried them on and walked in them in the store to see...and then ordered direct from the Crocs.com. They are shoes that do alter and correct how you walk so I would not recommend wearing them all day the first day. I did that after my knee fracture this winter [I'd essentially been off my feet for a month] and I suffered horrid leg, tendon and instep pains from the shoes. I wear them often and am glad I got mine. Many, many nurses I encounter wear them -those or Dansko type clogs [these cost over $100.] and they all love them. Even my C surgeon wears them! - j |
Maybe I tried the imitation ones but they were so hard on the bottom. I do think there ugly but if they help then who cares. I know at places like Target they have similar for like 10.
|
The day you see me wear clogs, crocs, whatever you call them, well, that's the day I'll be in a bustier like Madonna. LOL
And Alan has to wear the oft-loading shoe. I can only imagine him with one oft loading shoe and the other is a croc. Hah!!! That is something I'd pay to see. Melody |
Mel, I would pay to see both of you in Crocs, and if you wear them with a bustier, I might even pay double... :) You would be so cute with your little painted toes, baking a batch of your muffins...
Well, I guess we might not be able to see your toesies... But we would all know they are hot pink... :) :) :) Cathie |
Well, actually, they are not hot pink. Last week, I got a french pedicure. The lady asked me "would you like a manicure??" I never get them. I don't have nice nails so I just keep them neat and clean. I've never had them "done", well, it's been years. So I paid $11.00 for a french pedicure.
Light pink with the french line. Then I come home and someone asks me "why didn't you get a manicure, it comes with the pedicure". I said "you mean, I could have gotten two of them for $11.00". Everybody laughed. not me!!!! P.S. I just passed the store where they sell these crocs. They were $2.49. Would you like ot know the colors they had??? Bright Green or Orange. Now really!!!! |
We have a members photo album now...
see Forum Feedback. YOu have to be logged on to use it... can be found
in Quick Links...click on photo. Time for Melody to put up some fun pics...maybe the bustier and crocks would be a good start? LOLOLOL Just kidding.. There is a delay in uploading...they are working that out since it is new. Check the thread and see. It looks like fun to me! I am definitely going to investigate these for work (if I return to work) next fall. Many at work have them already, but I have to try some on to check that high instep etc. I have to wear protected toe footwear, for liability reasons on the job. The tie running shoes, compress the nerves in my instep and cause numbness increases. So thanks for that link... I shall think on it more! :p |
Mrs. D.
Not that I'm stupid (okay, I'm stupid), I went to quick links and there are two people with links. Chemar and Kimmy Dawn. Now what is the next step? Do I click on upload and follow prompts and it will make a new thread?? I have no clue. Thanks, Melody P.S. Alan just asked me "are these crocks only for women"??? Honestly, I couldn't answer him. I just said "have you seen these??, would you wear orange crocks???" |
just hit upload and try it...
I have 3 pics there now, but the two yesterday went into a moderation holding place... there seems to be a glitch there that admin has to approve them.
Read the thread on Forum Feedback... I would try it... since it is fun and they need the practice to get it going. |
Crocs and similar type shoes
Hi everyone:
I have seen this type of shoe on nursing home personnel and wondered how they worked for them with all that walking. I can't imagine how one keeps this kind of shoe on his or her feet? I would think they would slip off. And do you have to curl up your toes to keep them on, or what? I don't even like bedroom slippers with no heels! Please, you croc lovers, enlighten me. Shirley H. |
not really sure
Yes, I think I do grip with my toes. I've worn shoes without the backs in them for years. In fact with the neuropathy, I don't want anything else because I can slip my foot out of it rapidly if the burning gets too bad. And, I tend to drag my feet because of the difficulty of lifting one leg, so I'd have to say that to keep them on you grip with your toes. They do make the clog style with a strap behind the heel tho.
There is another form of clog that I'm thinking of ordering for winter weather. They look more narrow made and I've got a terribly narrow foot. I also like the good toe bumper. I'm forever running my big toe under things. :( A friend told me that she wears them and they have a wonderful arch support. I've seen hers and they are well made. Here's a link to them: http://www.keenfootwear.com/pdp_page.cfm?productID=158 They are pricy, but you can do a search and find on line sales for them. I just found them for about half price at onlineshoes.com. I wore out my winter clogs during the trip to Mayo (snow, wheelchair wheels running over them). Actually they were worn out anyway. And I've got to have something before the bad weather comes. So the search is on. Shoes are terrible things for me. Narrow foot, one foot has no arch and both big toes seem to be turning up. All of this combined with RA in the joints makes for shoe shopping trips with none bought. Or worse than that, shopping until I drop, finally buying a pair and then coming home with them and finding out after a couple of hours of wearing them that I can't wear them for some reason. So when I find a pair that fits, doesn't hurt and the neuropathy doesn't gripe about it, I buy them 2 pair at a time. I haven't seen the Cloggens, but found them on line. I actually tried the Crocs when they first came out. Way too wide for my foot. So I've never had a pair of those. But clogs I love. So I'm going to try the Keens clog. If it fits, I'll wear them until there is nothing left of it. Billye |
Mrs. D. I tried uploading some pics!!!! no go
This is the message I received:
Sorry, MelodyL: Bad File - No File or File is too Large or of the Wrong MIME Type Okay, what do I do now. It's really no big thing. I don't want to drive you people crazy with resizing these images. I just want to know if I can learn to do it myself. Thanks much. Mel |
Billye
Thanks for that link - that style is really cute and sole looks very comfortable - looked around and found others made by them too that look like they are very kind to the feet..... let us know if the Keens arent too wide?????
|
Keens
Will do, I did order them so should only be a few days. I've got a narrow foot with a high instep, hard to fit because of the turned up toes. I'm hoping this footbox will accomodate them without the rest of the shoe being too wide for me. And I found them for about half price by doing a web search. They should be pretty weatherproof waterwise too because of the rubber clog bottom. My friend's weren't heavy either. I hate heavy shoes, cause I don't lift my toes well and a heavy shoe makes it worse.

Mel...
I am using jpeg format. Most internet board require that. Or bmp
If you have problems, please post to the thread on Forum Feedback for them to help you out. The picture sizes can be larger, than on posts, so it is more flexible than posting requirements.;) |
I might just do that. Can't believe that at 59, I'm learning formats about uploading stuff up to a site (I've done this plenty of times on phobobucket (thanks you you,:)
Would you believe that I know people who not only do not have a computer, they wouldn't go near one, they are afraid it will bite them. And I have friend who has a dvd player and her son has to come up from downstairs and put in the dvd for her. I just looked at her and said "did you ever think of just taking the remote and press play?" and she laughed and said "what do I have a son for??" Couldn't answer that. I wanted to bob her one. I know MANY people who think like that. I call them techno challenged. Oh, and this is the best. She loves to watch lifetime. She loves movies about mormons and amish. There was one on yesterday. I had seen it previously and I knew she would love it so I'm sitting on her porch last night and I said "Your movie was on today, did you see it? and she says "Oh I only saw 30minutes, we had to leave. I said "why on earth didn't you tape it, and she said: "oh, I can't be bothered to learn to tape anything (she has a vhs too). And I said: "but you've been talking about this movie all week, it was on, all you had to do was press the record button and leave. It would have taped all day, and you would have had your lifetime movies!!!! Her response: 'Tape all day?, who wants to tape all day, that will break the machine". I wasn't about to explain quick timer for her. I give up. LOL Mel |
Keens Clogs
For Kmeb and Mrs. D, (I think)
The Keen Clogs I posted about, arrived today. They are a good fit, the arch is high and they have a good toebox. My turned up toes fit well. Only thing I can find to complain about is,... they are stiff, I tend to clomp when I walk and the leather insoles have grooves in them. They bother my heels. I think socks will make a difference and hopefully the stiffness will work out some. They are light weight and good quality leather inside and out. I've decided I'm keeping them. They might fit you Liza Jane. The toe area has lots of room and the heels are narrow. Billye |
