PN making us susceptible to pinched nerves
Does anyone else have pinched nerves due to PN? I have them in both elbows, wrists and neck. My nuerologist said that this is common with PN. How are you treating it? I am wearing the braces and tried physical therapy for my neck. Any input would be great. I am also wondering what I should expect as far as this occurring often? I am seeing orthopedic surgeon Monday. Just had to ask. I lovery having this site; I can finally talk to people that understand. It's been a rough three years; this place is great

I definitely think that what ever is causing the inflammation, makes us more susceptible to pinched/ irritated/ nerves. I have full body NLD polyneuropathy and I get them a lot.

Again--
--see "double crush hypothesis".
Those people who already have compromise to nerves from some systemic cause do tend to be more prone to compressive effects and the symptoms generated can be "more than the sum of the parts". People with diabetic neuropathy, for example, seem more prone to carpal or tarsal tunnel effects and have higher rates of symptomatic spinal radiculopathy (nerve root compression). |

You do have to stop drinking, of course: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread104096.html |

I will check it out for sure!! My nuerologist told me that my entire nerve was damaged and not just the sheath?! She said that I shouldn't get worse, but that I will always habe it. I was told that it wouldn't get worse last year too, now it affects my hands and I have pinched nerves everywhere. I don't know what to believe anymore. I havery been sober since February 2014. I can thank neuropathy for that at least

When I was just beginning to also have symptoms in my hands and wrists at night, my neurologist told me that bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome is often underlaid by a predisposing polyneuropathy. And that almost all polyneuropathies predispose to the occurrence of superimposed upper extremity nerve entrapments. Hope this helps.

My podiatrist did say that a long standing diagnosis of bilateral carpal tunnel should have been investigated as it often means something else is going on, especially at my height and with my gait issues. He actually refused to see me again until I had been examined by a neurologist and so started all this about seven years ago. I could make a very long list of serious health issues in myself and particularly my children that have been missed by doctors. I am not sure at this point why we ever bothered with "well-child" visits |

Well my concern about surgery seems to have been for nothing. The orthopedic surgeon said that the pinched nerves in my elbows and wrists is considered minor and that this debilitating pain is most likely the neuropathy. How am I supposed to feel this bad forever??? I just can't stand this anymore. I havery seen many doctors, gotten a million tests. I thought at least repairing the pinched nerves would help me a little. From being told that things wouldn't get worse since I quit drinking a year and a half ago to now all this pain in my arms and wrists and hands.. I am sorry for the rant, I really am. I cannot stop crying and I can't accept this and I don't habe any more hope to feel better somehow. Is this supposed to be it? I just walk around with braces on and just be grateful each day for something? |
