I'm very sorry you can't sleep because of the pain and I'm hoping you feel a lot better when you wake up. sending gentle

You know that's the second thing my medication concerning CRPS 2 does...help me sleep.
How very sorry for your bad night. It makes forva miserable day with stress if you will be able to sleep the following nights.
Thanks for sharing, know you are not alone.

RSD,

How awful. I hope you sleep today.

When I am exhausted, but cannot seem to rest I find the best thing for me to do is watch TV. There are certain shows that knock me out, like The Tudors, even when I am interested in the storyline. If you can find something that interests you, but is boring, you might find it relaxes you into sleep. Also I forced myself not to use my bed for anything but sleeping.

I overdid it at PT on Wednesday morning and suffered a wringing pain in both legs afterward. It was horrendous, because it ruined my sleep. The only things that helped were heating pads, an electric blanket and TV in my Livingroom. It has been hell dealing with RSD without pain meds. Right now I am having burning, flushing in both hands and arms, as well as in my face. I have been off the nortriptyline for 6 days so I am worried that it isn't the nortriptyline causing this, but maybe the RSD has spread.

I am investigating kratom, but I am hesitant to buy it until I know for certain it does not interact with LDN. Have you tried kratom? The many reports that it helps with pain give me hope.

Did you get a chance to watch the Wim Hof video I posted?

When I can't sleep it helps if I get up for a while. That makes me sleepy. So I go back to bed, flop around for a while, get up again, go back to bed, eat something, have some tea, watch tv...eventually I do fall back to sleep and sleep all day. :( Not sleeping really messes up your life. :(

I had that problem for a very long time! If you can ask your doctor about Ambian, I only take it when needed because it's very addicting but it helps so much! Also try Melatonin it's a natural sleep aid! I'm so sorry to hear that

thank you all so much for your kind words. i had a rough nite/morning but finally fell asleep around 6 a.m. i'm feeling a little better though. i still have pain but the flare is over so that's a relief. i hope you all have a pain free as possible day today. thank you again for caring so much. it gives me the strength to keep fighting this monster called rsd. soft hugs to all.

Those are the worst. What do you do to calm it down.i will walk a little, rub my feet, tak e a couple Motrin and put me feet in a bag of ice ...

when i have rsd flares uglogirl, i try to lie down, use heating pad and have a cup of chamomille tea. but nothing was helping last nite. i just had to wait for it to pass. i tried stretching a little and that helped a little. as for ice i never use it because my dr said ice was not good for rsd. it can cause further damage of the nerves. if i were you i would check with your dr before using anymore ice. thanks for all of your kind thoughts. hugs.

There is actually a prescription version of melatonin that works really well--sorry I don't remember the name. I'm not a fan of Ambian...

Wiix 08-07-2015 07:23 PM

Me either. I took it once and had a heck of a time with my memory.

RSD ME 08-07-2015 09:23 PM

another night where my pain level is slowly rising. just took my meds, have my tea and plugging in the heating pad and watching dateline. (milanos on the nitetable)lol. hopefully tonite i'll get some sleep. i stayed up all day so that i could try to get back on a normal sleep schedule. i hope all of you have a painfree as possible nite tonite too. sweet dreams my friends.

Wiix 08-08-2015 08:35 AM

Sometimes, like yesterday, I sleep around the clock. Sleep when you need to and forget the schedules. I find that works out best.

So sorry you couldn't sleep. I was up 'til 2am last night, my foot was just burning all night. I'm a nurse and had put in a full day.

Distracted myself by reading New Yorker articles, which I highly recommend, the articles are interesting enough to keep your attention and distract from the terrible pain.

I play a lot of computer/video games but when I'm really hurting I can't concentrate well enough to play.

I had Gralise 600mg, Baclofen 10mg, but still not enough to take care of the symptoms. I have Tramadol but try to limit taking it to once a day (might need to rethink that strategy).

Hope everyone has a good night tonight, best wishes! :)

What does RSD stand for?

Again, on scheduling. I feel that pain isin't on a schedule. It just comes on and intrudes. It's amazing how sleep gets rid of pain. It's like magic. In my case anyway. I think it has a lot to do with tension in the body. Even unconcious tension, like in your gut. If I can relax and go to sleep everything relaxes.

I must have had 5 naps yesterday and slept most of the night. Today haven't had any pain and don't feel sleepy. :winky:

I have a few free aps that I downloaded onto my Ipad that really help. They range from breathing techniques to meditation to guided imagery. Although I hate to admit that the guided imagery usually doesn't help because I overthink it! When they say picture a garden I keep changing my mind from English to rose to sunflower. By the time I make up my mind I've missed several minutes and I am even more confused!

I do highly recommend if you have access to a tablet to check into some of the aps. Good luck!

thanks to everyone for all of your caring and great advice. last nite i slept better but today i had a two hour flare up in my stomach. almost felt like my endometriosis was back again. hope that it was just an rsd flare. anyway, the flare has passed and i just took my nitetime rsd pain meds. hopefully i will sleep again tonite. i agree with you wiix, i should just sleep when i need it not when I'm scheduled to do it. thanks for the great advice. and thank you all again. i hope you all have a pain free as possible and restful nite tonite too. i am sending big hugs to all of you for being such great friends. sweet dreams.

Hope you're doing even better today, R.

Wiix 08-10-2015 02:26 PM

I hate it when I wake up at night feeling rotten. Can't really pinpoint what's wrong, just a general unwellness like I'm on the verge of getting sick but not really. Have you ever experienced that?
